The only department in Whole Foods that I normally skip is the beauty department. It’s true.
I guess I’ve always just felt that the Whole Foods beauty department contained products that would be of little or no interest to me due to them smelling weird or my assumption that they were ineffective.
Well we all know what they say about assuming. Silly me.
After actually browsing through the beauty department, I realized that Whole Foods carried some of my favorite beauty products that I normally have to search for online due to most retailers not carrying them in store. Whole Foods has now become one of my favorite destinations for beauty products that are natural, organic, cruelty free and that perform amazingly well.
A few of my favorite beauty products from Whole Foods are: Read more
Finding makeup that contains sunscreen, but does not leave my skin looking gray and ashy, has always been a challenge for me. I’m sure it has been a challenge for a lot of women of color, too.
I love and want to take care of my skin by making sure that I wear a broad spectrum sunscreen with an spf of at least 20, but I also hate the feel of too much product sitting on my face (especially during the warmer months.) It can be difficult to find makeup that also provides broad spectrum sun protection without making me look like I’ve put baby powder on my face. Can you relate??? Read more

Who can resist Paula’s Choice?
Sorry, I couldn’t help but make that joke, although I have to say that now that I’ve tried this skin care line, I’m pretty much hooked.
Prior to this review, I hadn’t tried any of Paula’s Choice skin care, although I am very much aware of Paula Begoun, the founder, as the Cosmetics Cop who is all about truth in beauty, skin care, ingredients and proven research. In fact, I had the chance to interview her when Beautypedia launched several years ago. Her website has a full encyclopedia of advice for every type of skin care concern. She is a wealth of information!
I am a true skin care junkie. I absolutely believe that it doesn’t matter how much contouring and concealing you do or how much makeup you wear – if your skin is a mess, there is no hiding that! Besides, the better you treat your skin, the less makeup you’ll have to invest in to fix your flaws. Read more
Blackheads. The bain of my existence.
I wish that when I was a teen that someone would’ve warned me about the future of my skin if I didn’t take care of it properly. But alas, here I am in my 40’s with large pores (especially on my nose) and blackheads as proof of my previous skin care sins.
With constantly clogged pores comes finding the right products that will neutralize them and keep my skin looking healthy.
5 of my blackhead banishing favorites right now include: Read more
For a long time now, I’ve been using make-up remover wipes to take off my make-up at night. It’s been easy and convenient, but it’s not always the best choice for my skin type.
I wanted to get back to using a make-up remover that wouldn’t cause me to tug on my skin, especially around my eyes, in order to remove make-up, as well as one that would nourish my skin without leaving a greasy feeling behind. I believe I’ve found that in Herbacin’s Two-Phase Make-up Remover.
Even better, it’s natural and cruelty free. Read more
As I’m about to have a baby in a week, I can’t help but think about how, two years from now, we’ll be making another transition with our family – my oldest will be going to college. It’s hard to believe that while I’ll still be changing diapers with one child, I’ll be sending off another into the world.
It reminds me of this time 23 years ago, I was preparing to start college life. Seems like a lifetime ago and I’m sure my kids would chime in that it was “back in the olden days.” But what held true back then, still holds true now. Confidence is everything when beginning a new venture. Would you agree? Read more
Block Island – a gorgeous island located in Rhode Island. Yes, many people get confused – “isn’t Rhode Island an island?” they ask me. I go on to list many islands found in Rhode Island – Patience, Goat, Aquidneck, Hog, Hope, Prudence Island… and so many more. My grandparents owned a home on Aquidneck Island, right on Naragansett Bay, that as a child I had hoped to one day inherit. Unfortunately they sold it years ago (I still hope one day I can buy it back.)
I spent countless Summer vacations on Prudence Island, which I hope to one day bring my children to. And Block Island, the place where a number of US Presidents have visited, as well as Amelia Earhart and Charles Lindbergh, is another prestine and spectacular piece of beauty in RI.
Nostalgia aside, I became obsessed with an organic skin care line named after Block Island that I want to share with you. Read more
With increasing frequency, I’m finding that I’m getting pitched more often to review sunscreen pills and drinks. I am a true skeptic when it comes to replacing what I know already works (topical sunscreen), and has worked for YEARS, with something so new that claims the same benefits. So I set out to find out the answers to the following questions about sunscreen pills:
Do sunscreen pills really work?
Do sunscreen pills offer the same protection as topical sunscreen?
If sunscreen pills work, how?
Are sunscreen pills meant to only be a supplement to topical sunscreen or to actually replace it?
Are there side effects to sunscreen pills?
Maybe you’ve had these same questions… Read more
I am very much a fan of leading a healthy lifestyle. I strongly believe that being active and eating a clean, well-balanced diet is the best way to prevent illnesses and look and feel your best and most energized.
For the most part, in addition to working out regularly, I try to avoid caffeine and sugars and instead consume foods that are naturally energizing whenever I am feeling run down and like I need an extra boost of energy.
Energize Greens Dietary Supplement is a natural supplement of nutritious green superfoods that I have been using for the past two weeks that not only boosts my energy level, but also improves my health, alkalizes my body and boosts my immune system. Read more
This is a product-provided, sponsored conversation that contains affiliate links. I received the Infiniti Pro by Conair 3Q Styling Tool and the True Glow by Conair Sonic Skincare Solution for my own personal use. All opinions, text and experiences are my own.
It’s not really a secret that I have a love affair with Conair hair products. Over the years I have really loved (and religiously used) styling tools from their Infiniti line, and the latest hair dryer, the Infiniti Pro by Conair® 3Q™ Styling Tool, is no different.
3Q™ stands for “Quick, Quiet and Quality,” all of the hallmarks of this new brushless motor styling tool. It may not fit into the Q theme, but this dryer is also extremely light weight. I didn’t feel like I was giving my biceps a workout while drying my hair. I absolutely adore how much quieter this dryer is – their patent pending noise reduction technology makes it up to 40% quieter (which is a huge plus when you have a large family like I do and don’t want to wake anyone early in the a.m. or when you can only squeeze in a shower at 10pm after a long day of work and want to keep your beauties sleeping.)
