I have combination skin. It’s more combination in the winter months, but Spring, Summer and Fall, it is full blown oily. I’ve never really been able to get a handle on it, but I am always up for trying products that are meant to mattify my shiny skin.
Avene, famously known for their Thermal Spring Water in their products to nourish skin, sent me their new Cleansing Foam and Mattifying Fluid. Typically, I stay away from any type of foam cleansers because they are known to strip the skin of ALL oils causing your skin to go crazy and into overdrive producing even more sebum. That’s due to the harsh ingredients known as Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Sodium Laureth Sulfate and Ammonium Laureth Sulfate. Avene doesn’t contain any of these ingredients, so I felt confident that my skin would be gently cleansed rather than striped down to nothing.
Avene Cleansing Foam is formulated for combination to oily skin, as well as sensitive skin. It’ll wash away impurities without drying out your skin. It also leaves your skin looking matte. Now this doesn’t mean you should skin the moisturizer because then your skin WILL dry out. The foam has a very light scent to it, and it applies foamy yet creamy.
Avene Mattifying Fluid is to be used after your moisturizer. It is oil-free and described as a gel-fluid. However, it’s appearance is like that of a lightweight moisturizer and it applies like silk. Just like the Cleansing Foam, it has a very light floral fragrance. It mattifies patches of oily skin to give you a more even looking complexion.
Both products worked well for me and didn’t dry out my skin. Have you tried either of these products?
