I’ve only become a face and eye primer convert in the last two years, but ever since the love affair began, I’ve tried to use ever primer out there. So to say I have a collection of primers is quite the understatement!
Clinique just launched a line of Superprimers ($27), each one focused on color correction (think primer + cc cream.)
Breakdown by color:
White: Universal for all skin tones and applies translucent.
Pink: Color corrects dullness.
Yellow: Color corrects redness.
Purple: Color corrects sallowness (unhealthy yellow and brownness i.e. dark circles.)
Peach: Color corrects discolorations (uneven skin tone.)
Brown: Color corrects dullness in darker skin tones.
Primer is always applied after your skin care products, like toner, moisturizer and serum, but before concealer and foundation. While most brands recommend applying it to your entire face, I only apply where needed, which is typically my nose, alongside my nose and up under my eyes and crowsfeet, and my chin. Basically primer creates a flawless complexion by filling in fine lines, wrinkles, scars and pores. The added benefit of using Clinique’s Superprimers is that it also targets your other complexion woes such as dark circles and redness. I personally don’t have dark circles, so I can’t speak to its effectiveness, but I do have redness and an uneven skin tone.
The texture of the Superprimer is smooth and silky, although I did find that it didn’t want to play nice with my Olay Micro-Scrulpting eye cream (it would ball up.) When using the yellow Superprimer, I did notice that it diminished the appearance of redness. Since it is oil-free, it wasn’t greasy or slippery on my skin. I have combination skin, so this is something I am always concerned with. It was lightweight and not noticeable on my skin. More importantly, it didn’t appear to clog my pores and cause blemishes, as some primers are known to do.
Have you tried these? Which one works for you?
