#EyeHeartNY Twitter Party 4/24 #ad

This summer I'll be 40. Wrinkles and fine lines know their way around my face like a road map. I wish what I know now about anti-aging, I knew 20 years ago so that I could take better care of my skin. However, since I can't literally turn back Read more

Beauty Benefits of Lime

It may sound silly, but even though I don't drink, those Corona commercials snag my attention every time. Sounds of the ocean, the sense of relaxation and the refreshing lime placed perfectly in the bottle neck. It's that lime that calls out to me saying, "Let me quench your Read more

Nail Polish

Revlon Glam Holiday Nails

For someone who wore nothing but French tips for years, I’m really embracing the festive sparkly finishes in nail polish this season. The two polishes pictured above are both new from Revlon. The red polish on the left is Ruby Ribbon and has not only glitter but tiny bits of gold tinsel. It works beautifully on it’s own or layered over other solid colored polishes. I tried to capture the complexity 0f this polish but my camera skills are lacking. Suffice to say the bar glitter, sparkle and density of Ruby Ribbon is stunning and it definitely looks like a much more expensive polish.  Read more

Gel Manicure Nail Polish Tutorial & Review

Great news for those of you that love your Gel Manicures! Sally Hansen recently introduced an easy to use, economical, at-home Gel Manicure Nail Polish Kit that costs less than $65. When you get a gel manicure at a salon, you can pay anywhere from $30 to $50 and up PER manicure. With this at-home kit, you can do up to 10 manicures that will last at least a week or more.

Now, admittedly, I had never had a gel manicure before this, so I didn’t have a lot to compare it to. That said, it wasn’t as hard as I anticipated it would be. It took me about an hour from start to finish and I don’t think it would take me nearly as long the second time around. The first 15 minutes was reading the enclosed instructions to make sure I knew what I was doing before I started. Always best to venture into these things well prepared!  Read more

Ciate Sequin Manicure Kit Review

If you are looking for an impressive looking nail look to wear to your holiday event, you may want to check out Ciate’s Sequin Manicure Kit. Affordably priced at $15, your nails will draw attention…maybe even more so than your dress.

I had the opportunity to try out Ciate’s Black & Gold Sequin Manicure. The kit looks simple enough with a bottle of sequins, a clear base coat for them to adhere to, a small brush to swipe away the excess and a plastic tray for the sequins. Expect that this manicure will take about 40 minutes from start to finish.  Read more

COVERGIRL Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Gloss Review

Most nail polishes, if left to their own devices without a base or top coat, will basically chip in under 24 hours. So when COVERGIRL sent me a challenge to try their Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Gloss ($5.49), claiming that without a top coat, this polish wouldn’t chip for up to 7 days, I was skeptical.

Review: Nails, Inc. Neon and Nude Collection

I’m always on the hunt for new nail polish options, and though I’ve become a self-proclaimed slave to Essie as of late, I’ll still venture outside once in a while to try something new.

U.K.-based Nails, Inc. is a polish legacy, so I was immediately game to test out their products. Their Neon and Nude collection did not disappoint – the color selection was so on-trend and perfect for mixing and matching.

Part of the fun is what the varnish is actually called, too… with names like Notting Hill Gate and Portobello (my absolute favorite London marketplace), my inner travel bug was just dying with excitement.  Read more

Zoya Nail Color Blogger Collection by Birchbox

Zoya, my all-time favorite brand of nail polish teamed up with Birchbox and several bloggers to create  the Blogger Collection, three exclusive limited edition nail polish shades. First, each blogger made a mood board capturing her favorite spring/summer colors. Next, Birchbox Facebook fans were asked to vote for the top three boards, which the polish experts at Zoya used to custom-design this stunning trio. Kate is a pinkish grapefruit that comes courtesy of The Small ThingsEleventh Gorgeous created Coraline, a warm juicy tangerine. Capitol Hill Style is the force behind Belle, a coppery pink which features microscopic bits of iridescent glitter. They are ALL gorgeous and right on trend for summer!   Read more

imPress Press-On Manicure Review

A long time ago I used to have my nails done with wraps, until one day while working at my day job with kids I almost lost a nail during a kickball game. I wound up in the ER and thankfully didn’t lose my nail entirely. From that point on, I only used polish or nail strips. But last week while making my weekly jaunt to CVS, I came across imPRESS Press-On Manicure. The packaging is what caught my attention. The nails come in what appears to be a nail polish bottle. (It’s not really a bottle though.) When I was little I tried Lee Press-On Nails and remembered how they would pop off all the time (and you had to put superglue on your nails.) imPRESS’ display stated they were different, so I scooped up “Shout” and decided to try it out.   Read more

Nail Down Your Perfect Shade with New GelColor by OPI

If all these new developments in nail technology, from Axxium to Shellac and beyond, have you feeling dissatisfied with your typical run-of-the-mill spa treatment, you’re not alone in wanting more from your mani! OPI has answered your prayers with yet another way to boost lasting power for your lacquer, and after much speculation and anticipation, the brand’s brand-spanking-new GelColor shades are slowly but surely arriving at a salon near you… if you’re lucky!

After just 30 seconds under a salon’s LED lamp, you’ll have glossier color pay-off and a tough-as-nails finish that doesn’t feel any thicker than your regular manicure. For the trend-spotters who can’t wait to get gel versions of the most recent collections, you may be out of luck for now, but the good news is, GelColor comes in 30 of the brand’s most popular classic shades, including Lincoln Park After Dark, You Don’t Know Jacques, and I’m Not Really a Waitress. And there’s no better way to improve on the original than with a long-wearing gel coat that’ll keep your favorite shades chip-free for several weeks!
