L’Oreal Feria Product Launch

I’m sure if you read other beauty blogs, you’ve seen by now that L’Oreal is launching a new formula of Feria that has 3x the highlights to create multi-faceted color. A group of beauty bloggers were selected to hold a party, color some hair and help with the re-launch. I feel honored to be one of those selected so check out some before and after pictures from the party below:

Above are Leigh, Barb and Sonya all patiently waiting while their hair soaked up the color. As we waited and rinsed and styled our hair we talked about what was different about L’Oreal Feria than the brands we typically use.

Here’s what we found:
-The dye is a thicker formula so it didn’t drip.
-There was no amonia smell–at all. The essential oil ampule actually made it smell great!
-One bottle actually had more than enough formula for my wicked long hair.
-Our hair looked brighter and more vibrant.
-We loved the shine and the highlights.
-It didn’t dry our hair out.

The only con we all agreed on is that for the 3 of us who did a brown tone, the formula was clear making it difficult to see if we were getting it on our clothes or skin. Once it processed for the 25 minutes, it also emerged as color on our skin. However, it was easily removed from our skin and the stain didn’t remain at all.

Leigh Before and After:

We all agreed that Leigh did not have a dramatic change to her hair color. However we did notice, and it may be difficult to tell here, that the contrasting blonde and dark brown color to her hair softened making her blonde highlights blend in a bit more. And seriously? How gorgeous is she? She is tall and I told her she has the face of a model.

Sonya Before and After

Sonya’s change was more obvious. She went from a medium ash brown to more of a chestnut color. I think this warm color looks perfect on her for fall.

Barb Before and After

Now this is what I am talking about! Wow! I told Barb she had the most dramatic transformation of all. The after picture doesn’t even justify what a great color this is. It has a lot of red to it and she told me that she has repeatedly gotten compliments on her hair since the party a week ago. She is in love with it and said she will forever color her hair with L’Oreal Feria #36, Chocolate Cherry. Barb also has very thin hair and somehow this hair color has almost plumped up each strand. Her hair feels and looks thicker, which she is incredibly happy about.

Shannon Before and After:

Truth be told, I was so busy getting things in order that I forgot to take a before picture. But as with the nature of my blog, I am always taking pictures of myself for various things so the picture above will show you just how dark my hair was before and kind of flat looking. Dull–blah. That was due to my other hair coloring debacle a few months ago. So my hair is now lighter and brings out my natural red highlights. Also, hello shine. I love that my hair is shiny. And seriously–I only needed ONE bottle for all of that hair!

So tell me what you think? Whose hair color looks best? Have you had a chance to try it out yourself?

I’ve been a DIY hair dyer for years now, and Feria is one of my favorite formulas. You guys look great!
  2. deanna
I love Leigh’s color in the “after” picture! Do you know which Feria formula she used? I want to try that one!
  3. Shannon
Hi Deanna, Leigh used #50, Havanna Brown.
  4. Jean
Shannon- That was a fun post. I loved seeing all the after pictures. I have to say yours looked the best but I liked them all. Looks like you all had fun!

    Jean–thank you :)

But I really think Barb’s was best. It really was a big transformation and she looks all beautiful. :)

Great results – you all look beautiful and your hair looks so healthy! Sounds like a fun night :) Shannon, your hair looks so super shiny, so yours is my fave, but everyone looks 100% fab!

THis is a great example on how to promote a product! Shannon, this should be a must read for bloggers out there who want to do promotional posts. I want to run out and buy this product and color my hair! I love Barb’s color. I had that color in college and gave up because the color was so stinky and my hair smelled for days after coloring and it was messy and left dye on my tub. How about leave behind color on the sink/tub/etc? Was there any and did spills wash away quickly? Thank you!
  8. Shannon
Mae, how fabulous are you for saying that? :)

Seriously, the essential oil ampule extinguished any ammonia smell. We all couldn’t get over that our hair actually smelled good WHILE we were dying it.

All of my guests used the same sink and I used our tub. There was no dye left behind and no staining. Also because the formula is thicker than other dyes, we really didn’t splatter or spill anywhere. It was just dye in the typical places (a little on your forehead, ears, etc.) and yes, with a wet cloth it washed right off.

I must say everyone looked fabulous, but Barb had the most fabulous and dramatic change. I have tried at home kits in the past with okay success, but I would give it a go again seeing these pictures. My hair is closest to Leigh’s and I love the color!

Browns are usually safe. I once tried dying my hair “bright blonde” and it was a complete disaster! I’m curious if Feria has success going from light brown to blonde!

I’m personally not a big fan of boxed haircolors, but if
you are looking for a subtle shine or color, its the way to go.

    Hi Shannon!

You look gorgegous! I love your color! I also have dark brown hair and would like to lighten it a bit. Which Féria color did you use on your hair?

  12. Shannon
    Hi Arlete,

Thanks for the compliment! I used French Roast.

  13. Mindy
Feria was great until they recently changed their conditioner, it is of poor quality and has a very perfumy scent. Cutting corners at the customers expense no doubt.
  14. ellia
I liked Sonya’s color the best, what did she use?
  15. Shannon
Hi Ellia, I believe she used Havanna.
  16. Laura
I’ve been all over the Loreal website looking for the color that replaced #88…does anyone know? On their replacement chart, #88 isn’t even in there….Loreal is closed today….
    Thanks!!

I am VERY DISAPPOINTED that they changed the conditioner. I have chemically treated long hair and I desparately needed the high quality conditioner. Curious to know why they would do that? Are people stealing the conditioners or something?
  18. Anna S.
i love how shiny the hair looks for all of the ladies. and the color is subtle, not in your face dramatic. im always worried that i will get a drastically different hair color when i color my hair at home, but with Feria the change is very subtle
  19. Tina
Wow! Everyone looks great and I love Shannon’s shiny hair! Feria is great!
  20. Tina
Sonya’s hair is a huge improvement – i love how it made her face come to life!
  21. steph
im doing it tody with feria!
    im using bronze shimmer.
    has anyone used it before??
    thanks xx

I love how the Feria rich mahogany looks but I colored it more than a week ago and it is still bleeding onto my nice white shirt collors. Its been very warm and my neck sweats -RED. What to do?
