Review: Borghese Botanico Eye Compresses and Spa Pillow

When you are stressed, haven’t gotten your complete 7-8 hours of beauty sleep or ate way too much Chinese food (or any salty food for that matter), it shows on your face; specifically your eyes. Dark circles, puffy bags around your eyes, we’ve all experienced them at one time or another. And when you don’t have time for a complete Spa-tervention, 5 minutes is all you need to decompress and de-stress your eyes (and mind.) Borghese’s Botanico Eye Compresses have rescued me a time or two from bags showing under my eyes while giving me the perfect excuse to simply rest (it’s all in the name of writing a review I tell  myself!)

I received my eye compresses from Borghese as a complementary part of their new Spa Pillow from their Villa Di Borghese collection with Botanical Down Alternative. What is Botanical Down Alternative? It’s a blend of Micro Fiber Down Alternative and Lyocell Fibers…in other words: heaven. The Spa Pillow is no longer than a 12 inch ruler width wise, so this is more like a travel sized pillow…except that I actually use this pillow to sleep on because it is that much more comfortable to sleep on than my other down pillows.

Dear Borghese, please make a full sized version of your Spa Pillow. Sincerely, Shannon

But I digress (even though I hope they are listening.) With the Spa Pillow under my head, shoes off and lights out, I placed the Botanico Eye Compresses on my eyes (closed of course.) I was surprised that the compresses actually felt cool considering they were simply sitting on my bureau at room temperature. It is the coolness that does the most work when it comes to soothing puffy eyes. Sure, you could get the same effect from a bag of frozen vegetables, but really, where’s the fun in that? Not to mention I would be too busy laughing at myself (and my kids along with me) at the mere sight of frozen bags of corn on my eyes.

The Botanico Eye Compresses also contain Goldenseal, Tea Leaf and Witch Hazel, also known for soothing the skin around the eye area. The scent is like most Borghese products, herbal-like, but lovely. My eye area felt refreshed and just the 5 minutes of relaxation was a great reminder that I need to do that more often.

If purchased alone, the Botanico Eye Compresses are $51 for 60 compresses. The Spa Pillow is $29 and comes with a deluxe sample of Botanico Eye Compresses. You can find both at www.Borghese.com.

Thanks for this review. I have had dark circles under my eyes for a few weeks now with no idea of how to get of them. I hope this product will do the trick!
