Revlon Glam Holiday Nails

For someone who wore nothing but French tips for years, I’m really embracing the festive sparkly finishes in nail polish this season. The two polishes pictured above are both new from Revlon. The red polish on the left is Ruby Ribbon and has not only glitter but tiny bits of gold tinsel. It works beautifully on it’s own or layered over other solid colored polishes. I tried to capture the complexity 0f this polish but my camera skills are lacking. Suffice to say the bar glitter, sparkle and density of Ruby Ribbon is stunning and it definitely looks like a much more expensive polish. Read more

The Lazy Girl’s Guide to Holiday Hair

As indicated by the title of this post, I tend to lack any sort of motivation when it comes to styling my own hair. Don’t get me wrong, I will definitely spend time on improving the health of my hair with deep conditioners, but as far as styled hair I tend to stick to three insanely easy styles that require the minimum amount of effort.

These include either a ponytail, loose bun/top knot, every once in a while a braid or I just simply leave it down…like I said, not a lot of effort. This suits me just fine all year with the exception of the holiday season. I, like most others, tend to get sucked into the sparkly glamour that seems to define the holiday season and I feel the need to do something a more with my hair, but I just do not have the skill, knowledge, patience or motivation to go all out. So I decided to stick with what I already know but just add a bit of sparkle. LORAC Sweet Temptations Lip Gloss Collection Review – Holiday 2012

LORAC’s Holiday Collection has a candy/sweets theme. One of the jewels of this collection is the Sweet Temptations Lip Gloss Set ($25). The collection includes six full sized lip glosses with the sweet treat theme:

Pumpkin Spice (coral)
Butterscotch (pale peach)
Créme Brulée (light pink)
Cotton Candy (medium pink)
Frosted Gumdrop (bright pink)
Candy Apple (warm red)

Each of the glosses have the taste and scent of their name–such a fun added bonus! These sweet, hydrating glosses are infused with antioxidants like acai berry, pomegranate, grape seed, and vitamins C and E to help nourish and protect your lips. These high shine, shimmery shades range from nude peach, to pinks to candy apple red. I do wish the shade range was a little more diverse–there are an awful lot of pinks in the collection. The lighter shades don’t have as much opacity to them as Frosted Gumdrop and Candy Apple. Candy Apple is a lovely warm red that is perfect for the holidays and Frosted Gumdrop is a bright pink that would be ideal for Christmas Eve celebrations. Read more
