EnvyDerm Lip Volumizing and Conditioning Plumper

As I get older I notice the collagen making a prompt exit from my lips leaving them looking lifeless and thin. The best way to combat thinning lips (or if you have thin lips to begin with) is to keep them hydrated and to use a lip plumper. When Read more

No3 Berry Face Oil Review

Can I use face oil if I have combination skin? Of course you can, simply avoid pore-clogging oils and use only the ones intended to moisturize your face. L.A. Christine's No3 Berry Face Oil is comprised of Lingonberry, raspberry and acai berry, yet smells of an herbally sweet concoction. High Read more

Verb Detangle+Defrizz Conditioning Leave-In Mist Review

To be completely up front about things, I hate washing my hair because it's a nightmare to comb afterwards.  It’s much like that of a 6 year old little girl. It tangles like nobody’s business and is a nightmare to comb after washing. It’s so bad that my hairdresser Read more

Avon Viva by Fergie Perfume Review

Avon launched it’s the third fragrance by the famous pop star Fergie, named Viva by Fergie last spring.  The new fragrance is advertised as fearless and daring with the slogan “Live by Your Own Rules.”

“Viva is a fresh and unexpected fragrance that brings out the duality of a woman. Powerful, yet seductive, and living life by her own rules,” described Fergie.

The composition is fresh and floral, blended out of cooling herbs, fierce lavender and intriguing vetiver. The green opening is fresh and crisp without any fruity or citrus accords. Most fragrances use citrus to get that briskness but Viva relies on green herbals to bring it.  Read more

Violet Eyeshadow Trend with AVON: Femme Fatale and Purple Haze

I am all over the violet eye shadow trend this Fall. Varying purple hues have been a preference since I began wearing makeup at age 13. (If you’re keeping track, that was a LONG time ago.)

I didn’t really know how to wear makeup back then (and often looked like I got punched in the eye.) Thankfully, brands like AVON are still putting the “eyeshadow by numbers” directions on the back of their quads.  Do I still have to use it? You betcha!

On the left is Femme Fatale, AVON’s newest seasonal eyeshadow quad, and on the right is Purple Haze. Each eyeshadow has a bit of a shimmer while in the quad itself, however, I found that once applied to your eyes, it is more of a matte look (which I totally prefer.)  Read more

Avon Representative Jill Saylor’s 5 Tips for Staying Beautiful Inside and Out

Typically, we don’t really talk about direct sales companies on A Girl’s Gotta Spa! However, I couldn’t help but be proud of a local Northeast PA woman who was recently spotlight on TV in an Avon commercial. So I asked Jill Saylor to send along her tips for staying beautiful both inside and out.

1. Stay Clear of Negative People. Misery really loves company and there will always be people who don’t understand the choices you make. Hold strong to your positive nature and what you really want. When I first started selling Avon, I wasn’t making a lot of money and I had friends who would discourage me, but in the end I kept pushing myself and now I’m extremely happy with how I’ve grown my Avon business. I have been able to financially support my children on my own doing everything from moving them to a bigger home to helping them buy their first cars. It just goes to show that if you keep going with your gut feeling and stay true to how you feel, things will work out.

2. Push through your fears. I used to be afraid of everything. I wasn’t able to get over my own fears until I made a choice to start with the small ones and take them on one at a time. Most importantly, I watched myself as I overcame them thinking how easy it was! Think about the worst case scenario. If you can push past that, you can start to question why you were afraid in the first place. As time goes on you continue to get stronger and before you know it, you are conquering your bigger fears.   Read more
