Keeping Your Legs Beautiful at Any Age

Keeping Legs beautiful at Any Age #beautytips

Our legs do so much for us that it can be too easy to take them for granted. We expect them to do any job we throw at them, whether that’s standing in front of a class full of children, running back and forth between our office desks and the photocopying room or more exciting things, like dancing for hours or getting us through spinning class. But there are times when we might be expected to have them on show, such as on the beach, at the pool or when we really need to wear that little black dress. There are ways, however, to keep your legs looking as fabulous as possible, no matter how many candles are on your birthday cake.

Exercise

While there are plenty of great, body-shaping tights available these days, the sad truth is that the only way to make sure your legs are as toned as you’d like them to be is to actually move them. It doesn’t have to be anything too strenuous, as long as it’s regular. For example, a twenty-minute walk each day will pay great dividends and you can extend that to something a bit longer on days when you have enough time. Swimming is also a great form of exercise for the entire body, not just the legs. In addition to helping you keep your muscles toned, exercise helps improve the circulation in your legs, keeping varicose veins at bay and feeding your skin.

Look after your skin

There are some danger spots on your legs that can be particularly prone to rough and dry skin, especially during the colder weather, when you tend to be bundled up in woollen socks and jeans. Your knees, heels and the soles of your feet are quite likely to develop hard or flaky skin, which can even become painful if you leave it. The best way to deal with this potential problem is to exfoliate regularly, either with an exfoliating cleanser or by using a sugar or salt scrub, a pumice stone or similar item.

There are several indulgent legs and foot care products you can use to give your feet a treat and to keep them from looking old and dull. Check for hard skin, which you can remove easily with a pumice after a few minutes in the water. After your relaxing soak, pat your feet dry with a soft towel, and apply some moisturizing cream or luxurious oil, leaving you with smooth, soft, sweet-smelling feet.

Add the finishing touches

None of us have the time or money to lounge on beaches all year, but it has to be said that a nice pair of smooth, hairless, tanned legs looks beautiful. There are many depilatory products, such as home-waxing kits or hair-removal creams, that make hair-free legs very easy to achieve. Furthermore, there is no need to put up with pale legs when there are many excellent fake tans available that are really easy to use. A well-applied fake tan can also have a slimming effect, which can make your legs even more attractive. And finally, don’t underestimate the effect a simple coat of nail varnish can have on your toes; you can either show them off in sandals or let them make a surprise entrance when you kick off your shoes and put your feet up.

The older you are, the more important it becomes to take care of your legs, but with these simple steps, there’s no reason why your legs shouldn’t remain as beautiful as you are.
