A lot of moisturizers claim that they will provide relief from dry chapped skin. Sometimes they do…right after being applied to the skin, but not for much longer than that. And on those rare occasions when they do provide dry skin relief for longer than a couple of hours, they tend to make my skin feel like a greasy, oily mess. But I’ll deal with a greasy mess any day if it means healthier, more hydrated skin. Thanks to a product I started using this week, I can have relief from dry, chapped, cracked skin without being a hot greased up mess.
This week I started using Theraplex Ultra (sent by it’s brand rep.) Theraplex Ultra is a skin care treatment for dry, chapped skin. It’s a medical moisturizer, meaning that dermatologists recommend their patients use it after procedures such as chemical peels, laser treatments and dermabrasion. I didn’t undergo any of those procedures and just wanted it to provide relief to my insanely dry hands, heels and lips. For the last three nights I have been applying Theraplex Ultra to my feet, hands and lips and all three areas have improved. I wear flip flops just about every day and as a result my heels get really dry and cracked, but since I started applying Theraplex Ultra to them they have been much improved, they definitely feel softer. My cuticles have also been wretched looking…really dry and I’m scared I’ll pierce someone’s skin if I shake their hands, but they have also gotten softer. I’ve also been using this cream as sort of a lip mask at night, then when I wake up in the morning I remove it with a soft, wet washcloth for softer more hydrated lips all day. I’ll occasionally use it on my elbows, knees and under my eyes as well for extra moisture. It says that you can pretty much use this cream for total body moisturization so I’ll be trying it on my entire face next.
I absolutely love that Theraplex Ultra is insanely moisturizing without feeling heavy or greasy. It has a barely there, pleasant scent (I have to admit I was scared of the scent when I read “medical moisturizer.”) It feels like it dissolves into my skin and my skin immediately feels more hydrated, and best yet, it lasts for more than a couple of hours. I go to sleep with it and wake up with my skin still moisturized. I just wish I had this cream back when I still lived in Minnesota…
Have you tried it?
