If you’re anything like me, whether you’re searching for the right shade to color your hair at home or to request of your hairstylist at the salon, seeking the perfect hair color is a priority. (There was this one time when my hair wound up a weird shade of red….) But it goes beyond finding the right color by simply saying, “I like this shade of red.”
According to Patrick McIvor, expert hair colorist and Artistic and TechniCultural Director for Goldwell/KMS California, to find the perfect color, three factors must always be considered. Read more
If you read my Urban Decay Naked 3 eye shadow palette review, you could probably tell that I’m pretty much obsessed with UD’s Naked line. My passion for their eye shadows drove me to hunt down the new Urban Decay Naked Ultra Nourishing Lipgloss ($20) the moment it was available. No really, I literally called around to every Sephora and Ulta within an hour’s drive to see if they had any in yet. My local Sephora had just gotten a few in and they weren’t even on display yet. Pretty much the entire US is currently experiencing awful winter weather. Even here in Marina del Rey, CA, I’ve had the heat on for at least the past week. Along with that dreadful extreme winter weather comes dry, flaky skin which is never a welcome sight…or feel. To get my skin moisturized I’ve been relying on Korres Japanese Rose Body Butter.

The Body Butter is also chock full of antioxidants enzymes as well as wheat protein, which promotes healthy skin and possesses regenerative properties. Read more
“True beauty is not related to what color your hair is or what color your eyes are. True beauty is about who you are as a human being, your principles, your moral compass.”
Growing up I always wanted to be like my older cousin Kelie. She has gorgeous skin, the biggest brown eyes that always seemed to sparkle with light, her hair never seemed out of place, when she smiled her dimples gave her this innocent quality, she could wear a face full of makeup or go bare faced and still looked like she could grace the pages of a magazine, and she was physically fit. Because we didn’t live too close to each other, in my younger years I would only see her at large family gatherings, mainly when my family would vacation down Prudence Island. (We had quite the family compound there.)
When I knew I would have a full week down the island, I would literally absorb every moment I could with her. From being the third wheel with the guys she dated, to hanging out in her house watching her do her hair and makeup, to going down to the docks at night with the rest of the vacationing island teenagers. I practically suffocated her with my presence almost as if somehow being near her would make me as beautiful as she was. When we didn’t see each other, we’d write letters (yes, the old fashioned in the mail kind) and I would soak up every word, oftentimes reading the letters over and over. To put it bluntly, Kelie was and is my muse. Read more
When you visit a spa, you want your entire body to be pampered. Your tired muscles are massaged, your face is rejuvenated and perfectly moisturized, and your hands are elegantly manicured. If you pay all this attention to the rest of your body, then why not do the same for your feet as well? A spa pedicure can be a truly special experience, particularly if you know what to look for and where to go.
However, the sad truth is that spa pedicures vary considerably in quality. (I totally see you nodding in agreement.) In some spas, a pedicure doesn’t amount to much more than having your toenails buffed and polished (been there, done that), whereas other spas provide an amazing range of treatments. So, exactly what should you look for when you are choosing a spa to look after your feet? Just what is the perfect spa pedicure? Read more

In winter, colder temperatures and indoor heating deplete moisture in the air, which can leave hair parched, so it’s important to replenish moisture to prevent breakage and promote shine. Ruth Roche, Artistic Ambassador for Pureology Serious Colour Care offers 5 tips for getting the glow back.
1. Get a good trim to remove frayed ends, they tend to be dryer and more damaged than the rest of the hair strand.
2. Use a clarifying treatment to remove styling product buildup that contributes to lack of moisture and dullness. Pureology Purify Shampoo is a great one – it’s sulfate-free and safe for color-treated hair. Read more

Being part Italian, olive oil was always a staple growing up in my childhood home. As a child, I never knew the health benefits my parents and grandparents were passing on to me, all I knew is that it added delicious flavor to my food. Once I began to work in beauty, I was mesmerized by all of its benefits to skin, as well.
Olive fruit oil is high in Vitamin E, which we all know is fantastic for its anti-aging properties. It’s high in oleic acid and is a good skin cell regenerator. It works to attract external moisture to the skin, while still permitting the skin to properly release sweat, shed dead skin and release sebum. Read more
