DIY Moisturizing Banana Facial and Hair Mask

DIY Banana Hair and Face Mask via @agirlsgottaspa #beauty #DIY

Lately I have been somewhat obsessed with bananas.  Being insanely busy for the past two months has reintroduced me to how versatile bananas can be.  In the morning I blend them with almond milk, blueberries and medjool dates for a simple, quick and super filling smoothie or will slice them and add to my muesli or coconut milk yogurt.   When I’m really rushed for time I have a banana with a few almonds for a filling, yet healthy snack.  Little did I know that in addition to being filling and  convenient, bananas also have amazing benefits for skin, hair and my overall health and well-being. Cleansers for Natural, Textured, Curly Hair

Right now my hair looks and feels dry, lackluster and just downright sad. I know that I could’ve taken better care of my hair, but sometimes it’s much too easy to neglect my hair care routine and just disguise less than stellar hair with a cute braid or bun. Agreed?

I decided to start the process of devoting more time to healthy hair by reevaluating the products I use to clean it.  A lot of shampoos actually have a drying effect on my hair (textured, curly) so finding an alternative to drying shampoos was my first order of business.

From the Lab Hair Cleanser via @agirlsgottaspa #beauty #hair

This first hair cleanser I tried in my quest to undo the havoc I’ve wreaked on my hair was a non-sudsing, oil-based shampoo called From the Lab Transforming Hair Cleanser No. 724Read more

Perfective Ceuticals Divine Brightening Mask

Perfect Ceuticals Divine Brightening Mask #review via @agirlsgottaspa #skincare
As much as I have enjoyed summer and am sad to see it come to an end, I was not enjoying how dehydrated my skin looked and felt thanks to a lot of time spent outdoors celebrating summer in all of her sunny glory.  I want to welcome fall and all the polished perfection that accompanies her with skin that looks and feels perfectly hydrated, soft, glowing and dewy.  I love wearing darker lip colors during the fall months and I feel like an amazing complexion is the best complement to a dark red or wine colored lip. Aqua Spa Body Cleanser Review

Aqua Spa Body Cleanser #review #beauty via @agirlsgottaspa

I strongly believe that one should make time spent in the shower as relaxing and enjoyable as possible…even if it’s one of those two minutes showers that seem to be occurring with more frequency as we are all continuously pressed for time.

One of the best ways to turn shower time into a mini-spa experience is by incorporating a body cleanser that smells and feels so amazing that it transports you…even for a  few seconds to that  A Girl’s Gotta Spa! state of mind.  I manage to transport myself to that state of mind most mornings and evenings with Aqua Spa’s Lavender + Chamomile or Citrus + Ginger Body Cleansers.  I love using the Citrus + Ginger Body Cleanser in the morning and the Lavender + Chamomile Body Cleanser in the evening. Essio Aromatherapy Shower Kit Review

Essio #Aromatherapy Essential Oil Shower Pods #review #beauty #wellness #skincare via @agirlsgottaspa
Being able to transform my shower into a spa-like experience is my idea of absolute bliss, so one can only imagine my elation upon hearing the words “aromatherapy shower kit.”

Immediately upon hearing those few words, pictures of a completely relaxed, zen-like me began dancing in my head. Needless to say, I could hardly wait to get my hands on this magical product that would allow me to turn my boring old shower time into an invigorating spa time.

This magical product that I speak of is the Essio Aromatherapy Shower Kit.  The kit includes a shower arm and essential oil pods and is exceptionally easy to use…honesty it took me less an a minute to attach the arm to my shower and insert the essential oil pod. Best of all? Set up required zero tools.  After setting up was compete, all I had to do was turn on my shower water and tilt the pod into the stream of water and the essential oils began to diffuse into my shower. LAQA&Co Fat Lip Pencil

LAQA&Co Fat Lip Pencil #review #beauty #makeup
I love products with a story behind them, which is why I am positively crazy in love with LAQA&Co. Fat Lip Pencils.

The Fat Lip Pencil is a glossy jumbo lip pencil that does not need a sharpener, which I think is absolutely brilliant because there is nothing worse than having to purchase a sharpener for every brand of lip pencil that I decide to try (which is A LOT.)  The LAQA&Co. Fat Lip Pencil has a beautiful glossy sheen with a lightweight, smooth, moisturizing feel on my lips and a refreshing minty scent and taste. Read more

Karin Herzog Choco2 Face Cream Review

Karin Herzog Choco2 Face Cream #review #beauty #skincare #chocolate via @agirlsgottaspa
I’ve always considered myself lucky when it comes to my skin.  Sure I’ve had the occasional pimple or was inconvenienced by random dry skin or oily skin a times, but it was never out of control or got to the point where it was a stressor for me.

I wish I would have appreciated what I had at the time because for the past year I have been battling with constant acne…the kind that leaves scars, skin that goes from extremely dry to severely oily and a dull complexion.  I have tried facials, soothing and calming face products, diet change, water filters…you name it, I’ve tried it and while some of these attempts at a solution would briefly work or would take care of one of my skin issues, it would exacerbate the rest.  Not one of these “fixes” ever got my skin back to the state that it was in prior to this past year, so I’ve been learning to live with (but not accept) the new condition of my skin. This just means that I’m still trying different means of getting my skin under control. Read more

La Fresh hello Eco-Beauty Lip Treat Review

La Fresh Eco-Beauty Lip Treat #review #lipcare #beauty

In the summer, the last thing I want to do is to apply any sort of sticky or gooey product to my lips.  I am a lip gloss fanatic, but even the lightest gloss is too much product for me when it’s sweltering.  I will usually just opt for lip balm and add a water-based stain if I want a bit of color, preferring to keep my lips as natural as possible.

Since I tend to forego lip colors for the most part during summer, I like to ensure that my lips look and feel their absolute best without having to layer on the products.  La Fresh hello Lip Treat has become the lip product that I can rely on to soothe and moisturize my lips with ingredients like shea butter and cocoa butter.  This La Fresh Hello Lip Treat also contains collagen-producing oligopeptides and a blend of  of sweet almond, jojoba, peppermint & cinnamon oils to smooth fine lines and shape lip contours. Sabon Loofah Soap

Sabon Loofah Soap Review #beauty #soap

Exfoliating my body is one of those acts of beauty that I try to perform about twice a week. I love how soft, smooth and radiant my skin feels and look after exfoliating. However, as much as I love freshly exfoliated skin, sometimes I am just too lazy or don’t have the time to perform a proper, thorough total body exfoliation. This is where my new best friend the Sabon Loofah Soap comes in.  Sabon Loofah Soaps are glycerine-based soaps poured into natural loofah (sea sponge).  They smell downright delicious (I especially love the Amber and Lemon.) They contain natural ingredients like Coconut Oil, Glycerine, and Sea Loofah. Read more

DIY Cooling Cucumber Mask

DIY Cooling Cucumber Mask #beauty via @agirlsgottaspa
During my two month stay in Bali, a significant amount of time was spent at Amo Spa in Seminyak.  I enjoyed the most amazing spa treatments that I’ve every experienced and though I have only been back in the US for a week, I am going through serious Amo Spa treatments withdrawal.  I figured the best cure for my withdrawal symptoms was to try to recreate one of my favorite Amo Spa moments at home.

One of the many things I loved about Amo Spa was the little luxuries that they took the time to incorporate into their treatments.  One such luxury was the cucumber mask that was always applied to my face during a facial, massage and body scrub.  The cucumber mask consisted of thinly sliced cucumbers sliced lengthwise (not rounds) and left in the refrigerator to cool, then applied directly to the face.  In hot and humid Bali, this cucumber mask was an absolute dream.
