LAQA&Co Fat Lip Pencil

I love products with a story behind them, which is why I am positively crazy in love with LAQA&Co. Fat Lip Pencils. The Fat Lip Pencil is a glossy jumbo lip pencil that does not need a sharpener, which I think is absolutely brilliant because there is nothing worse than Read more

Karin Herzog Choco2 Face Cream Review

I've always considered myself lucky when it comes to my skin.  Sure I've had the occasional pimple or was inconvenienced by random dry skin or oily skin a times, but it was never out of control or got to the point where it was a stressor for me. I wish I would Read more

La Fresh hello Eco-Beauty Lip Treat Review

In the summer, the last thing I want to do is to apply any sort of sticky or gooey product to my lips.  I am a lip gloss fanatic, but even the lightest gloss is too much product for me when it's sweltering.  I will usually just opt for Read more

Mixed Chicks Sulfate Free Shampoo and Deep Conditioner

mixed-chicks-sulfate-free-shampooA few different people have mentioned Mixed Chicks hair products to me on a number of occasions and I have honestly been meaning to try it, but just never got around to it until just recently.  After feeling like my regular shampoo and conditioner were no longer performing as well as they have in the past, I decided to try something new and thought this would be the perfect opportunity to give Mixed Chicks a try.  I opted for the Sulfate Free Shampoo and Deep Conditioner as my naturally curly hair has been feeling really dry lately thanks to regular hot yoga attendance.

The Sulfate Free Shampoo is supposed to mildly cleanse my hair without stripping my hair of its natural oils and the Deep Conditioner is supposed to penetrate, reconstruct and restore my dry hair.  After trying both for two weeks, I was pretty bummed that I didn’t get around to trying them sooner. New England Inspired Fall Makeup Look

New England Inspired Fall #Makeup Look

Since I have been receiving frequent requests for how-to’s on my eye makeup looks (especially on Facebook), I decided to do a step-by-step picture post for my dedicated readers and those to come on a 2013 fall makeup look that I created.

I like trends, but I also like to do my own thing, too. Today I opted to create a look that reminded me of a favorite past time of taking fall drives in my home state of RI on the back roads in the small town of Scituate. Just imagine listening to the crunching sound as your tires roll over old dirt roads while staring out at a beautiful reservoir surrounded by vast amounts of huge trees in the prime of fall filled with gold, orange, red, purple, and green leaves…some being whisked away by a gentle breeze. Are you all starting to get why I am in LOVE with fall, and all the more inspired by it? There was not one year in my childhood that went by that I did not take that drive with my mom and family, and then follow it up with apple picking and hot pie a la mode! Just writing about it makes me want to return home right now…but I will patiently wait until October to do that! Read more

Pur Minerals CC Cream Review

Pur Minerals CC Cream #Review #Makeup #CC

I’ve been wanting to get on board with the BB and CC Cream trend, but I have to admit that I’ve been having a hard time buying into the hype.

When BB creams first came on the market, everyone was buzzing about them. I’ve tried a few and while they’ve been fine, they kind of felt like glorified tinted moisturizers that I saw no real benefit from. With most BB creams, I needed to wear foundation on top of them to achieve full coverage. I just didn’t see the point in straying from my beloved moisturizers. Then came CC Creams, which was kind of confusing because many of us wondered, what’s the difference?

Before I tell you about my new obsession with a product that really has made it’s own little spot in the makeup world, here’s the rundown: Read more

Love Your Skin Love Yourself Q and A with Rachael Pontillo

Love your skin, love yourself author Rachael Pontillo

My friend, fellow blogger, and holistic skincare expert, Rachael Pontillo has a book coming out on September 3rd: Love Your Skin, Love Yourself: Achieve Beauty, Health, and Vitality from the Inside Out and Outside In. It’ll be available on both Amazon and Kindle. Considering that her skin is absolutely flawless and nothing short of amazing, I needed to find out all I could about what she is dishing in her new book.

Women with skin issues often feel like they have to hide or that there is something wrong with them. Whether the condition starts as early as adolescence, or develops later on during a pregnancy or for other reasons, it affects much more than just the skin.

Sometimes issues that accompany a skin condition are physical such as weight gain, digestive issues, systemic infection, chronic inflammation, etc. Other times, however, the issues are emotional and even spiritual. This was the case for author and coach, Rachael Pontillo. After living the majority of her life with acne, she cleared up her skin for good (and simultaneously lost 80 lbs) once she cleaned up her diet and upgraded her lifestyle. Though she looked and felt better on the outside and was healthier on the inside, she still had issues having to do with self-image and self-love. These are issues common to many women, especially those who have experienced a visible skin condition, and many feel misunderstood, alone and insecure because of it. Read more

Dramatic Eye Makeup How ToI love color. What better way to play with color than to create a dramatic eye makeup look? Sure, it’s not really something you can wear to the office, but it’s definitely an artsy look that may even work for a fun night out.

Everyday Heroes Beauty Transformation

Two Everyday Heroes Translate their Inner Strength into their Outer Pow!

Makeover

Sherona McFadden of Harleysville, PA and Keara Ramos-Coles of Greenlane, PA are two women who define what it means to be everyday heroes.

Sherona is a wife, a mother of five children (two are affected by a disability and a serious medical condition), a friend, a working-woman, a singer/songwriter, and a community/church volunteer. Sherona emulates creative flare to the point where she seems to breathe it with every idea she speaks and song she writes. She is a natural visionary, but with much of her time spent caring for her family and/or living between frequent doctor appointments and hospital visits, Sherona struggles with a sense of zapped energy. She longs to reconnect with her keen sense of artistic allure when it comes to makeup, and shared with me that she is looking for some products/looks to reignite this flame.

Keara is a wife, a mother of three children (all of which have a learning disability), a friend, a professional caregiver for the elderly and those affected by disability, and also volunteers in her church and community whenever she is able. Keara so poignantly shared her struggle, which so many caregivers face, with balancing taking care of her self vs. others. Her compassionate heart for others wins in weight, but with that she said, “I am now at a time in my life that as much as I love taking care of everyone else I am also learning that I have to find ways to take care of myself.” Read more

Lancome Gloss In Love Review

Lancome Gloss In Love #review #makeup
As a lip gloss lover who appreciates some color and shine all in one tube, I was super excited to get my hands on Lancome’s new lip collection, Gloss In Love. I’ve admired Emma Watson’s lips (she’s the face in all of the ads for the line) for a few months and had product envy. Lancome’s Gloss In Love gave Emma gorgeous lips that shined and had the perfect coating of color. To be totally honest, (because that’s just how I roll) I mostly loved this gloss, but the thing I didn’t love about it was a big one for me. Read more

#NationalRelaxationDay How Do You Relax?

#NationalRelaxationDayA Girl’s Gotta Spa!® was founded on the principal that we all need a little pampering.

As I mentioned in this 2011 interview in SHAPE Magazine, “I created A Girl’s Gotta Spa! as an outlet for myself and as a way to say it’s OK to take time for yourself no matter how busy you are—in fact, it’s imperative.” Relaxing, decompressing from stressors, taking time to feel good about yourself…they are all equally important for your mental health, not to mention your overall health.

So on this National Relaxation Day, how do you unwind? Do you take mini breaks throughout the day to take in the beauty around you? Is it a bubble bath at the end of a long day? Or is it an indulgent spa treatment at the end of a long, tiring work week?

Here are a few suggestions to check out that may spark the way you relax: Read more

Wantable Beauty Box Subscription Review

For the last several years a new beauty subscription service has popped up every few months. Most of these are monthly subscription where you receive deluxe, sample or travel size products, all of which were not of your choosing, you simply got what everyone else got.

But Wantable is doing beauty subscription differently.

Wantable is a new monthly subscription ($36) with the option to just do a one time purchase ($40). They offer two kinds of subscriptions- makeup or accessories. All items are ALWAYS full sized, are valued between $80-$100 and have been customized to your likes based on answering their questionnaire when you sign up.

Wantable allowed me a gifted makeup box so that I could try the service myself. The questionnaire was lengthy, but very detailed to ensure that I was being sent exactly what I liked. Within a week of placing the order the box was delivered. Upon opening it, I was stoked to see full sized items that I immediately began to play with.

My box came with Rainbow Honey Nail Lacquer in Fire Spring:
