LATHER Go Coconuts Body Scrub and Body Whip Review

There is nothing I love more in the summer (or for a mid-winter wake up) than the scent of coconuts. The fragrance makes me nostalgic of my childhood spent on the beaches of Rhode Island--from Prudence Island to Narraganset and Portsmouth, the scent of coconut-scented sunscreen filled the air. Aveeno Protect + Hydrate Lotion Sunscreen Review

Life after Melanoma for me has been an interesting balance of educating myself and others about the dangers of the sun and skin cancer awareness ... and finding ways to enjoy my time in the sun without being totally paranoid. Part of that mission has included trying every sunscreen Read more

Mount Airy Casino and Spa Review

mount-airy-casino

One of the many reasons I love living in the Poconos, is that there are a variety of things to do. Since the area is a popular tourist attraction, especially now that the Jersey Shore is still being rebuilt, there’s not too much you CAN’T do in Northeast PA.

Back in 1998, Mount Airy Lodge was the location chosen for my honeymoon with my first marriage. Unfortunately it did not live up to expectations when it came to cleanliness, activities and overall impressiveness (and I’m sure my ex-husband would agree.) Soon the Lodge became an eyesore and an undesirable place until the DeNaples family were given a gaming license and completely demolished the old Mount Airy Lodge and crafted an amazing luxury experience that is now Mount Airy Casino Resort. The transformation is amazing. The resort is continuing to transform as it adds outdoor cabanas and a pool to their luxury spa.

I recently had the opportunity to stay for a weekend with my fiance. This is my review:  Read more

Clean Refreshed Summer Skin with Pangea Organics Facial Toner

pangea-organics-facial-tonerMemorial Day means that summer is pretty much upon us and one of the products that I like to incorporate in my summer beauty routine is a facial toner.  During the summer months my skin tends to get a lot more oily and spending a lot of times outdoors means my skin comes in contact with a lot more dirt than it does during the cooler months so I feel like for me a facial toner is essential during summer. I also like to have one stored in my refrigerator for whenever I need a refreshing spritz during the day especially on those unbearably hot summer days.

During this summer, my facial toner of choice will be Pangea Organics Facial Toner Italian Green Mandarin With Sweet LimePangea Organics has lately become one of my favorite eco-centric skincare lines with products that are nurturing, handcrafted and organic and never contain petroleum, sulfates or detergents, synthetic preservatives, artificial colors or fragrances or GMO’s.  The Pangea Organics Facial Toner Italian Mandarin With Sweet Lime is recommended for normal to combination skin, which I possess and in addition to cleaning, refreshing, hydrating and refining the skin it also soothes, which is great for me because in the summer my skin has a tendency to become really angry and freak out in the forms of blemishes and pimples. Summer Protection with MDSolarSciences Mineral Creme SPF 50

md-solar-sciences-mineral-creme-broad-spectrum-spf-50-uva-uvb-sunscreenNo summer beauty routine is complete without the incorporation of a great sunscreen.  Which for me means one with at least an SPF of 30, one that isn’t greasy feeling and oily looking and one that does not leave my skin looking chalky.  And I’ve found my perfect sunscreen for summer just in time for a Memorial Day weekend teeming with outdoor activities.

MD Solar Sciences Mineral Creme SPF 50 Broad Spectrum UVA-UVB Sunscreen is the perfect combination of natural, lightweight, matte with an SPF of 50 and is pretty much invisible on skin with the exception of a really pretty glow.  The Mineral Creme rubs in quickly and easily and best of all I can’t even feel it on my skin…even after reapplying it my skin never felt greasy or clogged.

This is absolutely the best sunscreen for my face.  In the summer my skin is more prone to breakouts than at any other time of the year and MD Solar Sciences Mineral Creme SPF is specifically formulated for acne prone skin.  Besides feeling and looking amazing on my skin, this sunscreen also contains antioxidants, naturally derived Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide and does not contain parabens, allergens, gluten, fragrance or irritants.   Aesthetically, I just love the packaging of this sunscreen with its pink tube with the lime green cap; it just screams summer.  For me this sunscreen had absolutely no cons and I am elated that I found the perfect sunscreen to use all year round! (Shannon also did a review of their Mineral Lotion SPF 50.) Read more

Golden Summer Skin L’Occitane En Provence Pivoine Flora Shimmering Oil

l'occitane-picoiner-flora-shimmering-oilMemorial Day weekend is upon us which also means that short shorts season, otherwise known as summer to some, is upon us and that means  glowing, radiant skin is a must.  Especially if like me, you basically live in shorts all summer long and will find a way to wear them to every possible occasion.  This year during shorts season I plan on guaranteeing that my skin always looks absolutely glowing with L’Occitane En Provence Pivoine Flora Shimmering Oil.

This beautifully scented shimmering oil adds an insanely gorgeous, but subtle sheen to hair and skin.  I am sometimes hesitant to use any kind of oil on my skin or my hair during summer for fear of looking like a hot greasy mess, but this oil is really lightweight with a soft and pretty floral fragrance.  After applying this I don’t feel like I need to use any other fragrance. I love the way my arms, legs and back glow after applying the oil.  I’ve also used it on my eyelids and cheekbones as a highlighter and the effect is naturally gorgeous.  The oil adds a pretty great shine to my hair without making it look or feel greasy.  I definitely plan on embracing short shorts, tank tops, bikinis and any and everything backless season with my trusty bottle of Pivoine Flora Shimmering Oil in hand! First Step To Getting Summer Ready Gigi and clean+ easy Wax Kit

366Memorial Day Weekend is officially upon us, which means that the kickoff to summer has officially begun.  For me this has meant a frantic dash to get myself ready for bikinis, sun, short shorts, sandals and the heat and humidity that comes with summer.  My first step towards getting myself “summerified” was to make sure that I was as fuzz free as possible…which meant a good old fashioned all out do-it-myself waxing session.

Since I had an insane travel schedule and no time to go to a salon, I decided to undertake waxing on my own. I wanted to make sure I was fully prepared and that I did it the correct way, so I employed an arsenal of at home waxing products from clean+easy and Gigi.  The products from Gigiincluded: an Anesthetic Numbing Spray that is used before waxing to take the sting out, a Bikini Soothing Cream, used after waxing to soothe and moisturize the skin, Slow Grow with Argan Oil to minimize the appearance of new hair growth and No Bump Roll-On to eliminate ingrown hairs, bumps and razor burns.  The clean+easy products included; an Almond Coconut Wax, a Petite Wax Warmer, Wax Strips in small, medium and large for every part of the body, Spatulas, Remove After Wax Remover and Restore Dermal Therapy Lotion to soothe, condition and protect the skin post waxing.  I was not kidding when I said and arsenal of products!  Read more
