Probiotic Skin Care: Miracle Ingredient or Marketing Hype?

As a consumer, my hope is that when a product comes to market, it delivers information that is true. I mean, we're all so busy, who has the time to fact check everything? For a while, we all believed the mascara commercials and ads where the spokesperson/model had the most Read more

Little did I know when growing up on the beaches of Rhode Island, that the wavy hair that came naturally among the sand and surf, would be a hairstyle I would try so hard to achieve as an adult. While my hair does have a slight natural wave to it, Read more

Dove Deep Moisture Body Wash Review

There’s nothing worse than dry skin in the winter. Flakes everywhere, itchiness, skin snagging your sheets…

While I’ve said repeatedly that hot showers in the winter contribute to dry skin (and they do), I’ve been guilty of a few hot showers on occasion. Sometimes there is nothing better when you are sick, need to relax or just plain need to warm up. To combat these skin care don’ts that we tend to do, an effective moisturizing body wash is called for.

As you may know, sometimes the body washes that lather the most also tend to strip the skin of moisture. Dove Deep Moisture Body Wash lathers enough while utilizing gentle cleansers so that skin remains soft and moisturized. They also have their NutriumMoisture and by reading the label I see moisturizing ingredients like glycerin, soybean and sunflower seed oil.  Read more

DIY Coffee Grounds Body Scrub

My sister is, and always has been, my beauty mentor.  Whenever I’ve had  a beauty ailment (which is a weekly occurrence,) I’ve always been able to count on her to steer me in the right direction.  Whether it be over plucked brows, breakouts or a lackluster complexion, she always seems to have a remedy in hand.  Her latest beauty advice for me was a body scrub using coffee grounds.

This DIY body scrub was honestly one of the easiest and most enjoyable beauty adventures I’ve been on in a long time.  I got to enjoy a delicious cup cup of coffee then indulge in an amazingly effective…and cheap at home spa treatment.  I just took the leftover grounds into the shower with me and rubbed it all over my body.  The coffee grounds make a really gentle scrub, but also does a great job of exfoliating.  Caffeine is also known to be a fantastic anti-cellulite treatment. The strong smell of coffee in the shower also gave me an energy boost.  Read more

Sneak Peek: Bodycology After Dark Collection

Are you a Twilight fan or have you been watching the TV show Once Upon A Time?

Then  Bodycology’s newest scent After Dark is for you! It was inspired by the Twilight saga and all those dark classic fairy tales with a modern twist.  You know, the beautiful maiden with the dark heart? Or the beautiful maiden with a curse?

The After Dark fragrance opens up with the scent of vanilla and berries and then softens and darkens to a muskier fragrance with a touch of sweetness. The scent definitely deepens to something less gourmand and more complicated the longer you wear it adding some complexity to it.  Read more

Tone Body Wash Reviews

Cooler temperatures and fewer hours of sunlight can only mean one thing: your shower will become your new best friend. When it comes to skin care, of course.

Our skin gets drier in the winter months and being cooped up with less time outdoors usually means the winter blues. But you have a secret weapon–your shower and your body wash! Having a chance to review all 6 of Tone’s body washes reminded me how skin hydrating shower gels along with invigorating fragrances can not only nourish your skin, but your mind as well.  Read more

Calgon Ageless Bath: Milk Bath with Serum Review

One thing I dearly love about winter is taking hot baths. I love to crawl into the nice hot, soothing bath water with my plastic mug of Vanilla Coke and listen to music or read a  good book.  What can I say? I’m a multi-tasker.

I recently got the chance to try Calgon’s Ageless Milk Bath with Serum Beads, from Calgon’s Ageless Bath Collection. The Ageless Bath Collection, which consists of the Milk Bath and Bath Pearls, is created with ‘Vita-Pearls’; a blend of Vitamin E, pearl powder and collagen which is supposed to“provide antioxidant protection, luminosity and dryness relief.” I was surprised and delighted by this product. It provides the ultimate bathing experience with a creamy luxurious formula that will leave skin moisturized and so soft to the touch.  Read more
