NARS Kauai Eyeshadow Duo Review

Review: NARS eyeshadow duo #makeup

NARS can do no wrong. They are like that best friend that always knows the right thing to say and do. NARS products always deliver exactly what I’m looking for and the newest additions to their Spring 2014 Color Collection are the perfect pop of color and fun! PERFECT for Spring and Summer! This season, color is everything! (As long as it’s not the kind of color that leaves you looking like you’re on stage performing with Kesha! You know what I mean?) With bright colored shadows, I’m always careful that I’m not painting my face like a clown. I love to have fun with color, but the texture of the shadow and the way it applies can make or break the shadow and the color it claims to be.

The new NARS Kauai Eyeshadow Duo ($35) with Gold Lame and Iridescent Smokey Orchid is everything! The color is perfect. Metallic, gentle, blendable, and most importantly buildable! Both shades in the compact are soft and light, but can build darkness with layers. The first thing I noticed when I applied these (together, with the gold lame on my lid and orchid on my crease and corner) was that there was no shimmer falling onto my cheeks! AMEN! The shadow was almost creamy (without being a cream) and stayed on my lid without flaking onto my face. The colors can be worn intensely, true to color , or lighter with just a quick sweep across your lid. You could even be so daring as to use these are a liner with a wet liner brush. It works and I love this for the lower lid. This is the kind of shadow that allows you to have a glamorous eye EFFORTLESSLY.

Kauai color on the left is Gold Lame. It’s a gold-ish silver. It doesn’t really look gold on your lid unless you use a generous amount of it. The metallic look is so hot right now and NARS is doing it best. The color isn’t so metallic that you feel like you can only wear it to a nightclub. It’s soft enough for a random Tuesday work day!

Kauai color on the right of the compact is Iridescent Smokey Orchid. If you don’t usually do purples on your eyes, this is the perfect way to play with the color and ease into it. The color is nicely metallic and buildable. The texture is really soft and is a gentle shade of violet. You don’t need much of this shadow to make your eye pop. It’s super-pigmented and blends so nicely with the gold lame for a complete eye.

To put it simply, I’m obsessed. This shadow is such an incredible quality and applies beautifully. It’s the perfect addition to your beauty line up for Spring and Summer!
