One of the main things I love about walking into a spa is the calming scent that fills the air. It’s like instant relaxation before your spa treatment has even begun.
When I was younger, my sister used to burn incense sticks. It was all the rage back in the early 90’s. To be honest, I would make fun of her for it. All these years later, I didn’t realize that it was a form of aromatherapy… and now I love it, just in essential oil form.
I recently received the Gurunanda Ultrasonic Essential Oil Diffuser, and honestly, I’m so in love.

Aloe vera has long been known for its anti-inflammatory properties. Anyone who has had a sunburn knows that aloe vera is a must-have beauty staple.
I’ve begun to notice that lately aloe vera is in everything from beauty products to juices and supplements – I’ve even seen it frozen in ice cube trays, which makes complete sense since the benefits of aloe vera seem never-ending.
Some of the many advantages to incorporating aloe into your beauty routine are:
- When taken in a supplement or drink, it helps to support a healthy digestive system, a healthy immune system and normal muscle and joint functions
- It reduces toxins in the body, aids in digestion and has an alkalizing effect on the body
- It is high in amino and fatty acids as well as vitamins and minerals
- It’ss great for applying topically to burns, abrasions, psoriasis, bug bites and sunburnt skin
- Since aloe is has a high water content, it is a great way to hydrate, moisturize and rejuvenate skin
- Aloe increases skin elasticity by making it more flexible through collagen and elastin repair
- Aloe is also an emollient, helping to soften and soothe the skin
- It helps supply oxygen to the skin cells, increasing the strength and synthesis of skin tissue and induces improved blood flow to the skin
With all of these amazing benefits, it’s no wonder we’re finding it in more skin care products.

I’m one of those people who truly enjoys working out. I absolutely love how I feel after a workout and actually dread missing my gym time.
There are those times though, when life happens and my hectic schedule just does not allow for driving to the gym and putting in an hour plus long workout. During those times I still try my best to incorporate some form of fitness into my day, which is where the Zobi comes in very handy. Read more
National day(s) of complete diet obliteration …also known as “the holidays,” is almost upon us.

Disclosure: Thanks to LISTERINE® I’m practicing good oral care as part of a sponsored post for Socialstars #Listerine
Is your mouth on your side?
Poor oral health affects aspects of your life that you may not expect. While improper oral health practices deeply affect the health of your mouth, you may be surprised to learn that it also impacts your career opportunities, confidence and relationships with others.
Two people in my life immediately come to mind when it comes to how the state of their mouth affected their confidence – my son and my husband.
While my son Duncan has always conducted good oral care, he had bucked teeth for a while due to sucking on his hand (vs thumb sucking) since the time he was an infant. Eventually Duncan stopped smiling for pictures and soon enough, he felt that other kids didn’t like him because of his teeth. This led to a lot of self esteem issues. Once he was able to get braces, his smile returned and his social relationships have improved.
My husband admittedly never had a good oral care routine, which led him to have poor oral health issues like gingivitis, loss of some teeth and cavities. This, too, led him to have self confidence issues and he rarely opens his mouth when he smiles. Sometimes people have mistakenly taken this the wrong way and think that he’s in a bad mood or just doesn’t care. It’s amazing how people perceive things due to our smile. Although he has put a routine into place, he can’t reverse the damage already done and often reminds the kids just how important good oral care is from a young age. Read more
Before starting GuruNanda’s Pulling Oil, I had heard about the practice of oil pulling, but I had never done it myself nor had any close friends or family who had done it. Although, there is a ton of information on the ancient practice of oil pulling readily available at my fingertips, I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect (the taste, feeling, etc.)
Oil pulling is an ancient Ayurvedic procedure. It involves using oil as a mouthwash and swishing it in your mouth for about 15-20 minutes, then spitting it out. This action is meant to pull out toxins in your body and is very beneficial for your health, especially your oral health. Read more
Your aching back, your swollen cankles, your sore shoulders… if you are in your third trimester of pregnancy, I’m sure you can relate.
There’s so many things to look forward to with your impending arrival, but feeling like your body is falling apart is not one of them. As someone who absolutely loves her spa massages, pre-natal massage was something I was curious about since massage during pregnancy can have some unwanted side effects (especially if you are considered high risk, like myself.)
Before heading to your local spa to indulge in a pre-natal massage, make sure that the therapist is trained in pre-natal. There’s pressure points, etc. that are to be avoided during pregnancy because they can trigger contractions (some even say pre-term labor.) And there are certain essential oils you should stay away from. You should also get the all clear with your doctor/mid-wife first, as well. Read more
By now, we all know…or should know the health and beauty benefits of drinking water. Approximately 50 to 70% of our body mass is made up of water so it is important to replenish our bodies with the water that we lose on a daily basis.
Water is essential to our health because it removes toxins from our bodies thus cleanses it and is required to process all of the nutrients from the food we eat and carry the assimilated nutrients to the cells by circulating through the lymphatic system.
Drinking water also has a ton of beauty benefits. Drinking water prevents dehydration, which becomes most noticeable in your skin first. If you’ve ever gotten the flu and became dehydrated you may have noticed it first in your lips cracking and becoming dry and then on your face as well. Read more
I am very much a fan of leading a healthy lifestyle. I strongly believe that being active and eating a clean, well-balanced diet is the best way to prevent illnesses and look and feel your best and most energized.
For the most part, in addition to working out regularly, I try to avoid caffeine and sugars and instead consume foods that are naturally energizing whenever I am feeling run down and like I need an extra boost of energy.
Energize Greens Dietary Supplement is a natural supplement of nutritious green superfoods that I have been using for the past two weeks that not only boosts my energy level, but also improves my health, alkalizes my body and boosts my immune system. Read more
