Review: Silky Cosmetics Body Creme & Whipped Sugar Body Polish

silky_cosmetics_sugar_scrubIf I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times…I love love love discovering indie beauty brands. Especially when their products are amazing! Do you agree? So when I was contacted by the owner of Silky Cosmetics prior to their launch, I was excited to give their bath and body products a spin. And while I said, yes please, my skin said: Thank you!

Whipped Sugar Body Polish:  Welcome to heaven…or rather– Bliss. This mixture of coconut oil, shea butter, soy bean oil and sugar delights your spirit with the fragrance of papaya and florals. It’s juicy and sweet with the light scent of freshly bloomed flowers.  The consistency is actually dreamy creamy and mousse-like. The sugar gently exfoliates your skin and the oils soften it without leaving behind a greasy residue.  Read more

It’s Time to Exfoliate and Get Polished for Spring

Yes, the days are longer and I am hoping that the sun is shining in your part of the country. It’s time to pack away heavy winter pants and tights and bare legs with swingy skirts for spring! I don’t know about you, but my legs are in need of some tender loving care. Now is the time to get in the habit (if you aren’t already) for a weekly exfoliation on your arms and legs. Wash away dead dry skin and reveal a smoother softer texture. I’ve already started wearing skirts here in California, and am sooo excited. With all of the pretty spring floral dresses and strappy sandals I’ll definitely need my legs to look their best. I’ve already unpacked and can’t wait to wear my new Christian Louboutin esapdrilles I bought on sale last fall.  Read more

Boots Botantics Luxurious Bath Elixir

This has been a particularly grey and rainy winter in San Francisco, so I’ve been enjoying more than average soaks in the tub. One of the most luxurious features of our cozy Victorian home is the pedestal soaking tub. It is the perfect length and depth for renewing, relaxing and melting the chills of winter away. To supplement these bath soaks I am always on the look out for a lovely smelling ultra bubbly bath foam. I recently picked up a bottle of Boots Botantics Luxurious Bath Elixir ($9.99 at Drugstore.com). I am a fan of Boots Chemist from my days in London, and was thrilled to find their products stateside as well at Target and Drugstore.com. Boots is known for their reasonably priced beauty and grooming products and is the #1 beauty and skincare brand in the UK.  Read more

A Girl’s Gotta Spa! Beauty Blog in Woman’s World Magazine

It never gets old seeing your name in a magazine. I did cartwheels this morning when I got the sneak peek of the page myself and fellow friends (and beauty bloggers) are mentioned on regarding Best Bubble Baths. This issue of Woman’s World comes out on Monday February 15th. Why not pick up a copy and say, “Hey! I know that girl!”

Also mentioned in the article are Carla from Product Girl, Jen from Raging Rouge and Andrea from Organic Beauty Expert. I feel blessed to be in such great company!

Review: Four Truffles Body Butter and Body Smoother

four_truffles_body_smootherHey everyone, Brittany here. Shannon asked me to begin doing some of my beauty product reviews by video, so here is my inaugural video for A Girl’s Gotta Spa! I kind of got carried away saying “it smells awesome” a lot in this video, but you’ll forgive me, right?

This bath & body review is for Four Truffles. They sent over their Tangerine Lavender Body Butter in their signature keepsake handmade truffle jar and Earth Apple Body Smoother sugar scrub. The Tangerine Lavender scent was pure heaven! Interestingly, the Earth Apple scent smelled like a fruity coconut fragrance to me–but I still loved it!

Check out my video and leave a comment to let me know what you think!  Read more

Review: Ola Hawaiian Bath and Body Products

ola_hawaiian

When first trying the Ola Hawaiian lotions and salt scrubs, I was quite skeptical as to the ingredients and if they would be too greasy for my skin. Still being a teenager, I end up getting the really flaky dry skin, yet oily at the same time (why me!?) But when I tried a sample of the Sandalwood Verbena lotion on my hands, they felt wonderful. The smell was just as intriguing as the texture of this lotion; rich, creamy, and non-greasy, this product is perfect for my dry skin. Read more
