There’s another great brand launching…this time by beauty blogger and chemist-cosmetologist, Kitiya King!
Mischo Beauty is a nail lacquer line that has gorgeous colors, it’s long-lasting and it’s 5-FREE (no Formaldehyde, Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP), Toluene, Formaldehyde Resin, and Camphor.) The 5-free formula excludes toxins that have been known to contribute to cancer, birth defects and reproductive issues. Not only is it environmentally friendly, but also cruelty free.
Kitiya conceptualized the Mischo Beauty nail lacquer line in the midst of a fruitless, frustrating search for stunning, cruelty free, non-toxic polishes safe for pregnant women. As a mom of 4 boys, I know all too well how careful I was about not only what I ate, but the beauty products I was using as well. Read more
I love a good DIY scrub to help detox and cleanse your skin. Inspired by a treatment offered in Six Senses Laamu in the Maldives (a destination on my spa bucket list), this scrub leaves skin hydrated and smooth. All ingredients are found on the islands of the Maldives and luckily for us, also most supermarkets.

I LOVE brands that stand for something beautiful, the type of beauty that envelopes the essence of love, joy, and hope. The kind that gives and quietly supports the unspoken interdependence we each need at some level in our lives.
When I look to review a brand I not only want to know how the product will work for the caregiver and busy woman, I want to know what the brand stands for, and if they will multiply the blessing of success to pass it on to others. In other words, what are they doing with what they have to produce positive community impact? Read more
The scenario: Your bank account gives you a firm NO to getting your next hair color done at your favorite salon, so you head down to your local drugstore and browse the home hair color aisle. All of the models on the package look amazing. You SO want hair color like that. You grab a few locks of your hair and try to find the perfect “before” match on the back of the box so that you can accurately predict what color your hair will likely ending up looking like “after.” On occasion you find yourself asking complete strangers, “Do you think this hair color will look good on me?” To which they usually smile, nod and say, “Yes,” only to quickly leave the aisle so that you won’t ask them anymore questions that you’ll expect them to be an expert at. Because clearly, they are not (unless that’s Ted Gibson in the aisle with you, which is highly unlikely.) Read more
I tend to wear more lip gloss in the cooler months than I do lipstick, simply because gloss can give me some extra hydration versus a lipstick that may dry them out. Burke Williams, a day spa with 9 locations across northern and southern California, has a fantastic spa gloss that is part of their H2V Skin Care line.
Art+Science=Beauty. This is the philosophy behind Burke Williams innovative H2V Skin Care line. By combining botanical and herbal ingredients with tested and proven scientific ingredients, a team of experienced estheticians, scientists and top industry professionals have created an effective and results-oriented line of products designed to repair and enhance skin, bringing natural beauty to the surface. Never did I thought I would see that day when I would be able to say I’m wearing red lip color. Friends would tell me, “Try this one, it’s best!” or “This type of red is more your color,” only to be greatly disappointed. I began to think red just wasn’t for me and would instead would be green with envy over those who could pull it off.
I’m just too pale, it brings out the ruddiness in my skin, it makes me look like a clown… believe me, I’ve given every excuse there is. Until AVON sent me their newest lip crayon for Fall. In two words: holy crap. Read more
The EO Rose & Chamomile line feels like a fancy spa all bottled up and ready to take home! (EO stands for essential oils – their products contains their essential oil blends!) Well, more like a fancy spa experience, without the fancy spa price tag! Even better, right? If you’re looking for a truly relaxing, enchanting, and luxurious spa experience in your home bath/shower, this collection is it. The subtle aroma is so calming and relaxing, it will almost lull you to sleep.
This is a true rose fragrance, almost like a fresh rose garden … and available in a variety of different bath products. They contain no synthetic fragrances, no artificial dyes or colors, no parabens or phthalates, no polysorbates. The more I read up on what’s actually in the products we use and adore, the more I’ve learned that the more a product doesn’t have, the better! EO is a leading manufacturer of natural and organic products that are great for the earth and for you! Also cool to know, EO is a small, family owned and operated business. You have to love that. Not tested on animals, these products are made in the USA and the bottle is made from 100% recycled materials. Now that you have the low down on the business being fabulously eco-friendly, let’s talk relaxation! Read more
MAKE is the beauty brand of a new company and online shop called We See Beauty. We See Beauty’s goal is to promote social and economic change through cooperative development. We See Beauty is a for-benefit marketplace of ideas, stories and products that support the cooperative movement. A movement that believes that through shared ownership we can establish a more equitable and beautiful society for all. By selling beautiful ideas and products, including MAKE – the first for-benefit brand of We See Beauty – their goal is to empower local economies and strengthen communities, starting with New York. Thirty percent of all sales will go to fund and build a woman-led cooperative in Brooklyn, set to be the first of many. As far as I’m concerned, this is probably the coolest company I’ve ever heard of and quite possibly an even cooler makeup palette. Read more
IT Cosmetics describes their CC cream as, “your full coverage foundation, brightening color, anti-aging serum, pore minimizing primer, dark spot corrector, moisturizing day cream, plus UVA/UVB broad spectrum physical only SPF 50+ all in one easy step!”
I have to admit that I have a tendency to become a skeptic when anyone or brand makes big claims, but how could I not engage in the trial to see if this CC cream was indeed everything it promotes itself to be?
Over the past two years these creams seem to be increasingly taking over the beauty shelves, yet many busy women, such as myself, are still a little unsure about what these alphabet soup-sounding creams are, so I thought I’d take a moment to clarify. Read more
