Worst 80′s Hair: A Girl’s Gotta Spa! (sm) + Redken Giveaway

Redken-Time Reset lineDo you know what this week is? My birthday week! And every year I always do some giveaways as my present to you for being such awesome, loyal readers of A Girl’s Gotta Spa! (sm).

I am a product of the 80′s, which means when fashion trends revolve around 80′s signature looks, I get super excited. I still have a color block sweater from high school for pete’s sake. When I found out that Redken 5th Ave. launched a Facebook App hair quiz called “Did Your Hair Survive the 80’s” in conjunction with the recent launch of their Time Reset hair care collection, I knew this would be the perfect partnership for a giveaway.

Contest details:  scan0004(That’s me on the left in 1988, I was 13. I enjoyed sporting my jean jacket with lots of flare, purple eyeshadow and a big hairdo my friends dubbed “Brillo pad.”)

Prize: Redken 5th Ave. Time Reset Shampoo, Conditioner, Youth Revitalizer, Take Home Porosity Filler and Corrective Defense.
Retail value: $64

What you have to do: First, if you are not already a fan, please “Like” A Girl’s Gotta Spa! (sm) fan page. Second, post the most ridiculous picture of your hair from the 80′s on there and tag your picture. Be sure to add a caption with it, ie. “My Aqua Net infused hair was no match for rain, sleet and snow.” (This was true of mine for sure!) Get your family and friends to “vote” for your picture by going to the fan page and Liking/commenting on your pic. The picture with a combination of the most Likes and comments will win. (*Make sure it is not done on your profile, but on the fan page where I can see it to count it.)

Not required, but would definitely love if you could follow A Girl’s Gotta Spa! (sm) on Twitter as well, simply because I enjoy talking to you all.

Contest dates: Saturday August 14th-Monday August 23rd at 11:59PM EST. Winner announced on August 24th.

Legal jargon: Contest only open to legal US residents who were born prior to 1980. Only one entry per person total. Redken has provided the prize to A Girl’s Gotta Spa! (sm) for free for this giveaway. No purchase necessary to enter or win. No cash or product substitutes will be given. I can cancel this contest at any time without notice.  You give me permission to use your name and picture in the winner announcement post.  Contest is void where prohibited.

I had the 80′s hair with the real big poufy hair on top and the half of can of hairspray to hold the huge pouf in place. I was with friends one night and was playing with a lighter. Needless to say, since I had layers of hairspray in my hair, it went up in flames. My friends jump over the table and start hitting me in the head to put it out. Luckily I was not hurt but I still laugh at that. Sad thing, I did it again a couple months later. lol Now that I am older, I’m not much of a hairspray fan. :-)

Back when I had a just a few gray hairs I dyed my hair. I had that kinda losided do and I also wanted a few curls so I gave myself a perm. Well since I am not a beautician I over processed it and had a very nice fry do. I remember putting alot of Wella (cant quite remember the right name) product to calm it down. Let’s say now that I am really gray I leave all processing up to the lady at the beauty shop!

omg goodness Tracy! That’s pretty funny!

Lynne, I too had a perm back in the day. Do you remember when “piggy back” perms were all the rage? ha!

Ok, Big hair = this perm already naturaly curlyhair, blow dry it straight to feather it and lift then curl it with a curling iron , use a pick to loosen and SPRAY the heck out it = BIG Beautiful HAIR

I do remember the Piggy Back Perms. I had long long hair with the PG Perm and really short sides and top. I guess it was a female version of the mullet. I thought it was gorgeous at the time.
