No3 Berry Face Oil Review

Can I use face oil if I have combination skin? Of course you can, simply avoid pore-clogging oils and use only the ones intended to moisturize your face. L.A. Christine's No3 Berry Face Oil is comprised of Lingonberry, raspberry and acai berry, yet smells of an herbally sweet concoction. High Read more

Verb Detangle+Defrizz Conditioning Leave-In Mist Review

To be completely up front about things, I hate washing my hair because it's a nightmare to comb afterwards.  It’s much like that of a 6 year old little girl. It tangles like nobody’s business and is a nightmare to comb after washing. It’s so bad that my hairdresser Read more

Delfin Spa Cellulite Reduction Apparel and Anti-Cellulite Lotion Review

Makeup Tips: Senna Mineral Eyeshadow Trio with a Bright Lip

DSCN7754

When I first received this Senna Mineral Eyes Shadow Trio in Satin Doll in a Glossybox I wasn’t impressed. It wasn’t as pigmented as expected and really blended out too easily. I promptly put it in a drawer to be forgotten and there it sat sad and unused. Fast forward to the beginning of spring and you’ll find me digging through my stash for something exactly like this! A Girl’s Gotta Spa! Featured in Spry Living Mom Makeover

Don’t forget to enter our Mom: Get Glamorous Contest (entries taken until May 24th!)
Join our Twitter Party on May 15th from 1pm-2pm EST #momglamorous

When Spry Living Magazine asked me if myself and two A Girl’s Gotta Spa! bloggers would be interested in making over our moms, we didn’t hesitate to say yes. Myself, Ashley and Hillary all participated in Spry Living’s Take Year’s Off Your Looks Instantly (web and print) story and Making Over Mom with tips.

Each of our moms had challenges that prevented them from updating their look. My mom had hair loss/thinning hair, sagging skin, etc. all related to bariatric surgery she had two years ago. Ashley’s mom has nerve damage and a disability when it comes to the use of her arm. Hillary’s mom was nervous since losing all of her hair so long ago (but it has since grown back.)

From skin care to hair care to makeup, here’s the breakdown of the products used to transformed our moms.

Spring Makeup Tips: Neutral Eyes, Cheeks with a Pop of Color

So now that spring has officially sprung and the snow is fading, I’m finally starting to leave my house! Whew! When I am just heading out to run errands I like to choose a look that is quick, easy, but spring pretty. It only comes around once a year so I had better take advantage while I can!

My easy face look is a BB Cream and my personal favorite right now is from SKIN79. I also need a concealer but if you’re lucky enough to not, then congratulations. I have been using my Maybelline Age Rewind under my eyes in the shade Brightener. For dark spots or blemishes I used my Sheer Cover Duo Concealer. Read more

Beauty at Any Age Tips from Mally Roncal

mally-roncalI may or may not admit that my sons and nieces may ask me if I am trying to look like a teenager again when it comes to the clothes I wear, my hairstyle or my makeup of choice. I can’t help it if I have a color blocking shirt that I wore in 12th grade that still fits me and totally fits in with this trend. Who cares if it’s 20 years old…it looks like I just bought it yesterday.

But I digress.

If you are inching closer to 40 like me, or just wonder in general about beauty for any age, here are 3 makeup tips from celebrity makeup artist and founder of Mally Beauty, Mally RoncalRead more

Laura Mercier Creme Smooth Lip Colour Review

LauraMercier

You know you’ve found a new best friend in your lipstick when you receive compliments left and right on your first wear.

One of my favorite things about the changing of the seasons is getting to play with new makeup shades and change up my lip routine. During the winter months I wear a ton of lip balm because I’m obsessed with keeping my lips moisturized. Most lipsticks dry out my lips and that never looks hot, but most lipsticks aren’t Laura Mercier’s Crème Smooth Lip Colour ($26). I wish I stumbled upon this lip color a few months ago because it fulfills my need for moisture during winter and comes through with some incredibly rich color.  Read more

MAKE Cosmetics on We See Beauty

MAKE is the first for-benefit color cosmetics line launching on WeSeeBeauty.com – a for-benefit marketplace of ideas, stories and products that support cooperatives. One-third of all MAKE product sales will support the non-profit organization, the We See Beauty Foundation, dedicated to incubate and accelerate women-led, worker owned cooperatives.

MAKE Cosmetics are absolutely brilliant. There are many different colors for the lips, eyes and cheeks which are all beautifully and brightly made. The makeup I tested lasted all day, didn’t crease or smudge and was very easy to apply and there are tons of different beautiful makeup applications to choose from.  I choose (4019) Cast Iron Matte Finish Shadow, (6006 Limoges Pink Matte Finish Blush, and (5012) Magnolia Silk Lipstick.  These colors looked absolutely stunning together and could be worn for a day or night time look. They aim to care for the world we live in with the products they make to give back to society. I think Aveda has an all together pretty amazing cosmetic line. Review: bareMinerals Remix January 2013 Collection

BareMinerals launches the new Remix Collection this month and to me it has a very 80′s vibe. That could be due to the blues in The Wild Thing eye shadow quad or the new Aqua Blast mascara! Oh goodness I remember blue mascara but not in a good way so I was quite skeptical at this turquoise looking tube. The entire collection 11-pc. collection is presented in limited edition aqua metallic packaging.  Read more

TIGI Decadent Lipstick in Splendor: The Perfect Fall Shade

When the seasons start to change, I always find myself in a bit of a makeup rut – specifically when it comes to lip color. While it’s no secret that I’m a die-hard red lipstick fanatic, I like to go with something a bit lighter for early fall.

I’m not usually one for shimmery lipsticks, but Tigi’s Decadent Lipstick in Splendor totally threw me for a loop.  An earthy, reddish-gold hue, it’s slightly darker than my normal color choice… but I am totally loving it.  Decadent, indeed!

For a shade with significant shimmer, the color applied smoothly and lasted through a grande cup of coffee. As always, I still recommend a thorough lip exfoliation prior to application – all shimmery shades tend to get a bit clumpy towards the end of the day, and this one is no exception.   Read more
