Last spring I tried the strange and amazing Eyeko Skinny Brush Mascara with pretty great results I might add. Originally launched in the UK, Eyeko Mascaras have crossed the pond and taken up residence in Sephora stores all across the country, at Sephora inside JCPenney’s and at Sephora.com. Now beauty industry veterans Max and Nina Leykind have created an über easy to use precision eyeliner too. Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner Black hit stores in August of this year.
As if that wasn’t enough good news, Eyeko has created the Skinny Mini Duo ($16), a mini Skinny Brush Mascara and a Skinny Mini Liquid Eyeliner in black. This is a perfect set to keep in your makeup bag for touch-ups, as a stocking stuffer or for travel.
The Skinny Brush Mascara does an excellent job of both separating and lengthening lashes thanks to the unique wand. The bristles actually wind around the wand alternating between shorter and longer makes it easy to catch those teeny tiny lashes in the corners and it really IS skinny making it super easy to use. The squeeze tube packaging allows you to get every last bit and it’s adorable! The full size Eyeko Skinny Brush Mascara comes with an exclusive EyekoShield–a tool designed to help lengthen and maximize curl. It looks like a turquoise guitar pick. Kinda nifty!
The Skinny Liquid Eyeliner is incredible! I was able to get the PERFECT winger liner in ONE stroke! For a klutz like me that is astounding! The tip has the ideal amount of firmness and you don’t get too much product coming out of the tube. The formula is paraben-free and features the key ingredient Sodium Hyaluronate to ensure that color glides on and doesn’t crack or fade. It was actually fun using this pen and I was able to achieve the look I wanted without having to start over. Whether you want a sweet kitten flick or full-on Amy Winehouse drama, Eyeko’s Skinny Liquid Eyeliner performs beautifully!
Makeup Artist Polly Osmond’s tip: “Create a dramatic yet wearable look by applying the liner 1mm above the lash line. Wing it out slightly following the under eyeline upwards, ending in a flick to create a double fine line.” I think I’m going to try that!
Bottom Line: this is a fun duo that performs beautifully. This mini set allows you to try the products and experiment without spending a bundle! I’m thinking of picking up a few sets as stocking stuffers.
