In the summer, the last thing I want to do is to apply any sort of sticky or gooey product to my lips. I am a lip gloss fanatic, but even the lightest gloss is too much product for me when it’s sweltering. I will usually just opt for lip balm and add a water-based stain if I want a bit of color, preferring to keep my lips as natural as possible.
Since I tend to forego lip colors for the most part during summer, I like to ensure that my lips look and feel their absolute best without having to layer on the products. La Fresh hello Lip Treat has become the lip product that I can rely on to soothe and moisturize my lips with ingredients like shea butter and cocoa butter. This La Fresh Hello Lip Treat also contains collagen-producing oligopeptides and a blend of of sweet almond, jojoba, peppermint & cinnamon oils to smooth fine lines and shape lip contours. Read more
Believe it or not, a blogger’s makeup bag is not always overflowing with products when we travel. Most of us have a handful of products we are loyal to simply because they get the job done while home or away.
I recently spent some time in Atlantic City and asked fellow bloggers Kelly Augustine from www.KellyAugustine.com and Lyuba from www.WillCookForSmiles.com what their must have beauty products were while traveling. Watch the video to hear about our favorite beauty products and then find the links to all of them below: Read more

I think I can speak for most of us when I say … I am so over this winter! It can feel free to exit stage left anytime now.
This winter has been brutal! Snow removal has been a pain, navigating the slippery roads has been a disaster, and the cold has been killer on my skin. Being a compulsive lip balm and moisturizer user, I don’t remember ever feeling as dry as I have this winter. I’ve never had (or needed) a special Winter skin care regimen. My usual daily moisturizer and lip balm were all I needed … until this Polar Vortex-out of control-freezing cold-full of snow-winter we are in the middle of.
My skin hates this winter and to be honest, it started to get a painful. My poor face actually started to hurt and my lips … oh my lips … they were SO dry it was painful. My usual routine wasn’t cutting it this winter, so I’ve enlisted some new products to join my daily routine and I can report that I am dry no longer. I’m thankful for that. It was a terrible feeling to smack my lips together and have it hurt. Same goes for my face. The Groundhog saw his shadow, so we’ve got a bit longer to suffer this winter! If you’re experiencing dry skin or dry lips, here’s what did the trick for me. Read more
I very much appreciate beauty products that are conveniently packaged, meaning that it’s easy for me to carry them around with me in my purse or gym bag and they are TSA approved for my carry-on. I also love beauty products that contain ingredients, which are both organic and responsible. My love and appreciation of these qualities in beauty products is precisely why as of late it is practically impossible to find me without my Clean George Chill Out Stick. Read more
You go to apply your favorite lipstick, only to have your dry, peeling lips magnified by like 100. Your sexy pout is no longer so sexy. Been there, done that.
Nothing adds more life and vitality to your lips than giving them the rub down with a good sugar scrub. We have our favorites, do you see yours among them?
Beau Bain’s lip scrubs rank high for me. My favorite is their Mint Mojito. I love it so much that I literally licked it off my lips post-scrub. While sugar, of course, does the scrubbing, shea butter, avocado oil and Vitamin E do the softening. Their scrub comes paired with a lip balm, which is great to apply before bed, or to wear when you simply want to keep your lips moisturized. Read more
As a caregiver, both on the floor as a nurse who works 12-hour night shifts and a parent of children with special needs, I often don’t get the recommended hours of sleep. Yes, I’ve seen all the studies of just how bad lack of sleep is for you…and no I would not recommend skipping out on the Z’s if there is a choice on the matter, but the truth remains that it is part of my (and many other caregivers) unavoidable realty.
Since this is the case, instead of stressing about it, I implement little things throughout my day to help revive my energy and keep my look lively. First, it’s part of my self-care routine. Secondly, I truly believe that it helps those I care for to know that they are in good hands. I mean do any of you really want a tired-looking stressed out nurse to walk into you or your loved one’s hospital room and say she is the one who’s going to take care of you for the next 12 hours? Not if we had the choice, right? I am not sure of many who would contend the ideal notion of wanting a nurse with a positive attitude, know-how, and a put together look that sends an unspoken message of trust.
The saying goes, “A picture is worth a thousand words.” So, since I have recently been struggling with anemia and recovering from a painful injury, I thought it would be a neat opportunity to allow a personal picture story post for you as I got ready for work. Here is a peak at my paler then usual face (from lack of sun, sleep, and anemia), undone hair, and the five product lines I used to transform and revive. The last pic is a must see for the transformation!
Step 1: Take a refreshing shower with Marc Anthony (pause, lol) sulfate-free Oil of Morocco Shampoo and Conditioner for some super workable soft hair. When you get out of your makeshift oasis, toss in a bit of his Argan oil treatment and then some volumizing mousse. I am very picky when it comes to my hair products, as I have plunged the pocket in the past and came up with less than satisfying results. However, I am happy to report that Marc’s line is healthy for your hair, fantastic feeling, and super-easy on the wallet. It’s hard to find this type of a triple threat! Read more

Whenever I see the words all natural, mostly organic, and use of biodegradable and recyclable packaging applied to beauty products, it becomes pretty much impossible for me to resist trying said products. My latest beauty temptation was products from Meow Meow Tweet, a line of all natural, organic, vegan products created in Brooklyn, NY by couple Tara and Jeff. Read more
W3LL PEOPLE is a majorly buzzed about makeup brand right now and it’s no wonder why. They’ve managed to create a line of makeup that is not only 100% natural, but it’s also fabulous. Other brands tend to lose the fabulosity (is that even a word?) when trying to please the tree hugging goal of au natural, but not W3LL People. Like they say, Hippie Tested. Diva Approved. One of the most under-protected parts of your body when it comes to sun exposure, is your lips. I’m definitely guilty of applying lip gloss regularly, most without SPF, which is like a big UV magnet. Anyone willing to admit the same? Read more
Once summer arrives, I need everything to feel and be light, simple and effortless. From my clothing, to food to my beauty products, everything needs to have that summery carefree essence to it. Do you agree?
Which is why a few of my beauty products from winter, fall and even spring just do not make the cut for summer. During the cooler months I don’t mind feeling like there is a layer of protection between my skin and the dry, damaging chill of fall and winter. However, in the summer while I still need the protection, I really do not want to feel the products on my skin. I’ve had to retire a few of my lip products for the time being, especially my heavier lip balms and opt for lighter feeling, but still hydrating lip products. Read more
