In the skin department, Summer usually means oilier than normal skin for me.
Which also means clogged pores, and at times, acne prone skin accompanied by dehydrated and irritated skin thanks to time spent in the sun and insane amounts of sunscreen.
One of the best ways that I deal with summer skin Read more

But it's not true. Sure, you won't be able to bury yourself under a mountain of bubbles, but you don't have to Read more

Before starting GuruNanda’s Pulling Oil, I had heard about the practice of oil pulling, but I had never done it myself nor had any close friends or family who had done it. Although, there is a ton of information on the ancient practice of oil pulling readily available at my fingertips, I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect (the taste, feeling, etc.)
Oil pulling is an ancient Ayurvedic procedure. It involves using oil as a mouthwash and swishing it in your mouth for about 15-20 minutes, then spitting it out. This action is meant to pull out toxins in your body and is very beneficial for your health, especially your oral health. Read more
If coffee, cigarettes, red wine and food have left their mark on your teeth, you’re not alone. “The rule of thumb is anything that can stain a white T-shirt can stain your teeth too,” says Sharde Harvey, D.D.S and principal in New York-based Smiles Park Avenue, a practice that specializes in cosmetic and restorative dentistry.
Some surprising foods such as steak, cheese and dark chocolate whiten teeth, while sauces, juice and curry can stain teeth, Dr. Harvey advises.
While you certainly don’t have to give up your morning cup of coffee or your evening glass of red wine, if your teeth are discoloring, you might want to consider consuming less and thoroughly rinsing your mouth with water after you’re done eating or drinking, according to Dr. Harvey.
Dr. Harvey’s foods that stain your teeth include: Read more
I always love the first few months of the new year. Not because it is fresh with possibilities, at least not when it comes to New Year’s resolutions, but because it is award season! This is the time of year when the red carpet is ablaze with hot trends, inspiring hair and makeup looks and plenty of oh I’d love to duplicate that moments. While The Golden Globes and Oscar’s are filled with elegant and demur looks, music is my first love and I’ll take GRAMMY-inspired beauty any day.
True, the looks on the red carpet at the GRAMMY’s are usually cutting edge, maybe a little more revealing than you’d like (at my age showing my arms from the elbows down is as revealing as I’ll go), but there are plenty of commonalities that all celebrities follow in order to have a successful camera-ready red carpet look. I’ll break them down, that way you, too, can follow these same steps for your big event and leave the paparazzi (aka your husband, boyfriend, significant other) vying for your attention.
Beauty Prep: These are the things you do leading up to the big event – things you need to plan out in advance.
With the new bright lipsticks for spring and summer you want your smile to be bright and white too. A bright lip with a yellow smile is not attractive. Now whitening has been made quick and easy–no trays, strips or tons of dollars spent with new products from Colgate® Optic White®. I’ve been on this regimen for about a week now and I CAN notice a difference! I’m actually amazed at how well these products work! I’ve been using all three of these products: Read more
One of the quickest and now easiest ways to take years off your appearance is to have dazzling white pearly teeth. I’m a tea drinker so my teeth probably need a little more help than yours might, but I don’t really want to spend hundreds of dollars at the dentist’s office. For around $100 the dentist can give you trays to take home, but I don’t want to deal with all that mess and goop. So what are the options?
You can go to the drugstore and buy whitening strips–but they NEVER stay and slide off my teeth. Maybe I’m just cheap but $45 for a box of strips that don’t stay put is annoying. Good news beauties! There IS a solution– The GO SMiLE On-The-Go Teeth Whitening Pen. It a click pen designed with a twist-and-apply brush tip. The pen contains a brightening formula that makes a significant difference in just one week! Read more
With party season kicking in, it’s an optimum time for quick-fix beauty treatments. Celebrities and people alike swear by regular teeth whitening as it promotes a youthful, healthy smile.
Most of us know the causes of stained teeth – most of our daily pleasures! Tobacco is one of the worst offenders and there’s no getting away from it. Coffee, tea, and soda are culprits as well. Other possible culprits include fruit juices (especially grape), red wine, fruits such as blueberries, soy sauce and curry. Think of it this way: if a food or beverage can leave permanent stains on clothes or carpets, it can probably taint your teeth. Aging also contributes to the yellowing of teeth. The enamel, which is the hard outer coating of your teeth, wears thin, allowing the underlying layer of yellowish dentin to show through. Read more
I was head over heels in love with my Supersmile Professional Whitening from the very first brush. Normally whitening systems, trays, strips, etc. always leave my teeth feeling almost painfully sensitive, but I experienced absolutely zero sensitivity with this system. The whitening system I purchased came with the Professional Whitening Toothpaste and Professional Whitening Accelerator. You just use a pearl sized drop of each on a dry toothbrush and then brush for two minutes and that is literally it. My teeth were instantly smoother which is due to the gentle dissolution of the protein pellicle (a thin layer of protein that forms on the tooth surface, and to which plaque, bacteria, and of course, stains adhere) on my teeth. My teeth definitely looked cleaner and brighter right away…I kid you not, I saw the difference immediately and just to make sure I didn’t imagine whiter teeth, grabbed a shade guide to compare and my teeth were indeed two shades whiter after the first brush. I do think my teeth would have been even whiter had I chosen to purchase the Activating Rods (which enhances whitening results). Read more
