Every fall I feel the need to go back to being a dark haired brunette. Aren’t you sick of your highlights by the end of the summer?
I had kind of botched a DIY home highlights attempt at the beginning of the summer, then used Garnier Nutrisse (which covered those ultra-blonde highlights fabulously.) But that was June and it’s now October, well past the 6 week mark of holding the color. The summer sun had its way with my hair, so now that gorgeous color is faded. I was ready to go dark brown again when Clairol’s Nice n’ Easy reached out to me about their Color Blend home hair color that promises 8 weeks of tones and highlights.
Nice n’ Easy Color Blend ($7.99) layers rich tones and contouring highlights in one simple step. The best part is that it only took a total of 35 minutes from beginning to end to go from drab to fab. And since I do have pesky grays that rear their ugly heads often, reminding me of my age, I was happy to learn that there is also 100% gray coverage with this formula as well.
As you can see from the before and after picture, the blonde is gone, as is the auburn coloring my hair had faded to. Not only did it cover my old color, but it gave it a boost of brown. While the after picture looks like a medium brown, the top picture where my hair is a very dark brown is the accurate color. I blame it on the lighting in my bathroom. I used 117D, which is medium natural cool brown. I didn’t expect it to come out as dark as it did, however, I’m not disappointed either. Everyone who has seen my new cut and color compliment me and tell me it looks great. Even my 8 year old son, Duncan, told me I look younger with the dark brown. He also mentioned that I looked Japanese…so maybe he is not the best judge of hair care results.
Salon looking results are so affordable and I’m glad I tried this product. I’ll update this post in 8 weeks to give my final take if it lived up to its claims of lasting 2 months. Have you tried Clairol Nice n’ Easy Color Blend?
