Jem and the Holograms The Movie #JemtheMovie

This, friends, is truly outrageous. Truly, truly, truly outrageous. Word on the street is that a Jem and the Holograms movie is becoming a reality.

When I heard the news, I could barely contain myself. I mean, it’s showtime Synergy.

Obviously, everyone loves nostalgia. Jem and the Holograms with their arch rivals, The Misfits, will make every female Gen X’er squeal. When I was a kid, I simply could not wait to watch this show, as I was taken in by the glamour and glitter, fashion and fame. My sister and I would act out the scenes, I’d be Jem and she’d be Stormer (she has always been a little bit of a badass with a good side.)

I could be excited for the simple reason of turning 40 this year and that whole “mid-life crisis” thing. I mean, did I live my life up to this point as adventurously as Jem did?  Jem and the Holograms gave me high expectations for my life (and love life, because – Rio.) Although, why weren’t we pissed that Rio was trying to swoon Jem and Jerrica at the same time despite us knowing they were one in the same person?

But I digress…

More than the movie, I am most excited by all of the branding opportunities that will happen. From jewelry (especially earrings) to cosmetics to nail polish and fashion, I will seriously be jumping on that bandwagon. Just thinking out loud, I foresee Sugarpill Cosmetics creating a palette inspired by The Misfits (maybe even The Stingers.) For Jem and the Holograms, I think that will be Urban Decay. I can’t even wrap my head about the nail polish, fashion, jewelry and other accessories like wigs, hair chalk, etc. OMGosh and the music. What.

So let’s speculate! Who would you love to play Jem and Rio? Kimber or Stormer? Which brands do you think will come out with Jem the Movie inspired products? Leave a comment and let me know.
