My Top Five Beauty Products From Whole Foods

The only department in Whole Foods that I normally skip is the beauty department. It's true. I guess I've always just felt that the Whole Foods beauty department contained products that would be of little or no interest to me due to them smelling weird or my assumption that they were ineffective. Well we Read more

Susan Posnick COLORFLO Loose Mineral Foundation and Kabuki Brush

Note To Self: Dream Big

A Girl's Gotta Spa! 8th blogiversary!

I shuffled a few pieces of loose leaf papers together on my desk and stapled them. I opened to the first page, put pen to paper and began to write out my short story, along with illustrations (my “books” always had illustrations.) The first page would always say, “Written by Shannon Crino” in perfect cursive penmanship. Then, dressed in my neatly pressed green plaid St. James school uniform, I would bring it to the front of the class and place it next to the other books my fifth grade teacher had organized for our daily reading time. I’d then sit and eagerly await my classmates to take one of my books and read them. I’d patiently watch their expressions as they would finger through the pages, and when they’d look up, their eyes meeting mine, they’d smile.

That sealed the deal for me when it came to writing. I knew I wanted to be putting words on pages that meant something to someone. A way I could resonate with them. For the rest of my life. Read more

C.Booth Original Bath and Body Oil Review

C.Booth Original Bath & Body Oil #reviewWith cooler weather fast approaching, one of my beloved beauty rituals that I cannot wait to get back to is bath time.  I tend to avoid taking baths in spring and summer because with the warmer weather the last thing I want to do is lay in a tub of hot water.  As soon as fall begins to roll around, I start getting excited about all things bath related.

The bath product usually on the top of my list of must-have bath products is a great smelling, skin softening bath oil.  That sounds easy enough to find, but I also happen to have a boyfriend who also gets excited about bath time so I like to have bath products that are not too flowery and heavily scented that we can both use…a reasonable bath oil doesn’t hurt either. Koh Gen Do Fresh Face Cheek Color

Ever since an amazing makeup artist in Minneapolis used Koh Gen Do Cosmetics on me for a shoot, I have been obsessed.  The Moisture Foundation and Face Powder both felt really light, gentle and incredibly luxurious on my skin and my face looked uber flawless and amazing. A few weeks ago I noticed that Koh Gen Do was on Hautelook so I figured it was the perfect time for me to try the Fresh Face cheek color.

The Fresh Face cheek color has the most perfect packaging.  It is just absolutely gorgeous, yet simple and sophisticated.  The Fresh Face cheek color itself  is just heavenly! It just glided on my skin like a dream.  It felt silky, soft, smooth and positively splendid.  It left my cheeks with color that truly looked like it was radiating from within, just as if I were actually blushing or had just come back in from being out in the cold.  In addition to gorgeous color, the Fresh Face cheek color also gave my skin the most lovely glow. Meow Meow Tweet Reviews

Meow Meow Tweet Reviews

Whenever I see the words all natural, mostly organic, and use of biodegradable and recyclable packaging applied to beauty products, it becomes pretty much impossible for me to resist trying said products.  My latest beauty temptation was products from Meow Meow Tweet, a line of all natural, organic, vegan products created in Brooklyn, NY by couple Tara and Jeff. MoroccanOil Hydrating Styling Cream Review

MoroccanOil Hydrating Styling Cream #review

After my boyfriend somehow lost my beloved blowout lotion and I was forced to use my regular body lotion to blow dry my hair for a few days, thanks to me not being able to locate a salon, beauty store or dry bar in my area that carries the brand I normally use, he went out (all on his own) and bought me the MoroccanOil Hydrating Styling Cream.  I guess he felt really bad because every time I blow dried my hair, I would rave about how much I loved the blowout lotion I was using.

To be honest I was not at all excited about trying the MoroccanOil Hydrating Styling Cream, but since it was sweet that he took the time to go out and get it, I thought I would give it a try and I’m pretty ecstatic that I decided to stop pouting and try it. Read more

WEI To Go Real Clean Gelled Oil Cleanser Review

WEI -To -Go- Real- Clean- Gelled -Oil -CleanserWhenever I’m traveling, one thing I can count on without fail is the appearance of breakouts.  My skin tends to get clogged and congested on the plane and by the time I land I can feel the bumps start to emerge.  In an effort to be preventative I’ve started to use facial wipes on the plane, but a lot of times these are drying on my face and exacerbates the problem.

I finally came to the conclusion that I needed a cleanser that was both gentle and moisturizing on my skin while still being capable to remove dirt, makeup and any other skin congestant found on a plane.  On my last flight I cleansed my face with WEI To Go Real Clean Gelled Oil Cleanser.  The cleanser comes in extremely airplane friendly 10ml tubes, is super easy to use and has a very refreshing lemony scent.  Read more

Tocca Cleopatra Hand Cream Review

tocca-cleopatra-hand-creamHand cream is one of my handbag staples no matter what season or zip code I happen to find myself in.

I am a stickler about washing my hands religiously, which although great for killing germs, can leave my hands resembling those of the Crypt Keeper, so a really moisturizing hand cream is a necessity for me.  If you were to peek into my handbag at present, you would find my cannot-live-without-it hand cream by Tocca.  I have been in love with Tocca beauty products for a long time and my favorite fragrance just happens to be Tocca’s Cleopatra Perfume…honestly I have both the roller-ball and solid perfume in my handbag at all times. Hydrated Summer Lips with Nivea Lip Butter

Nivea Lip Butter Review

Once summer arrives, I need everything to feel and be light, simple and effortless.  From my clothing, to food to my beauty products, everything needs to have that summery carefree essence to it.  Do you agree?

Which is why a few of my beauty products from winter, fall and even spring just do not make the cut for summer.  During the cooler months I don’t mind feeling like there is a layer of protection between my skin and the dry, damaging chill of fall and winter. However, in the summer while I still need the protection, I really do not want to feel the products on my skin. I’ve had to retire a few of my lip products for the time being, especially my heavier lip balms and opt for lighter feeling, but still hydrating lip products. Read more
