Lighten Dark Spots with Dermalogica PowerBright Trx Trio

I'm paying for the skin sins of my youth in hyperpigmentation and an abundance of dark spots from both acne and lack of sunscreen usage. Over the years I've learned how to best conceal them with makeup in order to fake a great complexion. However, when the makeup comes Read more

Subtle Green Customizable Skin Care

Subtle Green, a Montreal-based luxury skin care company, recently caught my attention. Much of what they stand for is something I have been saying for years - "The best moisturizers do not have to contain 'miracle ingredients' developed using 'breakthrough technologies' in a remote secret laboratory." There are tried Read more

Best Ways to Spa at Home

I’d be lying if I said I could afford to go to the spa every few weeks. I simply can’t. Not with 4 boys who keep me super busy and a budget that doesn’t account for splurging. But I absolutely feel that spa time is super important if not only for your skin, but your mental and emotional well-being as well.

If you are anything like me and your finances and time don’t always agree with a trip to the spa, here are some simple ways to pamper yourself at home:

Light your favorite candles. There is nothing I love more than a house that smells so deliciously fragrant. Don’t use the ones that you light frequently, instead use candles that you set aside just for your spa time. My favorite candles are from NEST Fragrances. They are so unique (like Wasabi Pear and Moss & Mint) and smell luxurious. Turn off the lights and set them around your bathroom to make it even more relaxing.  Read more

NEST Fragrances Review

nest-fragrances-grapefruit

There is nothing I love more than a candle that can fill the entire room with its scent without overwhelming your senses and the perfectly portioned body wash and body cream whose fragrance lingers long after your shower. If you have yet to own anything from the NEST Fragrances line, then you are simply missing out on the aforementioned.  Read more

Limited Edition Softsoap Scentsations Body Wash

Here in the Pacific Northwest, we LOVE our coffee. Seattle may be where Starbucks originated, but there are a plethora of independent drive-in coffee stands–like one in every gas station parking lot and corner. With warmer temperatures though, I prefer something more refreshing. My summer drink is strawberry lemonade.

Lemonade Berry Splash_hi res

Lemonade Berry Splash is one of two limited-edition Softsoap Scentsations Moisturizing Body Washes you can find at Walmart this month, and only for a limited time. This is so refreshing and energizing in the shower! The zesty citrus scent bursts though and combines with the berry aroma for a remarkably authentic scent. The fragrance actually mixes orange, grapefruit and spring freesia for an uplifting and thirst quenching smell. The formula is infused with moisture beads that break apart leaving behind light moisturizers on the skin for added softness.  Read more

Bare Foot Repair! Review

We all know the dry winter weather dries out our skin, but let’s not forget those little 10 little piggies! I hate to admit it but my feet are a dry callused mess in the winter time.  There are two must-have products for those crime scene paws–Bare Foot Repair! for Callus Softening and Bare Foot Repair! for Cracked Heels. After using these two products, your footsies will be sexy sandal worthy.

Freeman Beauty Foot Repair! for Callus Softening ($6.99) – this callus softening cream exfoliates rough, dry skin without harsh abrasives while paraffin helps to soften skin leaving it feeling smooth.  I used to use a PediEgg but honestly, too often I would get carried away and end up with sore, slightly bloody feet. The texture of this is thick and paste-like, just spread on a thin layer to clean, dry feet and wait about 10 minutes for it to dry. Then gently rub and all the dry dead skin comes sloughing off–even the super dry skin! The peppermint has a cooling effect and smells good too. I was amazed at how well this did at exfoliating and it left my feet very soft and smooth.  Read more

Beautisol Hammam Deep Exfoliating Mitt Review

Since A Girl’s Gotta Spa! is all about the spa experience and soft beautiful skin, I’d like to introduce you to the Beautisol Hamman Deep Exfoliating Mitt ($12). A gentle massage with this mitt removes surface layers of dead skin revealing a smoother and softer appearance. No need to put up with dull, lackluster skin when there is beauty beneath.

What I like about this mitt is that you can choose to do a deep exfoliation or a light one. Since I exfoliate every other day, I like to do the light technique. Wet the mitt and massage the skin without gel or soap, then use a washcloth with gel or soap.  Read more

Spa Sonic ® Face and Body Polisher Review

Meet my brand new best-friend and constant travelling companion, Spa Sonic’s Face and Body Polisher.

I took an immediate liking to this device and absolutely refuse to leave home for more than a day without it, after all what’s not to love since it beautifies from head to toe?  The seven piece professional kit includes, 1 Polishing unit, 2 Facial Brushes, 1 Body Brush, 1 Facial Buffer, 1 Pumice Stone, and a battery four pack and they all do an awesome job.

The facial brush feels really gentle on my skin and I especially love the size of the brush because it cleanses and exfoliates my face without getting any excess of cleanser and water on my hair.  The body brush is also amazing.  Like the facial brush, it’s not harsh or irritating, but really gentle and also exfoliates and cleanses perfectly.  Read more

Tocca Esfoliante da Corpo in Stella

I love an exfoliating scrub that smells heavenly. Tocca’s Esfoliante da Corpo ($32), or Nourishing Body Scrub, in Stella smells amazing.

Rich in natural oils, the luxurious formula boasts the emollient and healing properties of olive oil, safflower oil and grapeseed oil that leave the skin feelings soft, supple and delicately scented. It’s a sugar scrub, so it gently exfoliates. When you rinse it away, it leaves behind a very light oil on your skin, however it doesn’t feel greasy.  Read more

Mama Mio O-Mega Body Oil Review

So long lizard legs! It’s not often that I actually gush over a product, but I’m going to gush for O-Mega Body Oil. Before I get into why it’s so great, let me give you the background on the skincare brand Mama Mio, a line for women by women.

Founded in London by 4 beauty experts, Mama Mio is a very personal creation. Daisies & Dukes Bubbly Sugar Scrub And Body Butter

So far this year, I’ve been lucky enough to sample some truly amazing beauty products and I’ve been pretty excited about the majority of them. But this week I got the opportunity to try two new products from a new line of bath and body products that I am absolutely beserk about!  The line is called Daisies & Dukes and as their name may suggest, their products are inspired by the fresh air and natural beauty of America’s countryside.

I used the amazing Bubbly Sugar Scrub and Body Butter and did not want to get out of the bathroom.  Honestly, normally I have a tendency to speed shower and speed moisturize, but both of these products made me want to just hang around and dawdle in my bathroom for a spell.  The Hayfield Romance Bubbly Sugar Scrub has a fresh and clean yet feminine and romantic scent.  When I applied it in the shower it felt like I was applying frosting to my body, which I quite enjoyed.  The scrub both cleansed and exfoliated my skin gently, but thoroughly.  I loved that it transformed from a sugary scrub into a bubbly cleanser!  Read more
