My lashes basically seem non-existent without mascara. They lack length and volume. I’ve tried so many mascaras in the pursuit of enviable lashes. Maybe you can relate..?
False lashes have also made their way onto my vanity, and while I adore the *POW* they give my lashes (and I swear they make me look younger – yes, please!), I have to be honest and say that I am no pro when it comes to applying them. Not only does it take some skill to apply the lashes in a way that looks natural, you then need a steady hand to apply your eye liner in a way that doesn’t look like you are trying to emulate that 70’s disco vibe with a thick line. (Am I right??) Read more
When makeup artist extraordinaire, Billy Brasfield, raves about a product, I sit up and take notice. He called out the awesomeness of Miracle Blur…and I subsequently bought it. He said that the new L’Oreal Butterfly Mascara was a game changer, so I waited the two months until my local CVS finally got it in stock to buy it. (I was seriously there weekly badgering them as to the exact date it would be in stock!) I’ve been wearing it for about a month now and here are my thoughts: Read more
Normally I go to MyHabit and Hautelook in the hopes of finding a great deal on shoes, bags or clothing, and lately they’ve both had some pretty great beauty products on their sites at prices that I just have not been able to pass up. Purchasing beauty products on these sites are a great way for me to experiment with products without having to pay full price for them, that way if they disappoint, I won’t be too bummed.
Last week I came across Belvada Mascara Noir and at pretty much half off the normal price that I could not resist ordering it. The Belvada Mascara Noir is a retractable mascara that allows for “one hand” application, meaning instead of having to dip your mascara wand into the tube, you simply just extend or retract the brush of this mascara by pushing a slider up or down. One of the first questions my best friend Sarah asks me when we see each other is always, “What kind of mascara are you using these days?” We bond over makeup and our lifelong quest for the perfect product … especially mascara. When I told her about the Eyeko Mascara Wardrobe, she was all ears. I love to see what other ladies are into, so every couple of weeks I browse the Best Sellers section on Sephora.com. That’s where I first saw Eyeko’s Mascara Wardrobe. ($28) If it’s a best seller, my assumption is there’s got to be a lot to love!
What’s really cool about this is that it comes with 1 mascara, but 3 different brushes … for 3 different eyelash looks. In this set, you get the three-in-one conditioning formula with Carbon Black finish. A super glossy black mascara formula that’s extra-thick. (That means you only need 2 coats!) You also get three brushes to define, curl, and volumize. The brushes are interchangeable, but only 1 can live in the mascara. The other two have their own containers for storing. Read more
So I tried another drugstore mascara even though I have at least five other open mascaras on my vanity. Obsessed much? This time it’s Maybelline Volum’ Express the Rocket Mascara–sounds impressive huh?
- The packaging is impressive–you can’t miss the bright blue tube with the fuchsia writing and the ‘bullet’ shape.
- The brush is impressive–a big rubber brush with varying lengths of bristles.
- The way the brush exits the tube is impressive–you can hear the ‘pop’ that keeps all the extra gloppy (is that a word?) mascara in the tube and not on the brush.
- The color is impressive–a REALLY deep carbon black
- The length it gives to lashes is impressive
Sounds awesome, right? The problem I experienced with Maybelline Volum’ Express The Rocket Mascara was Read more
Recently we began polling our Facebook fans and Twitter followers to find out which is better, drugstore or department store mascara. There’s the obvious difference in price, but does a higher price mean it’s a better product?
Personally, the majority of mascaras in my Mocha Moon Perez Beauty Case are a mix of drugtore and department store. I guess that makes me indecisive as to which is better!
We’d love to hear from you! Take our poll below and leave a comment letting us know which mascara brand you can’t live without. Read more
Big Blink is Pur Minerals newest mascara, which is fortified with Argan oil and has a clump free wand ($20). This wand is no ordinary wand, it’s magical. It combs smoothly through the lashes and coats evenly. The wand even gets into those hard to reach corners without making a mess (or poking you in the eye.) Read more
Okay I admit it, anything that has “star” in the name has my attention. And a mascara from the iconic Lancôme line, well now you have my undivided attention!
When it comes to mascara, Lancôme is the ultimate authority; Définicils is THE best-selling luxury mascara in the WORLD. Lancôme puts a lot of time, effort and research into their mascara formulas, and now there is a new addition to the mascara family– Lancôme Hypnôse Star Mascara ($28).
I’ve been a fan of Lancôme mascaras for more years than I would like to admit. This one is supposed to “provides ultra-volume at the lash line for a sensuous curve from root to tip.” Read more
the Balm is highly underrated cosmetics brand in my opinion. They’re quirky whimsical packaging always catches my eye so when the brand was on sale at Hautelook recently I took advantage and purchased a few things. Being a bit of a mascara maven, I chose to try Cheater! mascara. It promises endless drama with the “stars” Vince Volume, Donnie Dark-Coat, Thomas Thick and Lance Longlash. Quite a cast characters huh? Let’s see how faithful they are to my lashes! Read more
