Donation Challenge: Raising Funds for Lisa Kelly

For the last week or so you may have noticed that little blurb I’ve been putting at the end of my giveaways about a mom in PA who has cancer…for the third time. Her name is Lisa Kelly and she writes the blog Clusterfook. I don’t know Lisa, but I know her story well, as I live in a cancer cluster and am always learning of people in my life battling the disease.

Lisa is a married mom of two daughters and prior to Lisa’s next round of chemo, her job laid her off. If you think this recession is tough on you imagine the medical expenses of fighting cancer (because, no, insurance does not cover everything) and still trying to keep a roof over your head and putting food on the table for your family.

I want to help Lisa get those medical expenses paid for, to make sure she doesn’t have to worry if the electricity will be shut off, to help pay for the special supplemental food she needs to eat while on chemo. So I am asking you to make a donation to Lisa. Would you be willing to match mine? I honestly don’t have much, so I gave what I could..$50. I would love to see that $50 turn into several hundred or more. There are about a thousand of you reading my blog daily, even if a small percentage of you each donated $50, we could make a big difference to Lisa.

You can donate via Paypal or SmartyPig on Lisa’s donation page. Can I challenge you to match my donation? If you can meet it or give any amount, please do so and be sure to leave a comment here so we can thank you.

I hope Lisa is doing well. Cancer is horrible in so many ways. It is a shame that it’s financially devastating on top of everything else!

    Unfortunately, she passed away. :(
