Continuing to prove that nail art doesn’t need to be difficult, I asked Nidia from Lit From Within to recreate a nail look with a tutorial. For this nail art how to, Nidia took inspiration from A Nail Addict Named Sonia @badgirlnails.
First, paint your nails with a fun glitter. Go as blingy as you like, but if it’s textured, you’ll probably want to put down a thick topcoat before moving on with this look.
When you’re using striping tape, you need to wait for your base layer to be *completely* dry. You can’t fake this step. Use a fast drying topcoat if you want to hurry the process a little, but putting tape on wet polish means that the polish will stick to the tape. The key is patience! Read more
I love nail art that looks really intricate, yet is effortlessly simply in application. I asked fellow beauty blogger and fellow Pennsylvanian, A Little Polish to create a tutorial just for A Girl’s Gotta Spa! readers.
If you’re looking for some simple abstract floral nail art, here’s a tutorial to get this floral look in three easy steps, using only a couple colored polishes, a striping brush and dotting tool!
Mission: Find a long lasting manicure, as well as a nail polish that dries quickly.
Whether you get your nails done professionally at the salon or you simply do them at home, I’m pretty confident that every woman is in search of a polish that lasts longer than a day (and isn’t Shellac) and that doesn’t take 30-45 minutes to dry completely.
By a chance meeting at iRetreat2014, I got to meet beauty vlogger Julie G in the Rite Aid Wellness Lounge, who has her own line of polishes as well as being the Spokesperson for Jesse’s Girl Cosmetics. She had some samples from both lines, the JetSet Quick Drying Top Coat and JulieG Nail Color among them. Let me say, it was kismet, because I think I’ve now found the polish brand I will be loyal to for many years. Read more

Honestly, the easy button was made for people like me. There are just some things I have no patience for, and nail art is one of them. I wish I could tell you that as a beauty blogger I am super creative and uber crafty and create endless nail looks to swoon over, but the truth is, my nails go bare most of the time.
It’s a tragedy really. For some reason, ever since I wore shellac back in 2011, my nails have never grown to any substantial length. But that’s not my only excuse. I simply lack the skill required to paint cool scenes on my tiny nails. Then Pinterest to my rescue! I came across an amazingly easy nail art tutorial, and I was pretty excited to be able to recreate it with some modifications.

Keeping up with the season’s best beauty trends can be fun…but costly! (I much prefer the fun part over the expense of it all.) There’s also that Winter to Spring transition that requires a vast array of different products based on your individual needs – for example, my hair tends to lack shine this time of year and my skin looks lackluster (much like the landscape before the first flowers bloom.)
So how can you stay up to par with the Spring beauty essentials while keeping your bank account in check? Know when to spend and know when to splurge – and also know when to use coupon codes!
90% of my shopping is done online and beauty products are no exception. I first search my inbox to see if any of my favorite beauty retailers are having a sale or offering a discount. Next I head to RetailMeNot.com and type in the retailer I’m looking to purchase from. RetailMeNot will list discounts and sales for your favorite retailers – many times codes you can use in addition to the ones the retailers sent you! This is also a great way to weigh whether you should shop Sephora, Ulta, Beauty.com or your favorite department store retailer by doing a quick scan of any discount offerings. If you’re not one to shop online for cosmetics, no worries, RetailMeNot also has printable coupon codes.
When the weather begins to warm up one of the things that require a shake up is my skin care. I live in the mountains where the air is drier, as is my home from my wood stove. So Autumn through Winter my skin is like a nomad lost in the desert in search of something to quench its thirst. This is when I’m using heavier creams and serums targeted to dry skin. Oftentimes, no matter how much moisturizing I do, my skin remains parched and flakey. My hair seems to have the same issues as well. To brighten up for Spring, new skin care, hair care and cosmetics are in order!
As I move into Spring, here are my essentials – totaling under $150! Read more
Color. Something that the winter has left us devoid of and something I long for.
Scent. I simply cannot wait until the blossoms of Spring lend their fragrance.
What I’m loving right now has everything to do with color and floral scents. Honestly, I’m spending a lot of time on Pinterest simply staring at flowers, warm climates and pinning colorful cosmetics. There’s something about the power of color and fragrance that can uplift your mood. How many days until Spring again?
