Osmia Organics Milky Rose Soap

When it comes to cleansing my body, I never did like using a bar of soap, I have always preferred body washes, gels or shower oils. I have rarely found a soap that I enjoy using. They tend to leave a filmy residue that leaves my skin dry and Read more

Dial Skin Therapy 7-Day Moisturizing Lotion Review

dial-skin-therapy-7-day-moisturizerThis never ending winter has kept my wood burning stove going constantly. Thus, any moisture in the air is completely zapped. My feet are the driest they have ever been (despite a few pedicures this winter), and my skin just can’t seem to absorb enough lotion to be completely quenched. Have you noticed the same?

Sometimes it is partially my fault too. There are times when I’m in a rush and I forget (or don’t have time) to put on lotion, which of course only makes my skin even more dehydrated. When I was sent Dial’s new Skin Therapy 7-Day Moisturizing Lotion with Himalayan Pink Salt, I swooned at the thought of a lotion working for me even on the days when I forget to apply it.

What is Himalayan Pink Salt? If you are wondering, so was I, as I had never really heard of it before. Himalayan Pink Salt has a rich mineral content that includes over 84 minerals and trace elements such as: calcium, magnesium, potassium, copper and iron. This salt is recognized for its beautiful pink color, high mineral content, and its therapeutic properties. (source) While the lotion is not pink, I can understand why Dial is drawing our attention to this beauty ingredient, which is sourced from Pakistan.

Did it live up to its claims? Read more

Pure Fiji Home Spa Collection Review

Pure Fiji Rub If you’re ready to charge full speed ahead into Spring with warmer weather and leave the cold Winter months behind … set aside a hour and lock yourself in the bathroom (aka your home spa) and indulge in Pure Fiji’s line of luxurious and deliciously scented spa products.

I’m all about spa’ing at home, especially because this is our wedding year and I want to look my absolute best on the big day. I like to spa and I like to spa often, so A Girl’s Gotta Spa! at home once in a while! The moment I opened Pure Fiji’s Facial Solutions products, I was instantly reminded of summer. I kind of felt like I was in a commercial because I literally closed my eyes, took a deep breath, and pictured myself in the South Pacific. I set aside an hour on Sunday to lock myself in the bathroom and pamper myself with Pure Fiji’s home facial samples, sugar scrub, and pedicure sampler. On a cold March day, it was an instant mood booster. Read more

Smith Farms Honeysuckle Hair and Body Oil Review

Smith Farms Honeysuckle Hair and Body OilFor soft, smooth, velvety skin, I’ve been turning to body oils. The lovely sisters at Smith Farms send me their Honeysuckle Hair and Body Oil ($16) to try. No wonder it’s one of their best sellers–it’s made with one third each jojoba, sweet almond and sunflower oil. This light and fast absorbing oil is as good for your hair as it is for your skin. Enriched with vitamin E and honeysuckle essential oil, this multipurpose oil is as decadent as it is hardworking.

The story of Smith Farms is interesting and compelling. The Smith Farm story begins with Julia.

“To be honest, it began the day during a walk in the woods at the farm. I had been thinking about my career and wondering if I could be doing something more fulfilling. What kept coming to mind, was an interest in creating skincare products, specifically natural ones, that would be safe and gentle and not irritate sensitive skin. Being a bit of a skincare enthusiast, I had recently been concerned with the long list of unrecognizable ingredients on the products I used every day. Inspired by my walk, I decided now was a good time to give it a try.”  Read more

Willa Born to Glow Daily Tinted Shimmer Body Lotion Review

born-to-glow-natural-spf-15-daily-shimmer-body-lotion

Willa Born to Glow Daily Tinted Shimmer Body Lotion hydrates skin and evens skin tone with natural SPF 15 coverage. Formulated to dry fast, the natural sunscreen keeps your skin protected and doesn’t feel greasy. Vitamin E acetate moisturizes and fends off free radical damage to diminish the impact of environmental aggressors to keep your skin young and healthy. This is NOT a bronzer so you won’t look like you have a fake tan.

Admittedly this product does contain a bit of shimmer, but it’s not overwhelming. That said, at my age I would wear not this in the daytime. It would be perfect for a late summer afternoon at a pool party or backyard BBQ. It’s light enough for the hot humid weather and has an SPF of 15 so you’ll have some protection (I do recommend SPF 30). Apply to the collarbone, shoulders and décollete for a bit of sparkle.  Read more

J.R. Watkins Coconut Milk & Honey Body Butter and Body Scrub Review

jrwatkins-body-scrub-and-butterNothing says summer and vacation to me more than the scent of coconut.  And nothing says swimsuit ready more than soft, smooth, hydrated skin.  Now combine the scent of coconut with products  that exfoliate and moisturize my skin leaving it insanely smooth, glowing and hydrated. Who needs 80 degree temps? It’s practically summer in my shower right now…or at least it felt like it about ten minutes ago.  After I used the Coconut Milk & Honey  Body Scrub and Body Butter from J.R Watkins.

The natural scrub is a combination of sugar, shea butter and natural oils and smells absolutely delicious.  It effectively exfoliated my skin without feeling harsh and scratchy.  I loved that the scrub is also moisturizing so I did not feel like I was stripping my skin of moisturize while I exfoliated.  The body butter, like the scrub is also natural and has an amazing scent that is not overpowering.  The scent is light, fresh and clean…perfect for summer.  It felt decadent and luxurious on my skin and left it looking and feeling soft and radiant.  Read more

Best Ways to Spa at Home

I’d be lying if I said I could afford to go to the spa every few weeks. I simply can’t. Not with 4 boys who keep me super busy and a budget that doesn’t account for splurging. But I absolutely feel that spa time is super important if not only for your skin, but your mental and emotional well-being as well.

If you are anything like me and your finances and time don’t always agree with a trip to the spa, here are some simple ways to pamper yourself at home:

Light your favorite candles. There is nothing I love more than a house that smells so deliciously fragrant. Don’t use the ones that you light frequently, instead use candles that you set aside just for your spa time. My favorite candles are from NEST Fragrances. They are so unique (like Wasabi Pear and Moss & Mint) and smell luxurious. Turn off the lights and set them around your bathroom to make it even more relaxing.  Read more

NEST Fragrances Review

nest-fragrances-grapefruit

There is nothing I love more than a candle that can fill the entire room with its scent without overwhelming your senses and the perfectly portioned body wash and body cream whose fragrance lingers long after your shower. If you have yet to own anything from the NEST Fragrances line, then you are simply missing out on the aforementioned.  Read more

Limited Edition Softsoap Scentsations Body Wash

Here in the Pacific Northwest, we LOVE our coffee. Seattle may be where Starbucks originated, but there are a plethora of independent drive-in coffee stands–like one in every gas station parking lot and corner. With warmer temperatures though, I prefer something more refreshing. My summer drink is strawberry lemonade.

Lemonade Berry Splash_hi res

Lemonade Berry Splash is one of two limited-edition Softsoap Scentsations Moisturizing Body Washes you can find at Walmart this month, and only for a limited time. This is so refreshing and energizing in the shower! The zesty citrus scent bursts though and combines with the berry aroma for a remarkably authentic scent. The fragrance actually mixes orange, grapefruit and spring freesia for an uplifting and thirst quenching smell. The formula is infused with moisture beads that break apart leaving behind light moisturizers on the skin for added softness.  Read more

Bare Foot Repair! Review

We all know the dry winter weather dries out our skin, but let’s not forget those little 10 little piggies! I hate to admit it but my feet are a dry callused mess in the winter time.  There are two must-have products for those crime scene paws–Bare Foot Repair! for Callus Softening and Bare Foot Repair! for Cracked Heels. After using these two products, your footsies will be sexy sandal worthy.

Freeman Beauty Foot Repair! for Callus Softening ($6.99) – this callus softening cream exfoliates rough, dry skin without harsh abrasives while paraffin helps to soften skin leaving it feeling smooth.  I used to use a PediEgg but honestly, too often I would get carried away and end up with sore, slightly bloody feet. The texture of this is thick and paste-like, just spread on a thin layer to clean, dry feet and wait about 10 minutes for it to dry. Then gently rub and all the dry dead skin comes sloughing off–even the super dry skin! The peppermint has a cooling effect and smells good too. I was amazed at how well this did at exfoliating and it left my feet very soft and smooth.  Read more
