Probiotic Skin Care: Miracle Ingredient or Marketing Hype?

As a consumer, my hope is that when a product comes to market, it delivers information that is true. I mean, we're all so busy, who has the time to fact check everything? For a while, we all believed the mascara commercials and ads where the spokesperson/model had the most Read more

3 Myths About Using Toner

Which of these myths have you believed about using toner? via @agirlsgottaspa

Toner is one of the biggest misunderstood skin care products out there.

And to be honest, at one point when I was younger, I also believed some of these myths. What about you?

1. Toner is a cleanser.

This one bugs me the most. I’ve read blogger reviews where the person clearly didn’t understand the role toner plays in a skin care routine. They’ll say, “It worked great removing the makeup my normal cleanser leaves behind.” Yes, you may see remanents of your makeup on the cotton pad you just applied your toner with, but that’s because anything wet applied to a cotton pad and rubbed on your face will do that if you didn’t do a good job of cleansing in the first place. LUSH Breath of Fresh Air Toner for Dry Skin

When LUSH says “Breath of Fresh Air” they really mean it!

All LUSH toners are slightly different than what you may be used to and as Martha Stewart would say “that’s a good thing.”  They are alcohol-free and work by providing a moisture boost to the skin.  They are packed with skin-soothing essential oils that help combat tiredness, dryness and blemishes. Breath of Fresh Air is made specifically for dry, sun damaged skin and refreshes with nutrients directly from the sea to your skin. Fresh seawater gently cleanses, while carrageen (seaweed) extract softens and provides essential vitamins and minerals. And all the while, rose absolute and aloe vera are soothing dry areas.  Read more

Sensitive Skin Solutions: Lara Beauty

I have notoriously sensitive facial skin and am always searching for the next best solution to my winter woes.  Thankfully, I recently came across Lara Beauty, a great fragrance-free skincare collection catered towards those with sensitive skin.

The collection combines natural ingredients with anti-aging compounds to create powerhouse products that aren’t abrasive or damaging.  As a girl who has gotten more reactions than results from many name-brand lotions, I was eager to find out if Lara Beauty lived up to its name.

Toners have always been especially damaging for me and I used to go to bed with red blotches and painful stinging after my daily cleansing ritual– not an ideal beauty regimen!  Lara’s Revitalizing Daily Toner is the first toner that I continue to use and didn’t leave me wincing when I applied it to my face.

My skin was left perfectly prepped for Step 2: Lara’s Anti-Aging Daily Therapy for Sensitive Skin. This moisturizer was thicker than I expected, but it absorbed easily and after about two weeks of use I noticed a very real difference in my normally-dull skin’s radiance.

I’m so happy to find a product that doesn’t irritate my winter skin (and it doesn’t hurt to throw a little anti-aging protection in there, either!) Visit Lara Beauty to learn more about the collection. Have you used any of their products?
