Besides speaking at Cosmoprof this past July, the best part about attending it was coming across beauty brands I had never heard of before. New York Streets was one such hair care collection I had never encountered, but was captivated by as soon as I saw the packaging. Getting someone’s attention in a sea of salon sameness is always a big obstacle for a brand to overcome, yet New York Streets got mine. And actually they don’t consider themselves a “hair care collection” but more of a “hair culture collection.”
New York Streets is a salon-only hair care company that is simplistic in nature, as there are only 8 products in their sku. So it falls in line with the “back to basics” concept. All products are sulfate and paraben-free and are safe for color treated hair. What I loved about the packaging is that they use real people instead of models to create the brand’s “story.” Inside each container (with a manhole cover for a top!) is a small bio about the person on that container. I think it’s a genius concept because it gives someone a persona they can possibly relate to versus a celebrity, which always seems so far out of reach.
Have you used this product line? I’d love to hear what you thought.
