Aside from the gown, wedding makeup was a priority for my big day. I know I’d have to combat with heat and humidity, my combination skin, as well as a lot of crying (I was marrying my best friend after all!) The beauty products chosen for my bridal makeup were carefully selected, as there was no way I was leaving anything to chance!
(Oh by the way…I got married!)
Thankfully my new sister-in-law, Olya Smyth, is a makeup artist, so she came over to apply my wedding makeup. While she used some of her favorites (and I’ll mention those below), I had a few must-haves I asked her to use as well.
Urban Decay: Everyone knows that Urban Decay’s Eye Shadow Primer Potion will ensure that your eye shadow won’t crease or smudge. My lids are always oily and even most “won’t crease” eye shadows usually crease on me. The Eye Shadow Primer Potion is an absolute must-have regardless if it is your wedding day or not!
They also have a Brightening and Tightening Complexion Primer Potion that I had Olya use on my forehead, nose and under my eyes.
Urban Decay De-Slick Mattifying Powder comes as a white powder, but goes on translucent. I had her apply it to my t-zone and it did an excellent job of keeping those usually shiny areas of my face matte.
Lastly for Urban Decay products, I spritzed my face with De-Slick Makeup Setting Spray. Urban Decay and Skindinavia partnered for this product and it works like a charm! Between the primers and setting spray, my makeup didn’t budge all day in the humidity!
Three Custom Color Specialists: I’ve known Chad and Scott forever, so when it came to a lip stain I knew I could trust, Three C was a no-brainer. I asked them if they’d be willing to create a custom lip stain that was part red and part guava (guava was the color theme for the bridesmaids dresses.) What I got was a gorgeous color that created a flushed lip and looked great in photos!
L’Oreal: Their Voluminous Volume Building Mascara works great on my lashes. I love how dark my lashes are and the volume.
Lorac: Olya had some favorites from Lorac that she said she uses with every bride. She used Lorac Red Carpet Reveal Palette for my eye shadow, Lorac TANtalizer Baked Bronzer and Lorac Baked Matte Satin Blush in Flaunt.
Make Up For Ever: Olya applied their 5 Camouflage Cream Palette Concealer followed by their HD Foundation. I have to pick this stuff up for myself! Loved it!
Rimmel London: Soft Kohl Kajal Eye Pencil in Jet Black. I’ve never used Rimmel eye liners before and this one held up. Great product!
Aside from my wedding day makeup, a few other things were key as well…
The Lodge at Woodloch: One of my favorite destination spas in Northeast PA, their Lotus Salon gave me a unique twist on a French Manicure that included the color of my bridesmaid’s dresses via SpaRitual.
Donna Karan: Donna Karan Cashmere Mist Anti-Perspirant Deodorant was something that was recommended to me by Beauty 411. The last thing I wanted to do on my wedding day, in 80 degree heat with ridiculous humidity, was to be the bride with BO. No thanks. Nancy told me that DKNY Cashmere Mist would be a lifesaver and she was right, it held up from the time I applied it in the morning post-shower until way past dancing on the dance floor hours and hours later. I was amazed.
L’Oreal: Advanced Haircare Smooth Intense Xtreme Straight Creme. Although we added curl to my hair, this hair treatment is perfect to combat frizz, which was much needed on this humid day!
NuMe: For the waves, my sister used the curling wand from NuMe’s 3Sum Styling Set. No Shirley Temple curls here, just nice soft curls.
Therafit: When I co-hosted the #therafitglam Twitter party with Bryce of The Luxury Spot, I fell in love with Therafit’s Tiffany White Sandal. I knew I had to have it for my wedding reception so that I could dance comfortably. The best part is still wearing them every day.
For my something blue…I picked up these beauties on Etsy from MLE Jewelry!
Have you used any of the products mentioned? Would love to hear your favorites!
