I traveled to Atlantic City to check out the amazing spa options as part of a sponsored post for Socialstars by Crowdtap #DoAC. All opinions, and fun, are my own.
When you think Atlantic City, casinos and gambling may be the first things that come to mind; but what about waterviews, the boardwalk, the beach, amazing restaurants, world class entertainment and my absolute favorite: the spas? Atlantic City is more than just a town to gamble in, and it’s certainly a lot more safer than you think!
For my trip to Atlantic City, I stayed at the Borgata Casino & Spa. Don’t mistake the Borgata to simply be a hotel and casino, as it is so much more. Honestly, it’s like its own city. It is massive with upscale shops, outrageously delicious restaurants, cafes for a quick treat (Frappacino’s at Starbucks and amazing display to delight your tastebuds at Sweets & Eats), an entertainment venue, two spas (Immersion Spa and Spa Toccare), nightclubs and The Water Club. You really have no reason to leave the Borgata with so much to do, BUT you should as Atlantic City has so much to offer. Their tagline, after all is, Do AC!
On a sidenote, I spent a good deal of money at Sweets & Eats in the Borgata. I mean look at these delectable treats! Read more
Nothing says complete and utter relaxation to me quite like indulging in a massage, especially a 75 minute long massage, followed by total body exfoliation, body mask and a luxuriating soak in a warm flower-filled bath. This is how I spent two hours at a spa in Bali thanks to the suggestion of a woman I was lucky enough to share a taxi ride with. As soon as I got out of the taxi I knew where I was headed to next: Bodyworks spa in Seminyak, Bali. Read more
Cruelty Free Consumer takes the guesswork out of finding great beauty, baby, pet and lifestyle brands that are truly cruelty free.
I love Leaping Bunny’s approach to sorting out which brands are certified cruelty free, because you can certainly say you are, but until you are certified…it’s simply just a marketing point on your product page. As a Leaping Bunny certified bath and body brand, A Girl’s Gotta Spa! is able to partner with other like-minded retailers, like Cruelty Free Consumer, who take the guesswork out of asking yourself, “Is this brand cruelty free?” Read more
Sadly, Gloss48 has shut down.
“Unlike the vast empire of beauty products owned by major corporations, Gloss48 is a different type of retailer – helping beauty lovers uncover every hidden gem.”
As a beauty blogger I know that finding that needle in haystack, one-of-a-kind, beauty product that you can’t believe you lived this long without is important to any beauty afficianado. Finding that gem becomes the secret you don’t want to keep! Since launching my own natural bath and body line, it has been my desire to seek out niche retailers and spas to carry my line. I’m thrilled to announce that on June 6, 2014, A Girl’s Gotta Spa! will officially launch on Gloss48.com. Read more
Something I’ve learned in my 8+ years of beauty blogging, is that many brands like to say they are something without any proof to back it. Brands say they are natural, but the ingredient label tells a different story. Brands say they are organic because they assume you won’t know that sometimes natural doesn’t necessarily also mean organic. Brands also say they are cruelty free knowing that there may not really be a way for you to know one way or another.
When I launched the A Girl’s Gotta Spa! bath and body line, I wanted to make sure you knew who we were and not have to guess. Read more
The concept of A Girl’s Gotta Spa! began simple enough 9 years ago this October.
I was 31 years old at the time. I moved from the suburbs of the Philadelphia area to the rural surroundings of the Pocono mountains just two years prior. I had 3 boys already and soon enough would be having a 4th. The idea of taking time for myself was not a foreign concept, although one that seems to have some duplicity in the notion of it. On the one hand you have people telling you that you need some me time, “Take some time for yourself,” they’d say, “You deserve it.” Then, on the other hand, you have people tsking you and accusing you of being selfish for doing so.
I believe you deserve to be pampered. Read more
Being part Italian, olive oil was always a staple growing up in my childhood home. As a child, I never knew the health benefits my parents and grandparents were passing on to me, all I knew is that it added delicious flavor to my food. Once I began to work in beauty, I was mesmerized by all of its benefits to skin, as well.
Olive fruit oil is high in Vitamin E, which we all know is fantastic for its anti-aging properties. It’s high in oleic acid and is a good skin cell regenerator. It works to attract external moisture to the skin, while still permitting the skin to properly release sweat, shed dead skin and release sebum. Read more
I first became acquainted with hot yoga 2-3 years ago, but did not begin a regular practice until last Spring. I have been absolutely hooked ever since.
I’ve noticed that practicing hot yoga regularly has made me less stressed, increased my strength and flexibility, more toned, more energized and quite a few of my family members swear that I look taller. Did I also mention that my skin is usually supple and glowing after practicing? (Must be from sweating out those toxins!)
I know that hot yoga might not be to everyone’s liking, but I absolutely love it and am grateful for the positive impact it has had on me.
If you have been considering giving hot yoga a try this year, here are a few benefits that may propel you into your nearest hot yoga studio ASAP! Read more
If you read yesterday’s post celebrating A Girl’s Gotta Spa! 8 year blogiversary, you may have noticed that I mentioned launching a natural bath and body line. I am SO excited about this!
While we have some money saved to cover some of the costs, we still need help to get off the ground.
Yesterday afternoon we launched our Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign to try to get us there and I’m hoping you’ll be part of that vision!
Let me tell you a little about this amazing (I’m biased!) line of bath and body products: Read more
I shuffled a few pieces of loose leaf papers together on my desk and stapled them. I opened to the first page, put pen to paper and began to write out my short story, along with illustrations (my “books” always had illustrations.) The first page would always say, “Written by Shannon Crino” in perfect cursive penmanship. Then, dressed in my neatly pressed green plaid St. James school uniform, I would bring it to the front of the class and place it next to the other books my fifth grade teacher had organized for our daily reading time. I’d then sit and eagerly await my classmates to take one of my books and read them. I’d patiently watch their expressions as they would finger through the pages, and when they’d look up, their eyes meeting mine, they’d smile.
That sealed the deal for me when it came to writing. I knew I wanted to be putting words on pages that meant something to someone. A way I could resonate with them. For the rest of my life. Read more
