Who can resist Paula’s Choice?
Sorry, I couldn’t help but make that joke, although I have to say that now that I’ve tried this skin care line, I’m pretty much hooked.
Prior to this review, I hadn’t tried any of Paula’s Choice skin care, although I am very much aware of Paula Begoun, the founder, as the Cosmetics Cop who is all about truth in beauty, skin care, ingredients and proven research. In fact, I had the chance to interview her when Beautypedia launched several years ago. Her website has a full encyclopedia of advice for every type of skin care concern. She is a wealth of information!
I am a true skin care junkie. I absolutely believe that it doesn’t matter how much contouring and concealing you do or how much makeup you wear – if your skin is a mess, there is no hiding that! Besides, the better you treat your skin, the less makeup you’ll have to invest in to fix your flaws. Read more
Blackheads. The bain of my existence.
I wish that when I was a teen that someone would’ve warned me about the future of my skin if I didn’t take care of it properly. But alas, here I am in my 40’s with large pores (especially on my nose) and blackheads as proof of my previous skin care sins.
With constantly clogged pores comes finding the right products that will neutralize them and keep my skin looking healthy.
5 of my blackhead banishing favorites right now include: Read more
This is a product-provided, sponsored conversation that contains affiliate links. I received the Infiniti Pro by Conair 3Q Styling Tool and the True Glow by Conair Sonic Skincare Solution for my own personal use. All opinions, text and experiences are my own.
It’s not really a secret that I have a love affair with Conair hair products. Over the years I have really loved (and religiously used) styling tools from their Infiniti line, and the latest hair dryer, the Infiniti Pro by Conair® 3Q™ Styling Tool, is no different.
3Q™ stands for “Quick, Quiet and Quality,” all of the hallmarks of this new brushless motor styling tool. It may not fit into the Q theme, but this dryer is also extremely light weight. I didn’t feel like I was giving my biceps a workout while drying my hair. I absolutely adore how much quieter this dryer is – their patent pending noise reduction technology makes it up to 40% quieter (which is a huge plus when you have a large family like I do and don’t want to wake anyone early in the a.m. or when you can only squeeze in a shower at 10pm after a long day of work and want to keep your beauties sleeping.) Sometimes getting to the spa for a deep cleansing facial isn’t always an option. Thankfully there are plenty of beauty tools out there that can help your skin look its best regardless of your budget. The Michael Todd Soniclear and many of their skin care products are perfect for at home skin care when you can’t make it to the spa. They now have some pretty cool designs with their Soniclear, adding a little pop to your vanity. (The one pictured above is called Pink Lady.) Read more
Teen skin issues are in full force in my house. Thankfully my sons have taken an interest in caring for their skin and always come to me with questions about how to clear up blemishes, moisturize and cleanse their skin, and for my oldest, asked my husband to show him how to shave. Whether you are a teenager or an adult battling blemishes, a spot treatment is a must-have to keep on hand.
GR8SKN from Teenceuticals is a new skin care line targeted to teens and those in their 20’s, and let’s face it, teen skin and adult skin do differ in how it combats and recovers from acne. (Not to mention male skin from female skin, but that’s a whole other article.) GR8SKN products are paraben-free, sulfate-free and cruelty free. Read more
Lately I have been somewhat obsessed with bananas. Being insanely busy for the past two months has reintroduced me to how versatile bananas can be. In the morning I blend them with almond milk, blueberries and medjool dates for a simple, quick and super filling smoothie or will slice them and add to my muesli or coconut milk yogurt. When I’m really rushed for time I have a banana with a few almonds for a filling, yet healthy snack. Little did I know that in addition to being filling and convenient, bananas also have amazing benefits for skin, hair and my overall health and well-being. Read more
When it comes to skin care, I am very picky with what I put on my face. Since there’s no hiding imperfections should a reaction to a product happen, I always do my research on ingredients and check out my fellow beauty blogger reviews. One of my favorites types of skin care product are facial masks. Maybe it’s just me, but I love the feeling of rejuvenating my skin.
Some of my favorite facial masks are:
Renee Rouleau Triple Berry Smoothing Peel: Hands down, this is my absolute favorite chemical exfoliant mask. By chemical, I mean smoothing fruit AHA’s, BHA’s and enzymes. It smells insanely delicious and leaves your skin with an amazing glow. Read more

If you are part of the sisterhood that is combination/oily skin, then you’ll want to learn more about Eumora, a facial bar made of moor and HmA. For as far back as I can remember, my skin has never been gifted as “normal” and transitions from combination in the Fall/Winter to oily in the Spring/Summer. This means I am forever trying out skin care products that will help keep my skin in check. Read more
I’ve always considered myself lucky when it comes to my skin. Sure I’ve had the occasional pimple or was inconvenienced by random dry skin or oily skin a times, but it was never out of control or got to the point where it was a stressor for me.
I wish I would have appreciated what I had at the time because for the past year I have been battling with constant acne…the kind that leaves scars, skin that goes from extremely dry to severely oily and a dull complexion. I have tried facials, soothing and calming face products, diet change, water filters…you name it, I’ve tried it and while some of these attempts at a solution would briefly work or would take care of one of my skin issues, it would exacerbate the rest. Not one of these “fixes” ever got my skin back to the state that it was in prior to this past year, so I’ve been learning to live with (but not accept) the new condition of my skin. This just means that I’m still trying different means of getting my skin under control. Read more
