Lead Hair Stylist for Sebastian Professional, Thomas Dunkin, was backstage at Costello Tagliapietra for their Spring Summer 2010 show yesterday at Milk Studios in Chelsea. I love the look he created with soft curls and I think across the board at many SS10 runway shows we’ll be seeing more “feminine & romantic” hair style looks for the upcoming season.
Costello Tagliapietra’s Spring ’10 beauty look is a seamless combination of elegance, youthfulness, natural beauty and romance. The hair, both feminine and fresh, is loosely inspired by the traditional roll style from the 40s with soft curls that sit just above the shoulder. To put a modern twist on a ‘40s staple, Thomas recommends a method of building texture and shape with techniques that keep the hair looking soft, romantic and not too “done.” Finish with an elastic touchable texturizer or flexible shine spray to create a look that’s elegant yet playful. Here’s how to create your own 40s inspired faux bob:
It is Fashion Week my beauties! And Aveda has passed on their first report from backstage at John Patrick Organic. One of my hair stylist friends (remember Pearson Knight?) is on the Aveda team and was backstage masterfully doing hair at this show. Although Lead Hair was Odile Gilbert and the Aveda Lead was Dennis Clendennen for this show. But I can still give kudos to my friend right? (Of course I can!)
The hair look for John Patrick Organic was a modern, playful take on Bohemian-chic. Hair was smooth and shiny on top with soft, free-flowing curls below the cheekbone and volume at the front—pulled back into a barrette, adding a girly touch.
Just a quick little update to make you aware of some other places you can find A Girl’s Gotta Spa! online.
Beauty Blog: Of course, the blog is where you can find reviews from myself and as you may have noticed, from some new beauty contributors as well. The very fabulous Nando heads up the men’s grooming video reviews, but will also be bringing you some great videos from New York Fashion Week (so stay tuned!) Zeke is our anonymous mystery blogger who also covers men’s grooming from time to time as well. Brittany, who happens to be my very adorable younger cousin, will be covering beauty reviews from a teen’s perspective. Then of course there is Morgan, a good friend with awesome photography skills who will also be doing beauty reviews on occasion. As always, my ultimate goal with the blog is to bring you relevant beauty reviews that you can relate to.
Twitter: If you haven’t already noticed, I am quite the chatter box! You can find me on Twitter tweeting about beauty products I am trying, talking with fellow beauty bloggers, beauty brands as well as celebrity makeup artists and hair stylists. It’s a great place for you to get to know me better, ask questions or hear about what I am working on.
You Tube: This is home to our video reviews and interviews. For right now, the videos hosted here are from Nando, but soon enough (ie. when I get up the guts) there will be videos from me, as well.
Facebook Fan Page: Hopefully if you are reading this beauty blog, you are a fan! So why not make it official by becoming a fan on Facebook too? Here I’ll post beauty discount codes, pictures of products that I may not necessarily review here on the blog, ask beauty questions, talk about seasonal makeup looks and show you some behind the scenes things going on here for the blog (such as the picture above of nail polish from Barielle.)Â It also gives you the opportunity to talk with other fans, too! (And I certainly love when you click that “Suggest to friends” link and share the page with your friends! *wink wink*)
I love connecting with you and hope to see you around the interwebs!
