Lighten Dark Spots with Dermalogica PowerBright Trx Trio

I'm paying for the skin sins of my youth in hyperpigmentation and an abundance of dark spots from both acne and lack of sunscreen usage. Over the years I've learned how to best conceal them with makeup in order to fake a great complexion. However, when the makeup comes Read more

Subtle Green Customizable Skin Care

Subtle Green, a Montreal-based luxury skin care company, recently caught my attention. Much of what they stand for is something I have been saying for years - "The best moisturizers do not have to contain 'miracle ingredients' developed using 'breakthrough technologies' in a remote secret laboratory." There are tried Read more

Michelle Williams Say Yes Makeup by DeeDee Kelly

Michelle Williams Say Yes Video Makeup. Details from her makeup artist, DeeDee Kelly! #makeup #Makeuptips

Michelle Williams is back with her new album, Journey to Freedom (now available for pre-order.) Good Morning America dubbed it as a “personal journey,” however my personal opinion is that it is more of a spiritual journey. On the debut track, Say Yes, Queen Bey and Kelly Rowland are featured and I am so stoked for a Christian song to go mainstream.

Michelle looks AMAZING and that meant I needed all the details on what makeup was used for the video as well as the look the makeup artist wanted Michelle to evoke. Thanks to the Indian Tyler’s Beyond the Vanity show on LA Talk Live, I discovered celebrity makeup artist DeeDee Kelly who did Michelle’s makeup for the LA portion of the video filming. Read more

3 Brow Essentials

Brow Obsession: 3 Brow Essentials

Your brows are an essential part to framing your face. Having the right tools is a necessity.

There are plenty of products out there – from brow gels to brow tints, to brow pens and brow markers and so on. What I’ve noticed lately is that there have been three brow products that I always seem to reach for.

NARS Brow Perfector ($22): This brow pencil has a velvety feel as you fill in where hair is sparse and shape where necessary. It blends perfectly, not making my brows too dark (I used Brown) and filling them out without looking “sharp” in their appearance. This pencil doesn’t budge once blended in. Read more

Manna Kadar’s Sheer Glow Review

MANNA Kadar Sheer Glow #review #makeup

I’m super excited to share with you a product I wish I had on my wedding day and am so thankful to have discovered. I spent the last year (no joke) on the hunt for a product that would give my skin a dewy glow. I spent hundreds of dollars on body scrub spa treatments, bought tons of products that claimed to give a glow, and never really achieved that dewy glow I was going for. Then, a couple of weeks, I discovered Manna Kadar’s Sheer Glow ($29). Read more

STARLOOKS Starbox Review

A Girl's Gotta Spa! Starlooks Starbox #reviewDuring summer I like to scale way back on my makeup usage, as I do with almost everything else that’s beauty and fashion related.  It just becomes to difficult of a battle to try to prevent most makeup from melting, smearing and disappearing.  I still, of course, want to look put together for all those summer festivals, barbecues, graduations and weddings, but try to do so with the least amount of products possible.

For the past two weeks I have been in a very hot and humid Minneapolis for a wedding and to spend time with friends and family over the July 4th weekend and trust me when I say that trying to look presentable makeup wise in downright muggy situations was nearly impossible.  Had it not been for my STARLOOKS May Starbox, I might not have been able to post 90% of my pictures on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or anyplace else.  My STARLOOKS May Starbox contained “Emphasize” Cream Blusher,  “BS443″ Brow Shader, and  “Cinnamon Toss” Eye Pigment, which is perfect for me since I tend to stick to a groomed brow and blush with lip balm or lip gloss during the day and will add some eyeshadow for a night out. A Girl’s Gotta Spa! Featured in Spry Living Mom Makeover

When Spry Living Magazine asked me if myself and two A Girl’s Gotta Spa! bloggers would be interested in making over our moms, we didn’t hesitate to say yes. Myself, Ashley and Hillary all participated in Spry Living’s Take Year’s Off Your Looks Instantly (web and print) story and Making Over Mom with tips.

Each of our moms had challenges that prevented them from updating their look. My mom had hair loss/thinning hair, sagging skin, etc. all related to bariatric surgery she had two years ago. Ashley’s mom has nerve damage and a disability when it comes to the use of her arm. Hillary’s mom was nervous since losing all of her hair so long ago (but it has since grown back.)

From skin care to hair care to makeup, here’s the breakdown of the products used to transformed our moms.
