Review: Rimmel London Sexy Curves Mascara

rimmel_london_sexy_curves_mascaraCurves seem to be the in thing lately thanks to celebrities like Beyonce. Oh and I am grateful, especially since being a mother means I have curves whether I want them or not.  When it comes to my lashes, I definitely want lashes that curve but hate putting an eyelash curler to my eyes (thanks to pinching myself far too often. ouch.)  So while at CVS a few weeks ago I decided to pick up Rimmel London’s newest mascara, Sexy Curves, with the hopes that it would be a quick fix to provide my lashes with some awesome curving action.

The mascara brush is a little funky with 3 prominent “bumps.” While Rimmel says that these put curves in all the right places, I honestly think it’s just tricky marketing. The dips in the mascara wand meant that the formula didn’t hit sections of lashes, while the bumps did. So I found myself simply using the tip of the mascara wand to apply the mascara to all of my lashes equally. A bigger and fancy wand is really unnecessary. But did the mascara itself work?

Why yes it did. I’ve come to realize that you can’t judge mascaras based on the first few uses. For some reason, that I can’t quite explain, the more a mascara is rimmel_london_sexy_curvesexposed to the air when used, the thicker the formula becomes. The first few times I applied this mascara, it seemed kind of thin and really didn’t give me much volume. However, I’d say by use #3 it was working pretty fabulously. As you can see from the pictures, my lashes look well coated and definitely curved, though not as separated as I would have liked. The formula wasn’t clumpy at all and went on pretty flawlessly.

rimmel_london_mascara So overall I am happy with the outcome even if the mascara wand is a PIA. It only cost about $7, so that is quite a bargain considering the price of a lash curler and the possibility of taking an eye out (Ralphie’s mother would be proud.) You can find this mascara at your local drugstore, Target and drugstore.com. Have you tried it? I’d love to hear what you thought.

I have been unable to find a mascara that didnt bother my eyes. I have tried so many in the past several months and have spent alot of money and had to throw the tubes away after just one use. I found an ad in a magazine for a free tube of your Sexy Curves full volume & Curve Mascara and thought what do I have to lose so I got my free tube and was skeptical to try (since they all bother me) but I tried a light coat the first day and had no problem what so ever I WAS SO EXCITED TO FINALLY HAVE FOUND A MASCARA and I love the wand it is GREAT, it really makes your lashes full and puts a great curve on your lashes. I now can wear mascara again, YEAH. So I want to thank you and Im so glad I tried your product. I will be willing to try other items you have. I have told everyone I know and keep raving about your mascara.

Finally i saw this mascara on tv and i was like omg i have to have it and hen i used it it came on and looked perfect.my tips are spin the brush while using it or moving the brush from left to right while applying. also my can just apply from the inside part of your eyelashes.but on some nice eyeliner and sone liquid glitter eyeliner (mine is from sephora) or just blue, brown, red,or green eyeliner to the outside of the eye top and bottom, and you’ll look great for any occasion!

i thought this mascara was horrible! i have long eye lashes but they are very thin. i used this mascara and all it did was make my eyelashes stick together making me look like i had 4 long eyelashes. horrible. i wouldn’t recommend this to anyone

your lashes look fantastic. i never paid much attention to rimmel as a brand, but i may try this mascara. but the wand looks a bit weird.

Why oh why can’t they invent a non clumping mascara?

I thought this product was horrible. yes the looks of it looked promising but it does not even grip anything becauuse of the brush. the brush is so thin and has fuzzy dots on it so you get nothing and it stinks.

this is literally my favorite mascara of all time, and i have EXTREMELY sensitive eyes with thin crossed eyelashes.
you take the brush and you do the double dip after you unscrew it (we alllll do it sometimes, haha)
ANYWAYS put it at the very base of the lashes and spin it away from you as you apply it from root to tip.
then the weird seemingly annoying brush puts this amazing lift and curve into your eyelashes. Two coats does the trick.
this product and a simple eyeliner makes my eyes amazing, and thats with my thin criscrossed lashes. they are separated and amazing. i love it i love it i love it i love it.

I am the Editor of http://www.realgirlsrealbeautybyglitter.blogspot.com and I recently tried this product for my blog and I would have to say that I am fairly happy with it. It evens out my lashes, and yes a few stick together but I soon realised that it was because of the way I was using it. I recently got eyelash extensions and since they are already thick, and I only want the curve, and this brand really worked for me. I wouldn’t recomend it to someone without eyelash extensions. It is also good for hiding your normal eyelashes for the use of Fake Eyelashes. It is also good for school girls that aren’t meant to be wearing makeup, as only the curve of the eyelashes shows!

I also love the fact that you have the option of waterproof and non-waterproof as I dont like the consistancy of waterproof, plus I live in a dry area so there is no necessity for waterproof.

    Thanks Emma x
