Guest men’s grooming review by Terence Buckley at Are You Being.
Glue. Paste. Gook. No, I’m not talking about your summer camp or back-to-school supplies list. I’m referring to the type of hair products many guys have turned to over the years to achieve the over-the-top hairstyles that tend to look crunchy, flaky and gunky; not flattering. In fact, in a survey of more than 2,000 women, they reported that these grooming mishaps can be a major turnoff.
“I’ve been working with guys for more than a decade and I’ve found that many need help with their hair, since not all guys have someone like me to make them look great,” said celebrity hair stylist and grooming expert for AXE Hair, Diana Schmidtke, who styles some of Hollywood’s most notable leading men.
So, maybe us guys don’t know as much as we think we do – when it comes to hair – which is why AXE recently launched their collection of “girl-approved” hair care products to help men fix their hair errors.

I know what you are thinking. It’s not even officially summer yet and I’m about to dish to you what the hair trends are going to be this upcoming fall and winter. Well, consider it a head start. At least you can sound like you are ahead of the trends having this information so far in advance. Redken has put out their hair trends report that I am just going to give you verbatim (no point in reinventing the wheel.)
NEW CLASSICS TRADITIONAL STYLES WITH A MODERN TWIST
Classic ’dos including French twists, chignons and menswear-inspired quiffs are returning to the runway. Far from being retro, these looks are thoroughly modernized with unexpected, softly subversive touches.
• Revolutionize the classic French twist with height and texture worthy of Marie Antoinette, as seen at Louis Vuitton. Apply thickening lotion 06 body builder, rough dry, curl, backcomb and then pin into a messy French twist.
• Defined shapes require maximum hold. At Marc Jacobs, Guido used forceful 23 super strength finishing spray to keep his ’80s-inspired ’dos in place. Layer it on for the extreme, over-lacquered finish seen on the runway.
• The newest chignons feature a strong side part, with one side swept over the eye and the other tucked behind the ear. Mist on vinyl glam 02 mega shine spray and quick dry 18 instant finishing spray for the look seen at Miu Miu.

With summer just around the corner, more and more Hollywood starlets are being spotted with the hottest trend in footwear: Nude heels! It’s no secret that if you’re able to choose a shade that’s close to your own skin tone, the heels will elongate your legs, creating a sexy and lengthened silhouette! Interestingly, this trend isn’t just limited to feet, but is great for complementing the hands as well! What complements a set of nude heels better than a set of nude hands? To match these nude heels, nude nail polishes are creating a perfect complement and illusion of long, sexy, and elegant hands!
China Glaze offers up a great selection of nude polishes that can complement any skin tone. Some favorites include:

Spring is finally here! Time to change your mood from dull and dreary to light and fun. I absolutely love the new Sugarsweet collection from MAC Cosmetics because it is just that–fun colors set out to make you sugar and spice and everything nice. I have a few products from this collection, specifically the Mineralize Skinfinish in Perfect Topping, TriColour Lipglass in Tasty and the Glaze Lipstick in Bubbles. Sweet femininity has met its match!

If you don’t know who Pearson Knight is, you should. He could be found at a number of runway shows this past fashion week styling hair for some of the best designers of the Fall/Winter 2009 season. If his boyish good looks don’t rope you in (because seriously ladies, look at him!), then his eye for detail and his talent to make a complicated hairstyle look effortless, will. As a Master Stylist at Juut Salonspa in Downtown Minneapolis, it’s Pearson’s ability to have each customer leaving his chair raving about his transformative hands that has him on the short list of great talents in hair. I asked Pearson if he would share with you some of his favorite looks from this past New York Fashion Week. Here’s what he had to say…

We all want whiter teeth, but sometimes time is of the essence and popping in the whitening trays just isn’t a viable option. Sometimes a little convenience isn’t too much to ask especially in a world where multi-tasking is everything. So my teeth whitening friends, Whiter Image has a whitening pen that is meant to take with you on the go, to whiten up anytime, anywhere without anyone knowing.
