When my fellow beauty blogger Nichelle at 55 Secret Street raved about Maybelline’s launch of their vibrating mascara, Pulse Perfection, I was excited. I know there are other vibrating mascara’s out there, but right now they are out of my price range. So during a recent trip to Walmart this past weekend, I found it in the beauty section a month before I expected to find it on shelves. I was ecstatic and scooped it right up. So did it work as promised?
Social media, which encompasses blogs, widgets, feeds, podcasts, social networks and digital media, is a global phenomenon happening in all markets regardless of wider economic, social and cultural development. There is no doubt that social media is changing the way businesses reach out to their target consumer and if you aren’t up to speed and learning how to effectively utilize it, then chances are that your competitors already have.
Twitter is one such social media platform that everyone is buzzing about. Twitter is a free micro-blogging service where you send out “tweets” in 140 characters or less. Everyone from celebrities to consumers to brands are “tweeting” not only about what’s on their minds, but about products and services they love. It’s become the hub for word of mouth, brand interaction and customer service.
On June 16th at 10am EST I am doing a webinar on “How to Effectively Utilize Twitter for your Spa Business” over at Spa Clique’s Spa iUniversity. In the webinar spa and salon owners will learn:
* Why use Twitter to promote your products and services.
* Who has been successful and why.
* Best practices for engaging followers.
* Why some brands fail on Twitter.
A little plug about me: Shannon Nelson has been a resource that many in the beauty industry turn to for consultation on their social media strategies. She has been a guest speaker at the HBA Expo, ICMAD’s tele-seminars and this July she will be speaking at two seminars for Cosmoprof North America.
Pueblo Bonito Emerald Bay Resort & Spa debuted their 16,500 square foot state-of-the-art spa back in April and it sure sounds amazing! Signature features including chromotherapy, aromatherapy and water reflexology paths distinguish the spa. The free-standing, full service spa reflects the theme of water and flows with soothing sounds of waterfalls and fountains. I don’t know about you, but I feel like I am in paradise when I look at this picture of the pool at the spa.
I began using Arcona skincare products to supplement my bi-weekly facials at International Orange Spa in San Francisco. Since then I’ve had a baby and was on hiatus from my trips to the spa. Am now back with my facials and still love my Arcona products.
My favorite must have product from Arcona are the Triad pads. These little beauties saved my skin during my first days as a new mom not to mention while traveling and on flights where I was in desperate need of a quick cleansing and moisturizing. The Arcona cranberry toner triad pads cleanse, tone and hydrate as well as infusing your skin with a healthy dose of antioxidants. I love the way my skin feels fresh and clean, but not too dry afterwards. I keep a jar in my desk, car glove compartment and my bathroom shelf is always fully stocked for quick cleansing when I am too exhausted for my nightly cleansing/toning/moisturizing ritual. Also in my desk drawer you’ll find a bottle of Arcona Mineral Magic, they’re a lifesaver when air conditioning wreaks havoc on my skin. It’s an anytime hydrating spritz that moisturizes, remineralizes, protects and firms skin. I don’t leave home without it.
