YSL Spring Collection: Mauve Silk and Opera Rose

YSL Mauve SilkThe weather has been amazingly beautiful here in Northeast PA the past week. And do you know how I know it is Spring? No, not from that owl that sits outside my window as nature’s alarm clock at 6am…but because of all of the palettes of makeup arriving at department store counters and online boutiques with their soft hues that say we can finally be done with our winter look. YSL’s Spring makeup collection began selling out from the day it launched and rightfully so, the colors are very chic!

La Laque in Mauve Silk: This is the perfect shade of lavender! It reminds me of Springtime in Rhode Island, where I grew up. Specifically making a trip with my mother and younger sister to find the perfect Easter dress. My sister always loved purple. YSL’s Mauve Silk, using a basecoat and topcoat, lasted about 4 days before beginning to chip at the tips. Although, I believe that has a lot to do with the fact that my line of work has me typing at my computer 24/7.

Rouge Volupte in Opera Rose: The first thing you notice when you take the cap off of the lipstick is the smell of berries. Sweet raspberries to be more specific. Opera Rose is a brighter, perkier pink on your lips than what you see in the casing. At first I almost thought it was very Melanie Griffith circa the late 80′s, but the bright color eventually wore on me after a few times of use.  The texture of this lipstick is creamy and the top of the case has a mirror for easier application. Worn without a lip liner, the staying power is about an hour or so.

For all orders placed before Sunday night, March 21st, YSL is offering a complementary miniature size Gommage Natural Exfoliator. Just use code GIFT10 at checkout.

So what do you think of their Spring collection? Is there any thing you are lemming for?

I like this color a lot, too, it reminds me of a really Easter-esque color. I like it, very springy =]
