Verb Detangle+Defrizz Conditioning Leave-In Mist Review

To be completely up front about things, I hate washing my hair because it's a nightmare to comb afterwards.  It’s much like that of a 6 year old little girl. It tangles like nobody’s business and is a nightmare to comb after washing. It’s so bad that my hairdresser Read more

Delfin Spa Cellulite Reduction Apparel and Anti-Cellulite Lotion Review

Everyone deals with cellulite. And no one is a fan of it. We've written about coffee ground products like Gail's DIY Coffee Scrub or isola Jamaican Coffee & Sugar Scrub, that are said to help minimize the appearance of cellulite due to the caffeine. Now there is another product system Read more

Makeup Tips: Senna Mineral Eyeshadow Trio with a Bright Lip

DSCN7754

When I first received this Senna Mineral Eyes Shadow Trio in Satin Doll in a Glossybox I wasn’t impressed. It wasn’t as pigmented as expected and really blended out too easily. I promptly put it in a drawer to be forgotten and there it sat sad and unused. Fast forward to the beginning of spring and you’ll find me digging through my stash for something exactly like this! A Girl’s Gotta Spa! Featured in Spry Living Mom Makeover

Don’t forget to enter our Mom: Get Glamorous Contest (entries taken until May 24th!)
Join our Twitter Party on May 15th from 1pm-2pm EST #momglamorous

When Spry Living Magazine asked me if myself and two A Girl’s Gotta Spa! bloggers would be interested in making over our moms, we didn’t hesitate to say yes. Myself, Ashley and Hillary all participated in Spry Living’s Take Year’s Off Your Looks Instantly (web and print) story and Making Over Mom with tips.

Each of our moms had challenges that prevented them from updating their look. My mom had hair loss/thinning hair, sagging skin, etc. all related to bariatric surgery she had two years ago. Ashley’s mom has nerve damage and a disability when it comes to the use of her arm. Hillary’s mom was nervous since losing all of her hair so long ago (but it has since grown back.)

From skin care to hair care to makeup, here’s the breakdown of the products used to transformed our moms.

Spring Makeup Tips: Neutral Eyes, Cheeks with a Pop of Color

So now that spring has officially sprung and the snow is fading, I’m finally starting to leave my house! Whew! When I am just heading out to run errands I like to choose a look that is quick, easy, but spring pretty. It only comes around once a year so I had better take advantage while I can!

My easy face look is a BB Cream and my personal favorite right now is from SKIN79. I also need a concealer but if you’re lucky enough to not, then congratulations. I have been using my Maybelline Age Rewind under my eyes in the shade Brightener. For dark spots or blemishes I used my Sheer Cover Duo Concealer. Read more

Pixi Endless Silky Eye Pen and 2nd Star Twinkle Reviews

Pixi eyeliners review Today we’re going to take a look at the Straight On Till Morning Liner in 2nd Star Twinkle from the PixiGLOW Tinkerbell Collection and Endless Silky Eye Pen in True Teal. These eyeliners are on par with Urban Decay 24/7 liners; creamy, highly pigmented and budge-proof.

The packaging is darling! The box as well as the liner has a lovely vine and flower design in pastel colors with Tinkerbell making her appearance.

2nd Star Twinkle is a gorgeous olive green with gold shimmer. I find it looks beautiful with all eye colors. It brings out the green in blue eyes, adds a glow to brown eyes, and adds sparkle to hazel eyes. The texture is so smooth there is no skipping or tugging on over 40 eye lids. This liner absolutely will not come off until you remove it with eye makeup remover.

I suggest using 2nd Star Twinkle with neutral eye shadows for a hint of glimmer and to add some interest and dimension to neutral looks.  Read more

Urban Decay Glinda Palette Review

The Glinda Palette from Urban Decay is rather new & absolutely lovely. With some duochrome shimmers, neutral shades, & a gorgeous taupe I’m one happy girl. For this look I went with something wearable but with a pop of purple liner for some fun. For this look you’ll be using 4 of the 8 shades included along with the liner. I also used the Urban Decay Super-Saturated High Gloss Lip Color in Glinda which is an ultra wearable mauve toned pink.

To recreate this look:  Read more

Aveda Art of Nature Makeup Review

Aveda’s a pretty well known cosmetics, hair care, and skin care company who strives to connect beauty, environment, and well being. They aim to care for the world we live in with the products they make to give back to society. I think Aveda has an all together pretty amazing cosmetic line. As many times as I have had the opportunity to work with their makeup, I have never been disappointed. I also enjoy the fresh scents the cosmetics give off while applying.  Read more

Hard Candy Lip Gloss, Eyeliner and Lip Pencil Review

The next time you’re perusing the aisles at Walmart looking for eggs or bread, take a detour at make a stop at the makeup section (like you don’t already). Don’t let the glittery, teenybopper display fool you, there is some good stuff there. Seriously, Hard Candy has some awesome products and even more awesome prices!

Walk the Line Liquid Eyeliner ($6) is an extremely long wearing liquid eyeliner with TONS of glitter– too much for my taste. The colors are beautiful however. I tried Turquoise but I think it much more of an emerald shade, regardless it is a rich deep jewel tone.  Read more

Eyeko Skinny Mini Duo Review

Last spring I tried the strange and amazing Eyeko Skinny Brush Mascara with pretty great results I might add. Originally launched in the UK, Eyeko Mascaras have crossed the pond and taken up residence in Sephora stores all across the country, at Sephora inside JCPenney’s and at Sephora.com. Now beauty industry veterans Max and Nina Leykind have created an über easy to use precision eyeliner too. Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner Black hit stores in August of this year.

As if that wasn’t enough good news, Eyeko has created the Skinny Mini Duo ($16), a mini Skinny Brush Mascara and a Skinny Mini Liquid Eyeliner in black.  This is a perfect set to keep in your makeup bag for touch-ups, as a stocking stuffer or for travel.  Read more

COVERGIRL Cat Eye Tutorial and Coupon

The cat eye is a huge eyeliner trend this season, but it is one I have been wearing for years due to how it widens my eye. As I’m getting older, my lids are beginning to have more skin sagging in the crease area, so to keep the focus on my hazel eyes and not on the flaw of my aging skin, I use the cat eye as my makeup trick.

For this tutorial I’m using COVERGIRL’s LiquilineBlast Eyeliner in Black Fire, Smokey ShadowBlast in Onyx Smoke and LashBlast Volume Mascara in Very Black.  Read more
