As soon as the season changes and the temperature gets cooler, my skin starts to get dry and feels tight. I have my favorite moisturizers that I switch to this time of the year, but it’s always fun to try something new. I’ve been using Bolden Butter Mint Shea Oil for a couple of weeks and have noticed a difference.
This Shea Oil is 100% natural and is made from ethically-sourced Shea nuts picked and processed by local women’s groups in Burkina Faso, West Africa. Read more
Two things that I always look for when purchasing beauty products are that the product(s) are as natural as possible and they are multi-functional. I work hard at feeding my body things that will nourish it instead of harming it and I don’t want to undo that hard work by applying things to my skin that are unhealthy and harmful. I also travel a ton so the less products I can lug from place to place the better, this is why I look for products that can be used in a variety of ways…plus if something is multi-functional it also reduces the amount of products I have to purchase, which is great for my wallet and for the environment since this also means less waste. This past week I had the absolute joy of trying a product that is both natural and multi-functional. Read more
Just about everyone I know, both men and women, all have one beauty item in common and that is lip balm. A lot of men may be hesitant to regard lip balm as a beauty item, but regardless they carry it around in their pockets anyway on a regular basis and most women seem to never ever be without lip balm in their purses, desk drawers, night stands, etc. and I am no exception. For me, lip balm is a necessity and I love experimenting with different flavors, brands, scents and packaging because in this economy, it is one of the few beauty items that one can experiment with that won’t break the bank.
My latest amazing discovery is from Chiva-Som, as in the luxury health resort located in Thailand. Read more
If you love Aromafloria’s natural bath and body products, then you’ll love their Sensory Fusion line of organic body butters. This collection is a blend of ingredients to create fantastic scented lotions while soothing dry skin. I received Kiwi Coconut, Mango Ginger, Honey Papaya and Pomegranate.
Sticking to my staple summer sent, Kiwi Coconut was my favorite. I don’t know what it is about that coconut smell in warmer weather…it makes me feel like I’m living the island life here on the lake. These body butters are a mix of shea butter and aloe, so they are both hydrating as they are soothing. I used the Honey Papaya last summer and I cannot begin to tell you how lovely it made my skin feel on my sun parched skin. And yes, despite wearing sunscreen, I still managed to get a few sunburns (lesson learned to re-apply every 2 hours.) The whipped body butter felt so good on my skin as it melted it from the heat my skin generated from the sunburn. Read more
Want to know a secret?
I absolutely love discovering an indie brand that has an awesome product that I know one day will be a household name. Skin Like Butter is one of those brands. Presently selling online and at a farmer’s market in California, one day this brand will be seen in the magazines, on TV, heck- dare I say Sephora? Just remember that you heard it here first.
Skin Like Butter’s amazing Aloe and Shea Butter Lotion is deeply hydrating while light in texture. I have the scent “Fresh Laundry” which is that fresh off the clothesline fragrance. Crisp and breezy air, Fresh Laundry is such a clean scent.
Among the Aloe & Shea Butter Lotion’s all natural ingredients are shea butter, shea oil, avocado oil and jojoba oil. Despite the milieu of oils, this lotion is not at all greasy. In fact, it is pretty thick in consistency yet smoothes out evenly with a light feel to it. It makes your skin incredibly soft. In fact, my husband even told me, “Wow your skin is so soft.” And I asked, “Like butter?”
Skin Like Butter’s Shea Oil Lotion is a steal at $15 for an 8oz. bottle. Visit their etsy shop for more info!
