Champneys Spa Indulgence Review

Give yourself the royal treatment!  Champneys, the world-class U.K. spa favored by Princess Diana, has launched their luxurious products in the US!  You’ll be pampered like a princess and pay like a pauper because the super-affordable products range from $7.99 to $12.99 and are available at Target, and

Champneys Spa Indulgence bath and body line, delivers the holistic benefits of visiting a Champneys spa in the comfort of your own home!  The line includes body lotions, hand and nail creams, shower gels and various moisturizers in four scents:

  • Mediterranean Bliss – white heart floral, coconut and olive leaf
  • Oriental Opulence -exotic patchouli, honey and coconut
  • Exotic Retreat – olive leaf, mango and coconut
  • Citrus Blush – an uplifting aroma of  lemon, orange peel and cardamom

As you probably know by now, I’m addicted to body scrubs in an effort to rid myself of my “chicken” skin, so I chose the Mediterranean Bliss Body Glow to try. Here is how Champneys describes the fragrance:

An opulent fragrance with a white floral of tuberose, jasmine, lily of the valley and white rose petals with spicy exotic ylang ylang and petunia on a warm combination of sugar cane, vanilla, fresh ginger and pink pepper. Fruity twists of cassis and apple entwined with a Mediterranean citrus accord of bergamot, mandarin and neroli oil create a vibrant top note while precious woods, patchouli, sandalwood and vetiver add richness to a base of amber, moss and musk.

Champneys Mediterranean Bliss Body Glow: The scent is quite pungent when you sniff the jar, but when it’s on the skin, it settles down and is nothing short of fabulous. I immediately envision myself at a cafe on a seaside cliff on the Amfali coast sipping a foamy cappuccino. I probably saw that in a commercial–whatever.  The floral, fruity flirty scent last well after your shower and leaves you feeling alluring and seductive.

The texture has both small and larger “scrubbies” made from olive stone granules for good exfoliation without feeling harsh. Combined with olive oil, coconut oil and shea butter, this scrub leaves skin soft and moisturized.

The texture is grainy enough to be an effective exfoliator, but still soft enough to not scratch or irritate skin. The combination of olive leaf, fig, milk and green tomato is extra-moisturizing and I don’t even need to apply lotion after using the scrub. (Though sometimes I do, just for good measure.)

“An invigorating body scrub, with the right application, can help to stimulate dull, lifeless skin and leave your skin feeling smooth and conditioned.  Plus, it’s a great way to invigorate the senses and refresh the body to feel revitalized,” Beauty Expert and Champneys Spa Director Jo Parker says.

Key ingredients are:

Olive stone, granules, salt and sugar–natural body exfoliators to help boost circulation (which also helps cellulite), remove dead shin and stimulate dull and lifeless skin.

Olive Oil – provides moisturization, is an effective emollient and has a high level of skin nourshing and soothing properties.

Shea butter – has healing, emollient and protecting properties. Has a softening effect on the skin and counteracts increased dehydration of the skin, therefore helping to maintain skins suppleness.

Coconut Oil – is highly nourishing and protective for skin

Champneys recommends using this scrub twice a week and I agree–I think that’s perfect for keeping your skin smooth and soft. I found it best to get wet, step away from the water stream, slather the scrub (you really don’t need much) all over and massage in, then rinse off quickly. If applied in this manner, you will step out of the shower is a nice, thin layer of oil on your damp skin. Rub the oil into your damp skin and just pat dry. Your skin will feel supple and very hydrated without feeling greasy. My legs still feel hydrated today after using this scrub before bed last night!

Packaging is stylish and as classy as you can get with plastic. The blue and gold  jar looks expensive and makes a nice addition to any bathroom.

If you’re looking for an indulgent treat at a budget price, the Champneys Spa Indulgence line may be just right for you–as well as Princess Diana, Daniel Craig, David Beckham & Kate Moss. I can’t wait to hit up Target for the Mediterranean Bliss Shower Gel and Body Hydrator!

Note: I reviewed Soap and Glory Flake Away ($18) a few weeks ago. Flake Away has S&G’s signature Pink scent, if you prefer more botanical or spa-like scents, you may like the Champneys Spa Indulgence line and it’s few bucks cheaper too $12!
