It’s my typical hair care ritual every late Spring into Summer to highlight my hair. I’d usually go to the salon, but unfortunately my favorite stylist moved to a salon down in Philadelphia. So I ventured into CVS and grabbed a frosting kit that said it would give me caramel highlights…which really turned out bottle blonde. (And I kind of overdid how many highlights I’d have.) Needless to say, I wasn’t too excited about how I looked–even my kids told me they liked my hair better just plain old brown. How boring.
I waited about a month hoping the color would grow on me, but it never did. So back I went to CVS, this time picking up Garnier Nutrisse Nourishing Color Creme in Cocoa Bean. I knew I was taking a chance dying my hair brown over the blonde, but was tired of looking kind of ruddy that I didn’t really care. Have you ever felt that way?
The kit is super easy to use, as most of the product already comes in the bottle. You simply have to add the creme and the Avocado Oil capsule and shake. Apply root to tip (with gloves on) and wait 20 minutes. Then rinse, apply the conditioner for 2 minutes and rinse again. I didn’t wash my hair for 3 days to ensure the color didn’t fade immediately. (When I did, it was with a sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner.)
I did get different results than what was on the box, but I attribute that to my previously lightened hair. The brown was richer and where my hair had been highlighted blonde, now had a red hue to it. Which I don’t mind in all honesty because then it is kind of like I have highlights in my hair. And you know what? Brown is kind of sexy.
Have you used Garnier’s Nourishing Color Creme?
