Review: Boom Boom Brow Bar

I’ll start off this post by letting you all know that prior to visiting the Boom Boom Brow Bar during Fashion Week, the last time my brows got some love was in early October of 2010…right before I relocated to Florida and tearfully said goodbye to the woman I considered my brow savior (she really did save my brows after a makeup artist shaved them and covered up the deed with brow powder….imagine my shock that day after washing my face…)

After that experience you can probably imagine my hesitancy in going to a stranger in a new state to have my brows done, so I opted to just leave them in their disheveled state until the next time I was in Minneapolis (not until May).  I was fine with this decision until I realized that I would be in the midst of very well groomed fashion folks for an entire week, so I reached out to the only person I knew who could and would steer me in the right direction…the girl that has just gotta spa, Shannon Nelson, and of course she did not disappoint (the woman is a spa guru).

Shannon referred me to the Boom Boom Brow Bar in the West Village in NYC and as soon as my flight landed , I  headed straight over to the West Village for some boom boom (seeing as how it had been a while) and it was love at first sight.  The space is amazing…it’s cute, fun, feminine and without giving too much away there’s underwear hanging from the chandelier.

The names of the services offered are hilarious…I will occasionally visit their site randomly throughout the day if I’m in need of a “feel good” moment. After filling out a brief  questionnaire about my skin, Beth (who would be my brow guru for the next 20 mins) consulted with me about my brow goals, gave me her thoughts and off we went to make brow magic together…actually she did more of the magic making, I more or less just sat there.

One of the services offered at Boom Boom is brow tinting, which I have always avoided out of sheer fear, but knowing that I was in very capable hands with Beth (who told me that if I went a bit darker with the tint my brows would actually look fuller so I would not  have to fill them in), I decided to have my brows tinted as well.

I was amazed at my results, I swear my entire face looked cleaner…more awake immediately.  My brows did in fact look fuller…not to mention very well groomed, how she achieved all of that in about 20 minutes  still amazes me.  Now if I could just figure out a way to fly to New York every four weeks for my monthly dose of Boom Boom
