In 2005, Shannon Nelson launched her beauty blog, A Girl’s Gotta Spa! (sm), as a way to bring relevant and easy to understand product reviews with a dose of honesty, integrity and humor to women across the globe. As one of a handful of beauty bloggers at the time, it resonated with women looking for product opinion before they made a purchase.
In 2006, she partnered with b5media LLC to write Makeup Minute and was brought on board as Chief Blogger and Publicist for Pierce Mattie Public Relations. By 2008, Pierce Mattie Public Relations promoted her to the role of Corporate Communications Director. That same year she also began social media consulting with beauty brands independently regarding their social media strategies.
Shannon’s ability to balance her role as a blogger and social media consultant have given her unique insight into the beauty industry from both the consumer’s perspective, as well as from a branding standpoint. Her vast experience and knowledge of social media combined with a strategy-driven focus and ability to explain various initiatives in straight-forward, easy to understand language, have positioned her as a go-to resource for many beauty brands.
She has been a guest speaker for ICMAD, Spa Clique, the HBA Expo and Cosmoprof North America. She has been quoted in publications such as Glamour, Woman’s World, NailPro, Trendi, GCI and On Makeup Magazine, American Spa, Beauty Store Business Magazine; among other press. She has had the privilege of working with beauty brands such as Three Custom Color Specialists, Renée Rouleau and Travertine Spa. She has also written articles for American Spa Magazine and the Times Tribune.
A Girl’s Gotta Spa! (sm) can be found on top ranking blog sites such as Total Beauty and All Top. A Girl’s Gotta Spa! (sm) has recently been listed as one of the Top 50 Beauty Blogs by Konector and as one of the Top 9 Beauty Blogs by Beauty Store Business Magazine. Shannon currently contributes to HyperMommy Magazine, a regional Northeast PA print magazine, in their wellness section and consults with beauty brands regarding social media.

Shannon lives in Northeast PA with her four young sons, who are of course, the most beautiful children in the world (but who’s bias?)
