When I was in college I often went skiing in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. I always tell myself that one day I’ll get back there (but this time to check out the spas in addition to the skiing!) One of those places is Stoweflake Spa and Wellness Center in Stowe, Vermont. Surinda Oberai Cavanagh, Spa Director and Ayurvedic Consultant at Stoweflake Spa and Wellness Center, offers A Girl’s Gotta Spa! readers these tips to stay stress free and glowing this holiday season.

What I looked forward to most as a child at Christmas wasn’t necessarily about what was under the tree, but instead what bath and body products would be found in my Christmas stocking. This became even more important as a teenager because I knew my girlfriends and I would be discussing who got which scent and would be wearing it religiously. Can you relate?
So if you have a bath and body addict on your list this year, here are some of our recommendations for our Bellashoot Bellas as to what may bring the sparkle to their eyes and glow to their skin: Read more

I always feel like the conclusion of the Thanksgiving holiday is congruent with the sound of a gunshot for the 100-meter dash until the Christmas and New Year holidays. I’d usually include Hanukkah in that statement too, but as many of you know this year it began Nov 27th and ends Dec 5th, so I guess my Jewish friends and families shopping alarms went off even earlier this year. At any rate, we will all be attending the various business parties, gatherings, and hopefully at least one night out on the town over the next month til we hit the celebratory wall on Jan. 2, 2014. During this time of the year I love having candles with holiday inspired scents constantly burning in my home. It gets me in the holiday spirit and creates a warm, welcoming atmosphere for guests. I am generally crazy about anything that smells like baked holiday goodies; pumpkin, chocolate peppermint, Christmas cookies…you get the picture. I love most areas of my home smelling like my favorite desserts during the holiday season, but my bedroom and bathroom are the exceptions. Is it the same for you? Read more
With the holidays wrapping up in just a few days, I’ve found myself scrambling to cram in as much Christmas cheer as possible, whether it’s blasting Santa, Baby or wrapping up gifts for those I didn’t get to see over the holidays. And now to my complete and utter delight, I can work a little Christmas into my beauty regimen, too.
Demeter has always been one of my go-to sites to scout scents because of their amazing selection of one-note fragrances…and I was psyched to discover they have 2 scents that capture the absolute essence of Christmas – Egg Nog and Christmas Tree.
Egg Nog is a deliciously sweet scent that I now habitually spray at my desk for an instant pick-me-up and a smile. Its creamy, vanilla-nutmeg aroma will make you immediately want to curl up in your softest sweater with a hot cup of cocoa.
Christmas Tree leaves nothing to the imagination. One spritz of this transported me to Christmas Tree hunting with my dad as a child – the fresh scent of fir is inarguably delicious. Because the scent is quite strong, it’s not something I prefer to wear as a personal fragrance, but I’ve been spritzing it all over my apartment throughout December. It’s almost as good as a real tree! Read more
For someone who wore nothing but French tips for years, I’m really embracing the festive sparkly finishes in nail polish this season. The two polishes pictured above are both new from Revlon. The red polish on the left is Ruby Ribbon and has not only glitter but tiny bits of gold tinsel. It works beautifully on it’s own or layered over other solid colored polishes. I tried to capture the complexity 0f this polish but my camera skills are lacking. Suffice to say the bar glitter, sparkle and density of Ruby Ribbon is stunning and it definitely looks like a much more expensive polish. Read more

I love Las Vegas. Not for the casinos (I don’t gamble) and the 24-hour party atmosphere (exhausting), but for the little known part of Las Vegas known for relaxation–the spas!

As indicated by the title of this post, I tend to lack any sort of motivation when it comes to styling my own hair. Don’t get me wrong, I will definitely spend time on improving the health of my hair with deep conditioners, but as far as styled hair I tend to stick to three insanely easy styles that require the minimum amount of effort.
These include either a ponytail, loose bun/top knot, every once in a while a braid or I just simply leave it down…like I said, not a lot of effort. This suits me just fine all year with the exception of the holiday season. I, like most others, tend to get sucked into the sparkly glamour that seems to define the holiday season and I feel the need to do something a more with my hair, but I just do not have the skill, knowledge, patience or motivation to go all out. So I decided to stick with what I already know but just add a bit of sparkle. I figured that this would be a great time to make use of some of the barrettes I ordered from France Luxe and have never used. Read more
