Verb Detangle+Defrizz Conditioning Leave-In Mist Review

To be completely up front about things, I hate washing my hair because it's a nightmare to comb afterwards.  It’s much like that of a 6 year old little girl. It tangles like nobody’s business and is a nightmare to comb after washing. It’s so bad that my hairdresser Read more

J.R. Watkins Coconut Milk & Honey Body Butter and Body Scrub Review

jrwatkins-body-scrub-and-butterNothing says summer and vacation to me more than the scent of coconut.  And nothing says swimsuit ready more than soft, smooth, hydrated skin.  Now combine the scent of coconut with products  that exfoliate and moisturize my skin leaving it insanely smooth, glowing and hydrated. Who needs 80 degree temps? It’s practically summer in my shower right now…or at least it felt like it about ten minutes ago.  After I used the Coconut Milk & Honey  Body Scrub and Body Butter from J.R Watkins.

The natural scrub is a combination of sugar, shea butter and natural oils and smells absolutely delicious.  It effectively exfoliated my skin without feeling harsh and scratchy.  I loved that the scrub is also moisturizing so I did not feel like I was stripping my skin of moisturize while I exfoliated.  The body butter, like the scrub is also natural and has an amazing scent that is not overpowering.  The scent is light, fresh and clean…perfect for summer.  It felt decadent and luxurious on my skin and left it looking and feeling soft and radiant.  Read more

Daisies & Dukes Bubbly Sugar Scrub And Body Butter

So far this year, I’ve been lucky enough to sample some truly amazing beauty products and I’ve been pretty excited about the majority of them. But this week I got the opportunity to try two new products from a new line of bath and body products that I am absolutely beserk about!  The line is called Daisies & Dukes and as their name may suggest, their products are inspired by the fresh air and natural beauty of America’s countryside.

I used the amazing Bubbly Sugar Scrub and Body Butter and did not want to get out of the bathroom.  Honestly, normally I have a tendency to speed shower and speed moisturize, but both of these products made me want to just hang around and dawdle in my bathroom for a spell.  The Hayfield Romance Bubbly Sugar Scrub has a fresh and clean yet feminine and romantic scent.  When I applied it in the shower it felt like I was applying frosting to my body, which I quite enjoyed.  The scrub both cleansed and exfoliated my skin gently, but thoroughly.  I loved that it transformed from a sugary scrub into a bubbly cleanser!  Read more

LaLicious is a delectable line of body products that includes all-natural body soufflé scrubs, body butters, oils, soaps and lip butters. All of the products are paraben free and come in nine scrumptious scents including: Vanilla, Coconut Cream, Lily Mango, Passionfruit Lime, Island Guava, Tahitian Flower, Peppermint, Sugar Reed and Sugar Kiss.

The story of entrepreneur Jessica Kernochan gives us all hope of achieving our dreams! What began as a fun idea for Christmas gifts has evolved into a thriving business! In the winter of 2002, Jessica began mixing up one-of-a-kind body scrubs and soft skin lotions for her friends and family. It turned out to be destiny as the last dot.com she worked for folded, leaving her jobless. “It forced me to commit to my dream of creating a beauty line,” says Jessica. And so production began. After the process of finding the perfect concoction for her trademark sugar soufflé body scrubs, Jessica began going to beauty stores to sell her goods. The products sold themselves with their unique formulation and tantalizing scents. Soon, Jessica had to leave her kitchen behind and find a warehouse big enough to whip up her products and ship out orders. After just four short years, LaLicious built a bigger facility in order to meet the needs of a successful growing business. Now her line is sold at select retailers and spas across the country!  Read more

DIY Coffee Grounds Body Scrub

My sister is, and always has been, my beauty mentor.  Whenever I’ve had  a beauty ailment (which is a weekly occurrence,) I’ve always been able to count on her to steer me in the right direction.  Whether it be over plucked brows, breakouts or a lackluster complexion, she always seems to have a remedy in hand.  Her latest beauty advice for me was a body scrub using coffee grounds.

This DIY body scrub was honestly one of the easiest and most enjoyable beauty adventures I’ve been on in a long time.  I got to enjoy a delicious cup cup of coffee then indulge in an amazingly effective…and cheap at home spa treatment.  I just took the leftover grounds into the shower with me and rubbed it all over my body.  The coffee grounds make a really gentle scrub, but also does a great job of exfoliating.  Caffeine is also known to be a fantastic anti-cellulite treatment. The strong smell of coffee in the shower also gave me an energy boost.  Read more

The Perfect Body Scrub: Sabon Patchouli Lavender

I don’t want to jinx it, but it seems like springtime is here to stay…and with warmer temps come leg-baring skirts and shorts! For those of you who might have neglected your skin during the winter, now is the time to focus your energies on getting your stems silky-smooth again!

We all know moisturization is key, but slathering on lotion does nothing if it’s sitting atop dead skin cells –the only way to rid your skin of impurities is to exfoliate. Now, I’ve been around the block when it comes to exfoliants, and I can say without a moment’s hesitation that my all-time favorite scrub is by Sabon, a luxury bath and body fragrance brand.

While doing my Christmas shopping months ago in Bryant Park, a Sabon employee convinced me (with a notable amount of zeal) to try out their body scrubs.  I was pretty hesitant at first, but I was completely blown away by the product. Made with dead sea salt and various nut oils the tiniest amount used two times a week will leave your skin silky smooth and completely moisturized.  Because I was Christmas shopping, I made an oath to myself that I wouldn’t purchase anything for personal use…but since I loved the scrub so much, I bought it for my roommate.  Read more
