I absolutely love the idea of nail wraps, (or stickers as some like to call them), but I haven’t had much success with them in the past. Determined to get it right this time around, I tried the new special edition ncLA nail wraps that were just released from Cult Beauty. ncLA collaborated with some top Hollywood nail artists and fashion designers to release some limited edition (and totally fierce) nail wraps. Forget nail art, these wraps are like murals for your fingers. I tried the special edition nail wraps designed by jewelry and accessory designer Melody Ehsani and they are Rihanna-level fierce. With nail art I usually play it safe, but I couldn’t resist the geometric black and white design.
Wanting to achieve total success, I followed the directions very closely and took my time. ncLA’s nail wraps come in different sizes for different fingers and are easy to cut if you need to customize the size for your nail. For $16, you get 2 sheets of 22 wraps and a ncLA nail file to buff the edges of your nail. Unlike other nail wraps, the instructions said to paint your nails with clear polish before and after applying the stickers. I’m glad I followed the directions because that definitely contributed to these wraps staying put. While I adore the fun patterns and the ease of removing the stickers from the sheets, these wraps left me thinking that maybe I’m still doing something wrong even though I followed the directions. When I run my fingers through my hair, the outside edges of the wraps get caught in my hair and pull strands out. Ouch!
I think next time I’ll just use the nail wraps on a few nails and paint the rest of my nails black. Having all ten fingernails coated with a black and white geometric pattern is just a little too busy for me and that will reduce the chance of messing them up!
While I adore these nail wraps, I’m thinking practice makes perfect and I might need some more practice.
*Tip* After buffing my nails with the provided file, I still didn’t love the look of the way my nail and the sticker were blending or sealing, so I trimmed my nails with clippers and I’d like to say that it sort of sealed the sticker and my nail together.
Have you worn ncLA Nail Wraps? What are your tips to completely sealing the sticker to your nail (for this brand or any other brand you’ve used)?
