During my two month stay in Bali, a significant amount of time was spent at Amo Spa in Seminyak. I enjoyed the most amazing spa treatments that I’ve every experienced and though I have only been back in the US for a week, I am going through serious Amo Spa treatments withdrawal. I figured the best cure for my withdrawal symptoms was to try to recreate one of my favorite Amo Spa moments at home.
One of the many things I loved about Amo Spa was the little luxuries that they took the time to incorporate into their treatments. One such luxury was the cucumber mask that was always applied to my face during a facial, massage and body scrub. The cucumber mask consisted of thinly sliced cucumbers sliced lengthwise (not rounds) and left in the refrigerator to cool, then applied directly to the face. In hot and humid Bali, this cucumber mask was an absolute dream. Read more
A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of visiting a coffee plantation in the Kintamani region of Bali thanks to my fiancé’s obsession with the Luwak Coffee that is produced in this region. The plantation we visited not only produced Luwak Coffee, but also produced ginger, turmeric and a host of other spices, fruits and vegetables.
At some point in the tour I mentioned to our guide that my sister and I have been using coffee grounds as a scrub for a few years now and it is still one of my favorite DIY body scrubs. Our guide in turn told me that a lot of the women in that area also use coffee grounds as a scrub as well, but they combine it with ginger powder, turmeric powder and coconut oil for paste/scrub that is great for your skin. A few days ago I had the pleasure of experiencing yet another amazing spa treatment in Bali. This time it was an absolutely sinful massage that included hot stones, cool slices of cucumbers and warm lavender towels at my beloved Amo Spa. While the massage was absolutely incredible, what impressed me even more was the Full Body Dry Brushing pre-treatment that was was offered as an add-on to my massage. I was completely unfamiliar with dry skin brushing, so of course I HAD to try it. Read more
Nothing says complete and utter relaxation to me quite like indulging in a massage, especially a 75 minute long massage, followed by total body exfoliation, body mask and a luxuriating soak in a warm flower-filled bath. This is how I spent two hours at a spa in Bali thanks to the suggestion of a woman I was lucky enough to share a taxi ride with. As soon as I got out of the taxi I knew where I was headed to next: Bodyworks spa in Seminyak, Bali. Read more
The first time my fiancé described a Balinese Creambath to me, I swear I heard harps playing and birds gayly chirping in the background as he waxed poetic about what sounded positively heavenly. Now four years later we are in Bali and the first order of business for me was to experience a Creambath first hand. There are a ton of spas and salons that offer this service, but I wanted to experience the specific treatment he had described to me exactly the way he described it, which led us to Amo Spa in Seminyak, Bali. The recent record-breaking cold weather that has been imposed on us this winter has been pretty stressful on our skin. In prepping my legs to be dress ready for Spring, a serious exfoliation was in order (and yes, a shave!)

I consider my naturally curly hair both a gift and a curse. When my hair decides to behave in its natural state, it is a huge mane of defined, bouncy curls that I positively revel in, but when my hair decides to act up, it become a pouf of frizz or a saddened state of lifeless curls that I cannot wait to get rid of.
Usually whenever my hair does act up, it is mostly due to the styling (products) I chose to use. Either the product was too heavy and weighed my hair down or not hydrating enough and caused my curls to transform into a ball of frizz. Rarely do I ever use just one product to style my curly hair. A couple to a few products are usually required to get those bouncy, shiny, hydrated curls that I always desire. Read more
The thought of soaking in a bathtub filled with hot water, for me, is the epitome of complete and total relaxation.
Imagining my muscles relaxing, any knots in my body unwinding and my mind being completely at ease, is just sheer bliss. Add an amazing bath soak containing epsom salts, organic olive oil, and four different essential oil blends and bath time becomes the ultimate at-home spa experience as it was for me when I first tried Everyone Bath Soaks. When it comes to achieving beautiful skin, I believe that it’s always best to start from the inside out.
I’ve seen firsthand the difference in my skin when I eat a healthy, clean, well-balanced diet as opposed to when I eat processed foods. Not only do I feel more alive and energetic when I eat healthy, but my skin looks so clear, glowing and healthy that I can actually skip makeup. Since I am a bit…a big bit…OK, a huge fan of snacking, I try to make sure that I snack on foods that are also healthy, nutritious and great for my skin. I’ve gathered a list of snack foods that are tasty, filling, healthy and have amazing skin benefits. Read more
